This worked perfect another tip is make sure that clip ring opening is pointer at the 12:00 position you can use a little bit of grease if needed to keep up right and it will pop right in
Excellent tip Man. I’ve been messing with this thing for about an hour trying to get it in, gave up and started looking for videos like yours. It popped right in. Thank you so much!
So glad I found your video it gives me hope on my 2010 ford edge! Maybe I can get the S.O.B. In today. I have done spent many hours trying and bought a new c clip no luck never thought to take off Shock absorber! Gotta try this!
I removed the shock but used big 2 lbs hammer that i used to sit front wheel bearings. I had my father in law tapping at the end while I keep it straight. It did went all the way in sit nicely against the transmission. I think you cam damage the bearing if you yank and hit it up like your method.
This was it! I was doing it on a 98 Cherokee with a solid axle so same thing except no boots so I had to use a hammer on the end. The reason it took me hours to finally get it in was because I was afraid of beating it too hard because it’s far from pleasant doing the axle seals if I was to have damaged them. I’ll see later on if I did or didn’t. It’s an exciting step towards getting her ready for an alignment (wheel hub and ball joints) and getting new tires. Right now she’s not highway worthy because it has a built in 50mph warning i.e death wobble.
@@Kiirijayso u got in in just by pushing it like that u didn't have to hit it with a hammer after doing that ? I did it it's almost in got like a inch left of space
@@Kiirijay Thanks! I did compromise the seal but I needed to change the fluid and clean the diff out anyways since it has a small amount of metal traces in it (possibly never changed). I can say that I never wanna remove a diff carrier again 👍🏻
Hey atleast you got it done, props for seeing it through. I completely understand, only did it that one time and thank God I’ve never had to do it again.
It should have gone in all the way using this method, double check at the splines like I did at the end of the video. If not, try it again, I wouldn’t really advice using a mallet, that’s a lot of brute force.
@@Kiirijay ya .. ? That's how I've seen other vids they'd pop it in like that in this vid then mallet it in the rest . Ya it's like a inch tops from going all the way in I had the hole on ring up to 12 yur method got it in almost all the way . If I pull it it will come out like 2 more inches should I try twisting the axle and trying again or pop it out again and try over? I seen another vid that this guy's axle would not go in at all he said he had a bad part or something he bought a new one and got it in right away
It never hurts to try especially when everything else hasn’t worked. See how that pans out. Bad part makes sense, I think also because its hardly ever replaced so it’s almost stuck in a way and makes it hard to put back.. all the best though.
What are the odds that we are working on the same exact vehicle. I changed the strut and didn’t want to remove it again… , the little wood block is crucial, it helps the axle sit parallel and flush. I tried a couple hours, as soon as I put the block it went in within the first 2 minutes!
I hate these cv axel’s I never had one go in easy centering the clip on the inside part of the hub helps and turning the axel tell you feel it pop in also helps at least on a Honda, I’m so tired I don’t have the strength to pop back in the tie rod end back into place will do tomorrow morning wish me good luck 🍀
It’s 2 am and I spent the last 6 hours trying to get this axle in. Nobody helped like your video did. Thanks man
You’re very welcome, knowing my videos help people is why I do this. Thank you.
me and my brother have been trying for hours, then we watched your video, 30 seconds later it was in, thank you
Wow!.. reading this makes me so happy, am glad I could help.
I’ve
Been trying for five hours came across your video. Boom. I just want to say thank you for your knowledge.

Bro no way that worked. Half an hour later after removing my caliper, rotor, knuckle for “more room” it went in after I tried this tip. Thanks bro!🙌🏽

I’ve been exactly where you are, I spent countless hours trying until I finally figured it out, all the best. Please post an update
Thanks, mine won't go in. I was just afraid of damaging anything so that's why I didn't go all gorilla on it but I guess I gotta go full gorilla

Well it didn’t and the car ran fine with no issues. But there is more than one way to do things this just worked for me
Yo! Your video is a lifesaver. Thanks for the tips and all the best!

I fuckin love you buddy. Fuck every other video. Was so tired couldn’t get mine in lol. Then did your holding idea and boom

Damn, I just got mine in after a long struggle to get it OFF… The good news is that I didn’t have to tap it hard at all. THANK YOU!

Yes just by doing exactly like the video no hitting with hammer, as long as you have it on a block of wood and well aligned it should slide into place
