I remember playing the first game, a long time ago! Some artwork of a titan being chained and captured by humans stuck with me, but I can't find it anywhere
I remember the first game from ages ago, didn't expect a sequel. Will stick it on my wishlist.
i think it came with my Steam download back in the day? Or it was one of some free games being offered at the time? It was definitely a dozen hours or so of fun, but I'm not great with puzzle games, and it's definitely more of a puzzle game.

Been a player of Abby games for a long time, started with Reus 1, very enjoyable time, nice ot see coverage of the sequel!
As soon as I saw the title I had a blast from the past. I still remember all those years ago the Reus gameplay video, here's to fond memories and more to come.
This game seems like a boardgame turning digital. Really liked the art used, very pretty, it's already on my wishlist!

Well if there's another one like it, it's not unique. Unique doesn't indicate rarity, it indicates singularity. If there's more than one, unique can't apply to it.

An absolutely legendary game and an interesting sequel
Abbey Games is probably the best Game Dev studio. Got some really great sleeper game that get overlooked. Seeing that they are making a sequal to Reus (which is just the Dutch word for giant) has me hopefull they'll ever make a remake/sequal to the Renowned League of Explorers!
Looking forward to Reus 2, assuming it's not overpriced

Once you said it was like slipways I immediately became 10 times more interested.
I loved the first one, and the look of this demo tells me I'm going to like the second one as well.

what i remember from the first game that certain terrain and biome combos made a new biome. and you evantually unlocked a new reus. (btw fun fact reus is a dutch word and it stands for giant. the devs are dutch to)
Yes there was a tree titans, his roles seems theav been merged between the sea and swamp titans.
Yeah, his one seems to have got himself rid of a lot of the environrùrntal puzzle aspect of the first gae to be a more direct god game. I honneslty think it's a bit of a shame as it part of what made the first game so original, the focus on manpulating nature and interraction rather than direct control.

Nice to see what this game is looking like. Not sure I am a fan of the changes from the first game, kind of seems dumbed down in areas. But maybe it makes up for it in other ways. BTW, I believe "reus" is a single syllable word, pronounced like the word loose, but with an 'r' instead of an 'l'. As others have mentioned it is a dutch word for giant.
This demo contains 50% of the game in terms of mechanics, there will be much more!
It is indeed a single syllable, but I think the sound in English closest to the Dutch "eu" is the short "u" like in "fur" spoken as exaggeratedly British as you can 😆
Think of the way you would pronounce the "eu" from "Europe", only without the "j" sound English speakers like to put in front of it.
The "oo" like in "loose" has its Dutch counterpart in "oe".

Did you notice at 6:40 your second inspiration option actually changed to Stone cutter? I know you thought switching gods might change it, but it was still the cat tower when you first selected stone god. Wondering if I’m tripping 😂

The inspiration changed when you went back to it right before you chose Gem Seeker.
You can see it at 6:42, it is now Stone Cutter instead of Cat Temple.
So maybe which Titan you use does make a difference and it just took a second for the game to register the change?

Would be interested to see coverage of this once it's out and see what it looks like later in the game. As is, just looks like Reus again, which I found kind of boring, but some of the things they indicate are new might be interesting, depending on how they actually work.

Played the first game and quickly tired of it as it seemed kind of basic. Might have to go back and play it a bit and think about this.

I think Reus 1 was a puzzle game with god game aesthetic, but not an actual god game.

the terraforming looked better in the first game and the original 4 avatars looked cooler to but the animations look way better and gameplay is a lot more interesting
Well, this a demo, they are still refining things, and it looks like the game will go on WAAAY longer than the original, so I'd say that, if the trade-offs are somewhat worse looking terraforming animations and titans (even though I think it will be addressed), then I'd say it's a good trade.

Uh interesting it looks that in this one, you can grow jungle even without making the earth humid by ceating oceans. eserts were created by building a moutain near dry earth rather than placed directly and so on... Same that in the first game, you didn't choose exactly what animals you put, instead you choosed a kind (toxic, exotic, etc) and the the environement choose which they were....Loose a lot of the ecosystem interraction puzzle aspect there was in the first one which seems a shame to me.
Woulda loved Renowned Explorers 2 instead from those devs, but okay
