  • I picked these products up in Morrisons the other day - The Cod was in the 3 for £10.00 range of foods - in each pack there are 2 Cod Fillets which are boned but do have the skin on ! The Schwarz sauce was £2.39 p So what were they like ?
    For me personally the Cod was excellent it was white and flaky and had a really gentle taste ! not fishy at all - would I buy it again ? Yes I would but only if I could not get to Lidl or Aldi where they do 4 cod fillets for £3.75p which are equally as good as the Morrisons fillets - Aldi and Lidl also do Haddock fillets at the same price and they are well worth buying if you like Fish - but dont buy the Bassa ! check out on the internet why you should not have Bassa - The Schwarz sauce was very nice but did not really work with the fish in my opinion and for me it ruined a good piece of fish - dont get me wrong the sauce was very nice and would be great I am sure with other things - You can also buy this sauce from Poundstretcher for £1.29p so it does pay to shop around !
    Overall the Cod fillets were excellent and I have to score them 10 out of 10 - but if you want the same quality for more product go to Lidl or Aldi - The Sauce was fine and again I score it 10 out of 10 even though it did not work with the Cod for me ! but again remember you can get it much cheaper in Poundstretcher !!

      Good Morning Tony, thank you for the comment - I do like fish and will eat all of it except for Salmon and Skate - I also like meat but it is nice to have a change occasionally - I have to agree most things when Marinated are much better and foods from overseas always seem so much tastier than the standard UK Meat and 2 veg meals - the world is now open to us of course with so many different global flavours on sale - Thank you for you kind wishes they mean a lot to me - I hope all is well with you and you have a wonderful weekend filled with Love and Laughter - :-)

    Hi Graham - looks nice fish - I wish I could afford to eat more fish but its so expensive but thanks for the heads up about the Haddock from Alidi and Lidi. I love Smoked Haddock the bright yellow dyed fish which my nan used to cook in milk and butter and served with crusty bread with more thick proper butter. And the Sauce looks great but I think it would work well with chicken in the slow cooker and served with noodles. Cheers Paul

      Good Morning Paul, thank you for the comment - I do like fish and the ones from Aldi and Lidl are really good and at a cheaper price for 4 fillets rather than 2 - I agree with you Smoked Haddock is really nice I dont often get it due to the price but when I do I love it - The Sauce spoiled it for me ! to be honest the sauce was good but it did not work with the fish in my opinion although it is sold at the fishmongers part of Morrisons ! but who am I to say no ! lol - I am sure it would be better with Chicken ! I hope you have a great weekend my friend :-)

    Great review, I have to agree on the part about the price versus the quantity which seems to let this product down a little despite it being tasty. I'll have to give it a shot, and see what it's like, so far out of the products I have tried after hearing your review I've really liked. Also on my try-radar is them sausages you reviewed a few days ago from the Italiamo range in Lidl. They did look absolutely divine! As always I hope you, Layla and we can't forget about the boss himself Ted, have a great weekend :D

      Good Morning FergieWergie, thank you for the comment - I am so happy that you have enjoyed the products I have reviewed and you have tried them and liked them - you very kind words make the channel worthwhile doing - The Italian Sausages are very good indeed - most of the Italiamo range is nice to be honest - I am fine and Layla and Ted are both sleeping as I write ! its a hard life being cute ! wishing you a great weekend :-)

    A little recommendation for you is the specially selected pea snd ham hock soup from aldi, its in the tall plastic container. It needs a bit of salt (as do most things) but its my favourite soup and full of tender meat. Cheers, Ben

    Maybe you could use that sauce on chicken Graham, if it masks the flavour of fish maybe it’ll do that for chicken for ya

      Good Morning BigDaddi, thank you for the comment ! oddly enough I did a whole roast Chicken for the evening meal yesterday ! I am quite happy eating Chicken that way as it tastes like Chicken used to taste ! I still struggle with the Chicken we get that is pre cooked and butchered though ! sounds odd I know but when it comes that way it seems to lose all its taste ! the sauce was a decent sauce but for me it simply didnt go with the fish ! have a great Weekend :-)

    Sounds like the sauce is great for when you have to eat something you don't like at all, as it masks the original taste! 😂 Hahaha 😂

    I definitely like the cod fillets but prefer it without the skin, but for the price as you said shop around if Aldi and Lidl are doing the same product cheaper and without the skin but I don't think I'd have that sauce 🤔 I never have lemon juice on my fish and the same goes with lime juice but then that's just me. Personally I would prefer it with mash garden peas and parsley sauce 👍👍🐟

      Good Morning Robert, thank you for the comment - the Cod was very nice but you can get it much cheaper for 4 fillets from Aldi and Lidl and it is just as good in quality - Again the Sauce was nice but for me did not work with the fish as it overpowered the Cod - again it is cheaper in Poundstretcher and it certainly pays to shop around - Skin on fish does not really bother me I can either take it or leave it ! but if I find a bone that is me finished !! they really turn my stomach ! have a great Friday my Friend :-)

      Now you are taking my language I am exactly the same it crucifies if I find a bone in my fish. I always have my fish and chips with mushy peas and old school curry sauce but never pour them over the fish and keep them on the side as if I find a bone I totally disect the fish to search for any other bones. And definitely with you on the Basa I would not touch that with a barge pole 👍👍🐟🦴

      Hi Graham & Robert, not a fish person really, but i do like fish in batter from the chippy & i do like a bit of skin on my fish sometimes if it's crispy. I do like smoked kippers with the butter, but although the bones are SUPPOSED to be edible, i still spend all my time picking the bones out (my nan got a fish bone stuck in her throat) & then the fish is cold & the taste stays with me for so long ughh

    • @robertlindop9365
      @robertlindop9365 16 днів тому

      If the fish has got skin on for me it has to be fried in batter. Skin on fish is more of a southern thing the chippies down south nearly always have skin on especially London but the further north you go it's mainly skin off .As for kippers you are a braver girl than me Kate I don't do them and the same goes with pilchards, Mackrell ,sardines and anchovies, an old work friend used to have kippers for his breakfast in work done in the microwave and the canteen stunk to high heavens all day 👍👍🐟

      @@robertlindop9365 🤣 i got into eating sardines & mackerel in the little tins with tomato sauce because they say it's good for you to eat some every week, i'd have it with sauerkraut, but i've gone off it a bit now. Yes, kippers stink the place out 😅
