Very professional & comprehensive clip. I suppose you are the same caliber of the "car seat lady", if not better . I do daily car pools for my 3 & 4 years old grandchildren. Frankly, its pretty damned complicated to install 2 car seats properly.I live in NY area, however if I would have been living in your area,I would not think twice ,i would not hesitate,I would have hired you to install the car seats (pay for the service). Better safe than sorry.
Thank you for this! Just today we were measuring trying to figure out what 3rd carseat to buy before our third is here in April. I was stressing out because I couldn't get our current carseats to fit using a measuring tape. We can't afford to buy a new car right now. This video has eased my piece of mind and I know exactly what to buy now and how to install them! Thank you.
Hello! We have 4 kids, 2, 3.5, 5, 7 years. The younger two are big for their age. Vehicle 1: F250 supercrew. Bench seat in front (no front center seat airbag). Vehicle 2: Subaru STi - can't fit everyone but would like to fit the older three for the next two years or so. We have the minivan set up for most kid trips, but sometimes I go straight from work and can't get the van from my wife so want to have car seats in all cars.
Great video! Could I suggest removing the cup holders off of the Exec prior to install to have greater visibility? I'm surprised how many people don't realise you can wiggle them off
in one of the videos can you show with a doll how you would go about buckling the middle child? i feel like thats gotta be difficult especially rear facing! or could you put the infant seat in the center and then lift and place them in the base on the forward seat side? just wondering what you think is the least hassle and gets everyone buckled properly!
This is a really awesome question! So you're already using more problem solving than most people just by bringing this up. This is a really important consideration and like what I would say is I generally would position a RF convertible seat behind the passenger because that opens up onto the sidewalk not into traffic. Infant ideally in the center and place infant in then oldest comes around to a ff seat behind the driver. But like there are so many variables it would really depend on so much but like I love this question and totally agree with you that this is a HUGE factor when we think about seat placement. A+ question.
@@destinationbabykids thank you so much! i’ve installed seats for family as im most familiar with them and do a lot of research (and used to be a gear specialist at pottery barn kids) so i definitely have thought about this a lot! definitely going to try out positioning when i face these installations!
Yes many times. Infant seats are 17 inches wide at the widest point usually so its more an issue of making sure they have a good seat belt lock off. The older kids could sit in any of the seats shown in the video. A newborn can too but an infant seat is sometimes easier to manage.
Have you tried putting 3 across in a Honda Civic or anything comparable? I have a 2014 Honda Civic Sedan- 3rd baby arriving in December. We don’t want to buy a new vehicle yet. These videos give me hope- I’m so grateful for all the excellent details. I watched your videos on the slim car seats and that was super informative. I would lean towards the Graco slim fit 3 lx or that Nuna slim one that is featured. I would need one forward facing and 2 rear facing for my children based on ages/weight, height.
That mercedes was so tight on the inside I would suspect your Civic is actually going to be more accommodating for space. Did you see the evanflo revolve slim? I have a video about that one and what I do like about that is the install is really easy and it takes taller kids for the forward facing mode. If you have more questions you can lmk but best of luck in finding a seat that works for you.
Hey, we have a 7 year old, 30month old and due 3rd baby early next year. We have a Mazda 6 estate. Currently have maxi cost car seat iso-fix base for both car seats. Any advise would be great? Xx
So I suspect you are outside of the US which means that the choices for you are totally different than what I can helpful with. I would maybe contact maxi cosi directly and see if they have any experts on staff that can advise the best course of action for you. I'm sorry I can't be more helpful. I know 3 across is achievable for you but I want you to get advice from people that know the seats in your country and can accurately suggest things. I appreciate you watching and congrats on the new baby :)
So you would want to check the vehicle manual and the car seat manual to make sure there wasn't any specific indication against it. The primary thing I would look for is airbag issues and that would be vehicle dependent. Great question.
After watching your videos I was dead set on getting the Nuna Exec because the install looks so much easier but it’s not available in Canada. Any other recommendations? I have a 2016 Kia optima, a liingo and a foonf. I’m looking to replace the liingo with a fllo. Not too many options on the Canadian market for seats with rebound bars. Any suggestions?
I would be happy to consult with some Canadian Technicians just to make sure I don't offer anything that is irrelevant to you. Are you looking for 3 across or two? Happy to check into this for you and appreciate this kind of question.
You consider this small but the car width is 1830mm which is the same or only a few cm less than some of the 7 seat suvs im looking at buying and i cant see an adult fitting inbetween car seats looking at this vid. Is it really like that for everything but the super big and expensive suvs?
Hi there, aren't you getting 'buckle crunch' on the middle seat? The belt buckle is touching the seat. The risk is that, in a crash, the buckle is damaged releasing the seat belt (in turn releasing the car seat). I've read elsewhere that you should have some space between the car seats which means that 3 across is basically not possible on almost every car including this Mercedes. Otherwise helpful video thanks.
Buckle Crunch is not really addressed in American Car seat safety courses and we have ways around it like twisting the buckle stock or making sure the seat doesn't sit on the buckle. I didn't find it to be problematic in my installation but if you are having different results in your mercedes I can't speak to that. Appreciate you watching and asking :)
Not yet. I have to rent a Y and need to procure some additional seats. I do this stuff in my free time and I pay for all the products I show so it's both delightfully time consuming and costly to do but I will reach out to you here in this comment section once it goes up.
Thank you for this video. It's exactly what I was looking for!

Is it ok to scoot the seats close to the door? Will it still work fine safety wise?
