Nice review Andrew 👍 Just a suggestion, maybe you can include scores of other recommended products reviewed on the score summary section to ease comparison.
Awesome reviews Andrew, love the channel! I’d also like to get a Zenbook, though for me in Europe they cost up to 500$ more than in the US... maybe there will be a sale lol
Finally in stock at Walmart! It came in and then dropped out of stock several times! Thanks for your review on UM3406HA it was VERY HELPFUL! Bought one for son going to college this summer!
Using the 2023 q420 zenbook 14x with the I7 13700H I purchased in December. Really wish I would've waited a few months just for the battery life alone but still a great laptop. Amd chips are just waay more efficient right now
Here’s an idea for a video given OLED power consumption: all of the nonsense that are battery specs given by manufacturers in Milliamp Hours (MaH) or Watt Hours (WH), how the corded chargers work, how it all translates to external third party power banks and after market GaN wall adapters instead of charging bricks. It’s a rabbit hole if you go down it. I like to understand things. Understanding all of this is a challenge I’m finding. My laptop made it from Orlando to Phoenix with a 54 watt hour battery on an Airbus with no seat power. It got me thinking about acquiring a power bank capable of powering it. Anyone else feel the same about this all being a bit complex? We need to understand volts, watts, amps, capacity, etc. sometimes specified in varying ways. And as always Marc, thanks for the content.
For $799 at Walmart, the 2021 Asus Zenbook 14 OLED (UM3406HA) laptop is certainly a good bang for your buck if you're looking for something that won't break the bank. A student could get a lot of use out of this laptop for sure and as such, it's to be recommended! It's got a pretty nice OLED screen, love that it's an all-metal design with an excellent battery life, faster RAM performance, good webcam and internal mics, good AI effects, good internal speakers, upgradeable storage and it's thin and light. It is not without its issues, however, but for $799 it's a steal in my book. Thank you Andrew for another fabulous review!! 👍😁
Very good laptop at a reasonable price. With laptop prices higher in 2024 this appears to give one good value. Camera is good. Mics sounded a little flat at times. I do not know if it was the video or the pc itself. Speakers sounded okay. Display is good. This pc is not going to set any speed records as far as processing is concerned. This unit is good for day to day functions such as office applications and web use etc. At this price point it is a good buy. Excellent review from a great reviewer.
Great review and comparison, thanks! Question: on the Asus global website, they show that the UM3406 is available in a 2.8K 120Hz OLED display. That would make it the ideal laptop for me. But you mentioned this display configuration is not available for the Ryzen model. Is it possible to confirm that?
I wonder if we could simply swap display assembly for 2.8k like on Dells back in the day, 800 is a steal for those specs and even if paying 400 for 2.8k oled and then selling that from AMD for 200 at min, it would be 1k top speccd laptop
This is the third review of this laptop I watched and it is the first one to actually mention the speed of the ram. But in the previous review I watched this same laptop got a passing grade over 98% in 3Dmark, while in this review it was about 95%. How is that possible?
i need suggestion whether this amd um3406H zenbook is worth to buy or not if i were a student and would like to just do some lightweight gaming on weekend
In my country, there is only 120Hz options which difference in RAM and CPU. Only ultra9 185h has 32GB, Ultra7 and AMD only 16 GB. Which one I should buy ?
Do you recommend me buying UX3405 model? i.e. the Intel core Ultra with 2.8K OLED. Is it bad when compared to AMD one? Some people say that Asus has an AMD Bias and AMD one is more optimized than the Intel core Ultra one. What do you suggest?
This laptop is so good. Only one thing that drives me nuts: there is no auto time out for the keyboard backlight. Can’t even change it in BIOS. Drives me insane
A soldered wifi card is a strange choice. I see that the battery is taking up a large amount of space, but I can't imagine a 2230 M.2 card would be that hard to fit in there
I'd prefer the Intel model. More advanced or more future-proof (even the lower Intel model Q425MA that you reviewed two weeks ago that also sold for $800).
@@emaaddar5017 I think the Intel model mentioned in the review had at least these advantages: Laptop: Higher screen resolution and refresh rate. CPU: I don't want to compare benchmarks here but I would take the Intel Core Ultra over the AMD Ryzen 7.
@@andrewmarcdavid Not useless but I was referring to opening a laptops with one hand. I think that less people care about 200g of extra weight when packing a hand luggage, than the number of people who really like the open a laptop with one hand. It adds to perceived feeling of quality...
Thanks for the review!

