It's funny that I'm paying University to learn French but I don't understand my teacher, so I have to find Alexas videos to understand my class. Thank you Alexa for making this videos! Merci!!
I've never understood "y" and "en" in French but this video has really cleared it up for me, it makes so much sense. I think I can finally use it and understand it!
Really, I'm stunned at how clear Alexa's lessons are. Some of us have spent years trying to get these grammar lessons straight. It's taught me "it's not me, it's them" (the teachers). Kudos Alexa.
I've asked many french speaking ppl over the years to explain the meaning of y and en and how they are used and nobody could ever explain it. Thanks a million!!! This was an excellent and important teaching for anyone trying to learn french.
Une des meilleures professeurs de français pour les Anglophones sur UA-cam! 10/10 J'utilise tes vidéos beaucoup avec mes élèves. Tes leçons sont tellement claires et faciles à suivre. Merci beaucoup!
Now, this class makes a lot of sense. Thank you Alexa for making life in learning French much more easier. I completed your basic French lessons from 1 - 55 chapters. And now I understand the importance of those lessons. It gives me a strong base to explore more into French learning. I used wonder and got confused à lot of times when I saw 'y' and 'en' in a lot of sentences. After this lesson, I understood why those characters appeared. That makes sense.
I didn't understood these two pronouns and their use till now! Absolutely amazing explanation, I finally understand when to use them and what is the meaning and actual point of using them. Thank you Alexa!
These lessons are so helpful. I get really confused in my all-oral beginning French class with little English explanation and not enough examples, so I am reviewing with Alexa and she’s great.
Thank you very much indeed.I have always found this subject very confusing and couldn't understand it.But,thanks to you I fully understand it.I am so grateful to you.You explained it beautiful and clearly.A big thanks to you
Dear Madame Alexa, I still love your old videos like this where I see you in the video all the time, I can mimic the movement of your lips when you speak. And it also feels like a teacher teaching in a classroom 😁 I prefer this than your recent prerecorded videos. missing the warmth I get from your older videos ❤️
Je suis en train d'appliquer pour TAPIF et je suis vraiment nerveux à écrire mon app, donc je regarde tes vidéos à m'améliorer mon français. Merci beaucoup Alexa!
I have my exams coming up and i was clueless about the grammar topics....I just binge watched all your videos and its super clear now. Thank you so much!!!
I was listening to Zaz today (as I sometimes do) and I could clearly recognize two lines I never understood before: J'en peux plus (Dans ma rue) Je n'en veux plus (J'ai tant escamoté) Only because i watched this video yesterday! Unbelievable how effective these lessons are!
At 2:40 into this video, Alexa demonstrated use of "y" in the responding sentence "Ils y habitent depuis 1 an." But I think the technically correct response would be "Ils y habitaient depuis 1 an", using the imperfect (imparfait) tense. However, using the present tense "habitent" keeps it simpler for beginners.
I have wanted to learn French for a long time but courses are expensive and time consuming. Thank you so much for these classes. Very simple and I’m on my way!
Hi Alexa, First a BIG THANK YOU! MERCI BEAUCOUP! Thank you for helping me out with so many of my French queries and problems. Can you please upload an explanatory video on Direct Objects and Indirect Objects? It's very confusing but am sure you can help me get it easily. Thanks a ton in advance. Love you! Bisou bisou!
Hello, I do explain DOP and DOI on one of my lessons on my website :) As everything is given for free on UA-cam I tend to keep the harder explanation for my course but I will try to produce one for UA-cam too :)
Basically, "en" refers to quantity , replacing "de & du", "des" would be plural, while "y" refers to singularity.. And "en" is also used as "in" beside a feminine noun.. Like "Il est en classe" (he's in class), the noun is class and it's also feminine or "Je suis né en France" (I was born in France).. Here is an example with both prepositions in it, "Je suis né en France, mais je n'y suis pas né" (I was born in France, but I wasn't born there).. Merci beaucoup Alexa, c'était une autre leçon intelligente 💯
This video really helps. Simple but detailed. Thanks a lot for the numerous examples. Now I understand better how to use them. I love the floating words. I paused the video to let myself to answer before the examples of the answers appeared. And your appearence on the video is very amusing. I kinda feel connected to you. Once again thanks a lot!
Alexa, I appreciate all of your efforts. You obviously care about high quality videos and about sharing your knowledge of French. Keep doing this. There are a lot of resources out there to teach french but you have a way of providing content that doesn't spoon feed us but at the same time, provides baby steps that connect videos to one another, like a metaphorical bread crumb trail. Thank you.
As a French i find your explanations very clear because you help me to discover thé logic of my mother tongue 😅 French language is special...And realize how difficult he is for non-french-spoken people 🙄
Hey Alexa ...u r awesome ....u are a blessing for me ... I wish if I could meet you once in my life and wanna thank you for making our lives easy ....by explaining difficult concepts in easy ways ...GBU with everything
I'm sure if I would have had you as a French instructor, I would have been speaking French instead of muddling my way through! Thank you for your videos!
In case someone out there is wondering, "On y va" looks to be different from the rule but in reality is not. Because as you may know, "va" comes from the verb "aller" (to go) and it requires à to present an indirect object. For example, you cannot say "Je vais l'école" you have to say "Je vais à l'école". Thus why in the case of On y va, "y" is replacing à+endroit(place). Hope this helps!
it is useful for me, we saved my french test tomorrow. Many thanks your disponiblity and overall your simpathy that you behave to us, Peaceandlove. keep on.
I feel like I'm understanding french better. Thanks Alexa!

Why pay a big university that doesn’t care when you can pay Alexa and actually learn something. 😝
The best explanation of Y and EN I've ever heard since first learning French half a century ago. Très claire et remarquable!
I learned in a few days
@@TheJayWay101Yeah, but half a century ago the Internet was not nearly as common 😂.
You had to work harder to seek information and guidance.
