I just relocated to Greenville in Dec of 2022 from Chicago. I am retiring this year. I spent the last 6 years looking for where I wanted to spend the next chapter of my life. I didn't want to spend about 5 months or so inside my house anymore because it was too cold to go outside but yet still wanted the four seasons. The winter weather is very mild with almost no snow. This is a fantastic place to be, this city and surrounding burbs are exploding with new construction as more and more people are discovering this gem of a city. Greenville has so much to offer, I love it here.
I'm glad you were able to come down to Greenville, especially at peak weekend for fall colors. Since I was a kid in the 90s, the downtown area of Greenville has really improved, especially near The Falls Park and West End Stadium (Fluor Field), which used to be a very rough area until more recently. I went to a Yanni concert for my 30th birthday a few years ago at Peace Concert Hall (10:32). In the spring and summer months, there are outdoor concerts at the amphitheater (12:24) near The Peace Center. The structure at 13:52 is an old mill that was repurposed for community events like ice skating in the winter (weather permitting). The building that houses the Paloma restaurant (24:30) used to be The Greenville News building until a few years ago when they relocated to a smaller building, and tore down the original building to make room for the ones you see there today. The only thing that we need now is a better mass transit system than just buses that no one takes. It would be great if there could be a metro system to connect the various points of interest in Greenville and one that would also connect Greenville with the airport, Spartanburg, and Anderson.
Thanks for commenting and for the info. Yes, I'm a huge mass transit advocate so if Greenville can improve in that area the way they have so well in other areas, it would be really something.
Don’t think I could afford where most of this wonderful video was filmed. I’ve been researching the suburbs of Greenville. Overwhelming!! So many great towns think I’m down to two, TR & Simpsonville,,,any thoughts..? Budget is $400k
It seems a common theme to see people escaping from such places as NY, Chicago, and CA. I sure hope they all recognize how the political views of the majority in those areas absolutely ruined nice places and don't bring those voting trends down here. I am a CA refugee myself and anywhere I go, I vote to keep it as is and as far from where I came from as possible lol. Great video by the way!
Thank you for this video. I love when people are able to explore my adopted hometown. While the population is only 70k, as you stated, it punches well above its weight class. I’ve had people from NYC visit and say they could see themselves living here, and I see you’re no exception to the rule. Lol Greenville likely will be where Raleigh is today in the next 10-15 years.
Population is because of the very small city limits. Greenville County has 525,000 people and 300,000 within 5 miles of downtown so the city population is very misleading.
My wife and I are retiring this coming October. Greenville area is on the top of our list for our next(and last) chapter. We have been to greenville twice. We are currently in Maryland and our house is going up for sale very soon.
Good luck with your move! We keep looking and looking and trying to decide where we might move someday from high tax New Jersey. We looked at Greenville, Knoxville and Asheville and that's how we would rank the 3 based on what we saw. We'll see!
@ 4:10 "Southern city with a LOT of new construction!" LMAO!!! You sound shocked lol.. What did you expect? Are we not allowed to have new construction or something? Who knows, with a little luck we might have indoor plumbing someday too!
😅 lol We were impressed with Downtown Greenville. We’d heard good things about but actually seeing all that is going on there was something. We’re actually expecting really nice places in the South compared to the North but Greenville exceeded expectations.
How's the parking situation in Downton Greenville? Can a commuter from the Greenville suburbs drive in to downtown find a parking space and enjoy the day?
I live in California. What I find most interesting is the lack of homeless trash camps on every sidewalk in sight. Greenville is so clean I just can't get over it. Here in Cali every single city of any size is basically the land of the walking dead. You'll either get mugged or step on human poo walking around like that. I need to get out of here.
@@jeffaddis5715 If I ever get out of California the last thing I would ever do is vote for what ruined California. One would have to be insane to do that.

Thanks Dustin and I couldn’t agree more.
Great video, thank you for taking the time to do this and upload!

The old building structure by the river is the remaining building of an old mill house. They now host weddings there.
That's what I was wondering and I'm glad you commented to inform me!
@@BillKing3456 I actually think it is the historic carriage house
Walking downtown in a nice day you will hear people speaking in German and French.
It was built for Northern transplants. It's totally unlike the Greenville I grew up in.
The Peace Center is where a smaller concerts are held. Maybe 5000 people.
My Home! Greenville is made for the fall. Lots of downtown events during that time of year.

There are lots of parking garages.
Richardson St garage is free on weekend. Other garages are public and privately co owned so most are really cheap!

Nick Johnson just did a series on California and you're not alone.
please leave mainstream California politics in california when you come
