as a body shop owner/operator, ive filled and retextured lots of plastic parts over 22 years, especially the fox plastics, its time consuming but at this point we have to save the parts that we can man, crazy these cars are 40 years old now!

My 79'Trand Am had that plastic on my door panels and the backs of my seats. They would crumble to powder in your hands. If your finger nail came crossed it, it would turn to powder. That was back in the mid 90's. They still use that plastic.

Installed the exact headliner in my hatchback last weekend. Sure brought it back to life! No more foam in the eyes lol. Gotta love Lmr.

The shape an interior is in factors heavily in whether I will buy a car. It’s the part I see when I drive it and the part my backside touches. Every fox I’ve had has had an excellent interior. I wouldn’t buy one if it didn’t.

Waiting for some LMR boxes myself to finish my 331 build.

A heat gun can do wonders on plastic. You can use different items to re-create the texture. The heat gun can reflow the plastic on the surface of the panel.

If you play a bit, I'm sure you can get bedliner to look pretty good and then dye. Some are not rubber and would be the best substrate.

Yes it is true, there is only so much you can dye/paint to cover up, good parts are the hardest to find.

There is a pretty clean fox body in Las Vegas on offerup. It’s a white 5.0 convertible. The pics look great. And it only has 87k miles.

Ive fixed scratchs on mine with a heat gun you just have to be careful not to stay in one spot to long

You could’ve filled in the gashes. Sand, prep & paint. To replicate the grain of the plastic so it can all blend can be done. Just takes a little time. They have a lot of videos on plastic repair.

But the plastic is still deteriorating and will scrape easily.

@@hotrodray6802 the gashes on these panels were made by hard force. Theyre not that brittle. And after dying shouldn’t crack if prepped correctly.

I feel ya bro, finding parts for my 1993 5.0 Thunderbird lx has not been easy either. While lmr is great there have been many Thunderbird specific things I've had to buy used or NOS on ebay. It's really a labor of love 80's & 90's Fords, the aftermarket isn't as kind to them or even consider them classics the way they do 60's & 70's cars.😅

I work in injection molding so I totally understand those interior panels take a massive machine and mold to reproduce just hard facts good luck with your hunt I have a set for my 89 hatch nfs

It's alot of work but a nice clean interior is SO worth it. I just swapped 95% of my 03'Crown Vic Police Interceptor interior from that camel color Ford used to a charcoal Grey/Black setup. It looks way better

Was a normal windshield replacement company able to replace the windshield?

Can't put some sort of filler in the cracks and gouges, then sand, prep and repaint? It's extra work but it can be done.
