Convert here, my husband and I left 1-1/2 year ago after 30 years in. Thank goodness I’m free in Jesus! Thank you so much for your podcasts and all you do. Both of youand your families are in my prayers. We only have a married daughter, husband and their children that are still in. At first she had a hard time accepting us leaving, but it has become easier. She is sometimes open to a short unthreatening chat about it all, but have a serious case of HITTS. (Head in the Sand Syndrome) I realized after a bit that most of the folks in our field were not friends but church acquaintances. That took the pressure off of me expecting different behavior from them. I do have a half dozen very good friends that are still in “The Lie” and I have worked very up hard at maintaining those friendships. After a year or so, they are reciprocating. But there is a wedge there and it’s on their parts! I find it interesting that I ask them about meetings, things like, how was convention? Or who are you new workers? But they NEVER ask us a single thing about how we are doing, how is your church? What are you studying? It’s just crickets. I think they are so threatened by us and our newfound happiness and joy, they can’t acknowledge it. It’s sad and weird all at the same time.
I do have a worker that is related through marriage, sent me pictures of our common auntie. She doesnt talk trash but just about our aunt. I do appreciate the conversation as this aunt isnt in contact. She is over 100. Excommunication happened in Canada in the 90s. The workers literally asked the people is they sided with the workers. If they didnt answer yes right then, they were told not to come to meetings again. There was over 100 people dominoed!! Willis propp and dale schultz.
I too am glad your back. It takes a bit for the fear I made the right decision leaving to abate, but your "talks" giving scripture encourages me I've made a good choice. Thank you.
I have noticed for many years now, I like to talk about spiritual things outside the meeting with the “friends” to discuss more what God shows me that may be of interest to another. I'm almost always met with a short comment and the subject is quickly changed. When I have met with Christians outside this way, we are soon in a discussion that feeds our hearts. I want to practice the “Golden Rule”, not become a Pharisee.
I was shunned by some, but not others. Fortunately, most of my family (4 sisters) also left around the same time. Our mother, who is still in, never shunned any of us. I quickly made a ton of friends outside of this cult. I have also reconnected with a few that are still in and they are very cool and supportive.
I’m not nor have I been a part of any of the groups you talk about, yet I’ve been treated this way by evangelical Christian churches. They warm up when I first start attending and before long I’m getting the cold shoulder in many subtle ways so I leave. There are times I’ve stood up for the word of God regarding certain treatment, behavior of others and also doctrinal difference. Never do they call to ask why I left. No curiosity, as if they’re afraid to learn something about their “church” than to just continue in the status quo. Identity is a perfect word to describe them. They’ve been attending the same church for generations. I believe it happens, like I just said, in many churches. Hurts still.
The people who have “lost out” are pitied & looked down upon. They are avoided. -- They are treated worse than “outsiders.” Also, if one of the friends is married to an outsider, that person is treated as less than.
My husband made sure I was at meeting , headache or not and it was rare for anyone to come out and great him. He knew the bible better than I and I saw him as actually more Christian than I. After all that’s happened these last while maybe that’s why he died.
We left in Aug and hadn’t been out to a meeting since the previous Sept due to health issues. I sent the overseer of our area an email stating why we were leaving due to the doctrine and we never received a response but have not received any more emails from the field workers, so we know they got the email. Even family on my side and my wife’s side have never spoken of it since we told them. Only our elder keeps in touch from our meeting.
One of the workers said at the conventions that questioning people are the ones who cause the most problems. 😁 the workers arrived in Brazil in 1920, we asked if there was any old document dated 1800 that proved the continuity of the ministry, they replied that they were not aware of such documents and that faith should be enough.
My husband and I have been out for about 3 or 4 months now, I don't think we've been shunned as some of the friends still talk to us. But for me, I do not feel like engaging with them really. I think it is still too soon...and they make me feel sad for them. So we are keeping our distance while we find our new normal.
Look up the 1999 Alberta excommunication- lots of people were excommunicated by the workers. Also in MT when ones were excommunicated because of Truitt Oyler
47:24 “removing evil from among you” is another example of why there is a corrupt ministry in the worker church because of no understanding of scripture. They have a moral obligation to stop this insanity…and choose not to even try with a sliver of honesty. Sad. The workers and friends in our area are creating meetings for perps and doing it under the premise of “we all make mistakes.” 😮 Another example of the reasons child sexual abuse is rampant in the 2x2’s. If you’re still in meetings and think workers and friends judgment of you is the only way…John 14:6 There is a loving Christian community waiting to hear your story and share their joy with you. Think critically. Read and pray like your salvation depends on it. Choose Jesus only ✌️
A person in the sect will not talk God with someone who left. They believe you have the seed to plant in them of doubt and looking at the mechanics of the sect with a natural eye. They dont want to be tainted. One person said to me "I dont understand you." And in the next breath before i could answer, "I am satisfied with my choice." And the conversation was over. Never wanting an answer from me.
The workers in MT have told the ones in mtgs to not talk or connect with anyone that leave mtgs, they’ve lost out- so yes we are shunned if leaving mtgs
Thankfully my 4 siblings support me- they are all on fence and struggling. First of September, 4 of us met up and had our first spiritual visit between us. We realized for our past- go to mtg and no spiritual visits, so sad, visit about want goes on in our lives.
So speaking of salvation through Christ only, grace, assurance of Heaven, etc I keep remembering the letter of 95 that was sent out to the Friends. There is a section called Carson Cowan’s Revelation that is very interesting. From 1994 convention notes where he spoke…..He and some others were in a restaurant and offered thanks for their food. An unknown man approached Carson and asked him if he was going to Heaven. Carson said I hope so. The man said That’s the wrong answer and walked away. After more study, Carson said he answers Yes instead of I hope so. He also said “Our only way to Heaven is by the blood of Christ”. There is more in the letter and perhaps someone recalls this from the 90’s and can add more info. Anyway, I thought it was a bright spot in all this mess, for lack of a better term.
A question I want to ask the host... I remember when I went to meetings Workers and Friends referred to persons who fell away as 'Losing Out', 'Losing Their Joy' 'Going to a Lost Eternity,' 'Going To A Christless Grave'... I am not sure they used the word hell... Is This Hell Thing Real...😢 Do We Have To Fear These Things?😮
Something better then to bring a light to the falsehoods of a legalistic group and their actions that lead a multitude of folks to a lost eternity? No, there's nothing too much better to do! Hope you have a wonderful day!!

Same thing is happening to us! Can’t hide the Joy!!

That picture of that scary lady worker on your screen sums it up for me . They were so so mean to me . 😢

A like and a comment for the almighty apostate algoritm 💪🏼
Greetings from someone who escaped the Jehovah’s Witnesses.

I am so glad you are back. Missed listening to your videos. Looking forward to many more!

This is stirring up a lot of pain in me. Rejection can be so invalidating to a persons core being. 😢
I hear you.
Glad you’re back! Love these 😀

Sure do watch your videos. They are awesome.🎉🎉
In my Era they were told if you are caught communicating with one who has left you'd be excommunicated....

I am so sorry, they are just incredibly threatened,

Do We Have To Fear These Things?😮
You don’t have to have left to feel a degree of this and I don’t think they are aware of it.
They were of the old tough love mind set
Type of loon???
What nonsense 😢
Jude
Don't you guys got something better to do. Too funny. Boo hoo is all I hear.
