I used to speak good French 60 years ago when I lived in France but though I can still read it I have forgotten most of it but your videos are helping me to speak that beautiful language again.
Wow....I understood about 80% of the phrases before the visuals!! I'm glad that my ear is getting better. I've always struggled with having good reading and writing comprehension but not being able to "hear" outside the classroom.
@@scholasticacooney6830 but have you noticed whether certain French speakers are easier to understand? Like sometimes Canadian French or even African French I can understand better....
@@D.C.22 I do agree. That said, I find African French easier to understand than even Canadian French. I dated a Quebecois for a while and I could not understand his family members. Their accent can be so different.
I came across this channel recently when I was searching to learn French songs. I like this channel and will keep learning with Alex. I Alex could post some beautiful classical soft-tender songs such as "La vie en Rose"
Lights goimg on! Ears unplugged! Finally, aural comprehension happening!!! 🤣😃😀 Merci beaucoup!!! Excellent! Love your info on liaison. Super helpful. ☺
Well, try to replicate the sound of words, possibly slowing down the pace of the videos you watch. Be detail-oriented. Definitely watch my videos since I constantly break down the difference between the way read a sentence vs the way it is actually pronounced in a conversation. Ultimately, that makes a big difference, at least in terms of listening comprehension.
When it's the last word of a sentence, and there's nothing that comes after, you'll hear some sort of schwa, but if there's something else coming after, you shouldn't hear that silent "e".

Alex - sometimes you pronounce/enunciate the otherwise silent "e" at the end of a word (triste) but other times, not. What's the rule?

Great
Ahh...la dalle...now I've a clearer understanding of the L.E.J. song.
I believe the word is "aural", as in listening comprehension.
I'd never thought about that, but it makes sense :)
Where's English, didn't understand anything :(
2nd part of the video: I go over each sentence and wrote the sentences in English on the board :)
