- "Julia" was the song that got me into Asylum Party. I often found myself listening to this song during the rain as the hypnotic melody immersed me into a daydream.
I loved watching the original music video so I got a bit carried away here haha. I also created a second guitar part in leu of the synth.

Shoegaze sounding and nice!
Et dire que j'ai raté le concert d'Asylum Party en 91 à l'Espace à Rennes. J'étais en seconde à l'époque et j'écoutait souvent la radio locale Canal B qui en avait fait la promo justement. J'avais découvert le groupe lors de l'émission "Tempo" sur FR3 Bretagne/Pays de Loire (l'émission était commune aux deux stations régionales), en 90 si je me souvient, avec le joli clip de "Misfortunes".
La Touching Pop faisait grincer les dents (jalousie?) de certains dans le milieu rock Rennais alternatif mais surtout pas les miennes !
Belle reprise que voilà ! En amorce cette lourde ligne de basse rythmique martelée telle une cavalcade soutenue et inarrêtable ponctuée par une envolée mélodique simple mais imparable avec un saut dans les aigus si spécifique à la Touching Pop et qui plus est à Asylum Party.
"Julia" et "Play Alone" sont les deux morceaux phare de l'album "Borderline" (la version CD qui inclut le mini album "Picture One") qui ne comporte par ailleurs que du très bon !
De prime abord pas la plus festive des musiques mais qui avait le don formidable de vous entrainer avec une telle efficacité dans une sorte de dépression élévatrice : enivrante, inspirante et stimulante.
Beau clin d'œil au clip de Julia tourné à l'occasion d'un concours Yamaha : le perfecto en cuir, la saharienne...
C'était une histoire tellement fascinante! Merci beaucoup... J'ai adoré le clip de Julia et je l'ai trouvé inspirant.
Je suis passé par Rennes pour la fac en 89/92, ASYLUM PARTY est un groupe qui deviendra de plus en plus culte. A l'époque c'était une evidence tant leur son était unique. J'ai écouté les autres groupes de LIVELY ART mais c le seul qui valait le coup.
@@didierg2076 Certes les autres groupes de la Touching Pop n'ont pas le même son si indéfinissable et captivant d'Asylum Party mais Il y a quelques très bons titres (entre autres) :

Ce qui est "drôle" c'est qu'en regardant les commentaires et les posts sur UA-cam j'ai constaté qu'Asylum Party est depuis quelques années connu des amateurs de "cold wave" européenne dans un certain nombre de pays en Amérique Latine.
Je ne sais comment "Day Disguise" en est arrivé à connaître Asylum Party mais ça reste étonnant (sa reprise est très fidèle, il semble très fan du morceau (et du "clip" du tremplin Yamaha). Moi qui voyait à l'époque la Touching Pop comme un truc très franco-français ça me surprend un peu.
Ca fait presque 35 ans (!!!) que j'écoute pas mal de musique et je n'ai jamais rencontré quoi que ce soit qui m'ait autant marqué que l'album Borderline/Picture One d'Asylum Party (j'ai usé le CD de l'époque!). Cet album ne semble jamais pouvoir vieillir, un truc de dingue ! Seul Marc Seberg avait autant capté mon attention quelques années plus tôt.

Right, shoegaze uses guitars and pedals, not synths.
too much effects on everything, I would prefer a cleaner sound. Great skills man, I just wish I could hear them past all the noise.
Totally feel you haha. I'm a shoegaze artist... noise is kind of our thing, but it's certainly not for everyone.