You reviewed it in very detail. Especially when you pointed out the Model Numbers.
you are a very good reviewer keep it up.
I'm watching this on my new Core Ultra Zenbook 14 OLED. (The $799 sale at best buy was just too good to pass up).
Damn I wish I could've gotten that deal in the UK
tax incl?
@@elementx8046 No, another 5.5% added to the cost for sales tax in my state.
@@misterk7_-definitely, the UK sucks in comparison for such offers
damnnnn wtf is with those deals. I got mine for around $400 more for the ultra 5 version in my country (philippines, btw) which kinda sucks

Thanks for covering this unit. For the price and build quality plus AMD variant is a fantastic combo in my opinion!
First 👍 best wishes from Sri Lanka... 😊
Unbiased. Keep it up!
This same configuration cost 1,199€ here in France
I’ll extend the +300€ for 1TB 120hz on the Hp Spectre x360

Hi Andrew - at the same price point, do you have a preference between the 3406 & the Q425?

I am curious how you calculate your scoring system for laptops.
Having a really diffucult time deciding on UX3405, this one, or the Q425.
What are the differences between these models? It seems the lid cover finish is the only real difference.
Please review lenovo yoga pro 7 2024 with AMD ryzen 7 8845Hs + 3050 6GB.

Can you review the new HP Envy x360 16 inch 2024
Which is laptop if the year 2024 for students at university
So..which variant is the "better" option given they are the same price?
This laptop is so good. Only one thing that drives me nuts: there is no auto time out for the keyboard backlight. Can’t even change it in BIOS. Drives me insane
Can you turn it off?
I wish they would make zenbook 16 inch with this kinda build quality. 14 inch is too cramp for my taste.
If this was 120hz for an extra $100 or so it would be the best laptop in the market, hopefully they offer an option to upgrade next year.
60hz is fine, unless you’re going to be playing fps games
HAVE YOU REVIEWED THE T14 GEN 3 INTEL ? I COULDNT FIND IT
Which are the best laptops with snapdragon x elite that compete with MacBook Air ?
How long the battery would last if i mostly working on excel with screen 300nits? Approximately?
A soldered wifi card is a strange choice. I see that the battery is taking up a large amount of space, but I can't imagine a 2230 M.2 card would be that hard to fit in there
Compared to what Apple has offered, this is so appealing
Where is this for $799? On Asus' website its $999. Not sold anywhere else that i can find
Can you upgrade the storage to 1TB or 2 TBs?
Hey Andrew, when will you review the new envy x360?
Coming next week to the studio
please make it available in coupang korea. the ultra series is expensive
they could not have fitted any more stickers on that palm rest

I'm not a fan of the keyboard, but for others it is a value steal. Too many good things in it's favor, especially the 780M iGPU.
This one is better than macbook air m3?
Is this compatible with eGPUs??
Is there fingerprint sensor for this laptop?
I'm shocked the Intel Arc did better than the 780M!
Please can you review Dell detachable 7350?

is the battery as good as a macbook air m3 ?
Macbook Air M3 Battery life is overall better. That being said, battery life on this unit is quite good.

I noticed that too. Even Lenovo yoga pro 7 are like this
Qualcomm is going to bury both Intel and AMD.
Do not buy ASUS. I had a horrible warranty experience on a cheaply made laptop twenty years ago. Apparently they're still pulling this sht
