Thank you so much for not only voting but also showing your process! I love seeing how people make their picks especially since it's been such a wild year for metal. Appreciate you my dude!
@@pyroboy417 I don't know. I've never streamed on Twitch. Only on UA-cam. I haven't managed to do a livestream yet with music without the VOD being claimed, but I'll just deal with it for the Nik Nocturnal awards.
@@heavymetalphilosophy Have you ever managed to see Shadow of Intent live? I've Seen them (only) twice, and they put on the tightest performances I've ever witnessed/heard. Ben's live vocals are some of the best in extreme metal right now. A small deathcore-ish band that is purely self-published Co-Headlining with FleshGod and Cattle Decap back to back is insane and a testament to their skill.
Morbid Saint - Swallowed By Hell is my pick for Album of the year and best Thrash Metal album of the year. Rut - Morbid Thoughts is my pick for best Death Metal album of the year.🤘🏻
Dope! Exactly what metal needs! We the people demand our actual representatives to be what they truly need to be...real metalheads. Support live music, and love life!
Metal blade include bandcamp codes with their vinyls, so they got my vote! (Also, tons of cool bands!) It is a fucking travesty that this isn't an industry standard! Shoutout to Debemur Morti, The Artisan Era and all the others who do this!
I voted INK for breakdown, because it was just so wild and probably also because they’re my favorite band so I might be biased. Gave some votes to Disembodied Tyrant as well, those guys are killing it
Dawg. I love your shirt, such an underrated band. I now understand why Shadow of Intent was mentioned only once on the poll...cause it wouldn't be fair for the other bands on it, they clearly blow everyone else out of the water 🤣
I voted Disembodied Tyrant and Aborted Vault of Horrors most definitely. Some votes I did out of favouritism, some because I knew who was going to win and wanted to show support for some underrated options. I voted Ratatata over Suffocate. The Olympics and Jimmy Kimmel were great, not gonna lie, but I think what Babymetal is doing will have a much better lasting legacy. American networks were a flop for them when they were featured on Stephen Colbert 8 years ago, so they had to adapt to digital marketing and build up a global audience. They just had a sold out tour across the east coast that’s wrapping it up across the US to California now. As someone who attended 2, I met so many new fans. Some came all the way from Canada to North Carolina to see them, and the show in DC was nuts. Even Poppy is going on an arena tour with them through the EU & UK next year, and it’s probably where they are going to premier their new collab together.
Awwww man. Maybe one day. My social media following is admittedly pretty small, but hopefully I can keep growing and get on the content creator list one day. 🤘🤘
I hate to be the one to say it, but the video for PINTGLASS/PALEFACE Site Mentality is better than everything on the "Best Video" list, with the exception of Powernerd
Sadly, i am also disappointed with Nick's award show called Metal show, because it is mostly just core stuff. There is so much more Genres releasing absolute perfect Stuff. :(
@@notreally-sf3df I don't I'm just noting the glaring lack of an entire genre. Wtf does boomer have to do with Thrash. I'm a millennial but keep stereotyping all Thrash fans lol. This Thrash = boomer trend is super cringe.
YEAR OF THE MOTH BABY!!! TCOTTC is my AOTY hands down. Far too good a record to be slept on and on top of that, they get better with every single record.
Yes. I would just recommend an extreme metal category so death and black metal would have their only place. That would be pretty much the only thing I would change. 🤘🤘
Sorry Jon, but I am absolutely sure that yours and Lindsay's AOTY lists will beat Nik's show hands down! Look how heavily that show is leaned towards core stuff. How come metalheads don't care about riffs, but pick their bleghs, callouts and breakdowns? Doom is not even mentioned - and we had few outstanding releases this year, which is really scarce nowadays. In few years from now, for me Vitriol will be the release that will be 2024's landmark. Although not necessarily AOTY, that album will make me remember the year. And it's not mentioned anywhere. On the other hand Spiritbox releasing just 2 videos nowhere near the quality of the previous album are all over the place... Come on... Poor death and black choices, very few black/prog/speed/heavy... Gaerea being last year's breakout (100% agree) - Nik only keeps pace with core scene, not all of metal it seems.
@@SuperStrik9 which thrash album you mean? I've registered several thrash/black ones but really good thrash? I only remember Flotsam & Jetsam. Kerry is just OK. Don't remember more - but that may be due to that enormous influx of great stuff, so please remind me.
Yeah would have loved to see some love for Paysage d'Hiver this year but not too surprised as his audience is primarily into core and nu metal stuff and less into death metal and black metal.
@Netjak Holy shit since when has Paysage d'Hiver so many monthly listeners? I thought it would be around 10k, but it's 30k. This man deserves respect for his work.

Thanks for doing this. Looking forward to it. 🤘🤘
My takeaways here: 1) somehow I missed out on DISEMBODIED TYRANT & 2) MIRAR is every bit as good as I thought. Welcome back, buddy!

@pyroboy417 yeah man, i' m old 😂
Most likely I will. I will announce next week if I do.
@@heavymetalphilosophy is twitch pretty easy going on fair-use? As long as your not just streaming a stream?

Nik maybe should put his votes on more than just twitch
Especially now that they allow multi streaming.
I'm not gonna lie, I would like it way more if there was more death and black metal.
And we definitly need Mr. Barbas on best metalhead to follow.
Nik should let me guest host an extreme metal category 😁🤘🤘
