    4:55 - When he's talking about Atoms vs Ions, is the example of Aluminum having 3+ charge arbitrary or it's following some rule ? I'm a bit confused.

      Little after I made this comment I learned the reason why Aluminum is said to have 3+ charge.
      It's not that it has such a charge by default but it has a "tendency" to borrow its electrons in order to form what's called an octet in its valence shell.
      In order to form such an octet it needs to give out exactly 3 electrons, making it positively charged.
      Since a given compound where Aluminum is a part of is neutrally charged, the other part of the compound will have a negative charge, balancing it out, eg. Aluminum-Chloride (AlCl₃) - Chlorine has a tendency to acquire only one more electron to form an octet, hence it becomes negatively charged part of the compound, but in order to balance the compound completely (Remember, Aluminum gives away 3 electrons), it needs three Chlorine atoms.
