@@MrBurns-jc3kxim also stuck between 200 and 390 and i would say go for 390 it will suit you better for longer rides and for highway riding. If it was more for commuting thru the city 125 or 200 is best. My vote goes to 390 and i will most likely get 390 since its more powerful

Picked the 200 up for my wife. Got the 390 for myself. Only complaint so far is that the clock does not keep time well, at all. Haven't found anything online indicating this is a common issue.
The 200 needs a lot of throttle to get moving compared to other bikes.
    Nice weight.
    Easy to handle.
    Very responsive.
I agree - the tires are awesome.
I think it is the perfect beginner bike for my wife, who is 5' 4".

The Honda XR150L is coming to North America, and I was thinking that it would make a good 1st bike for me. Any thoughts? The KTM Duke 200 is basically the same price as one more gear, fuel injection, and a lot more tech. I'm wondering if the Honda would still be more reliable, even though it's a little slower and smaller? As an instructor, you've got a perfect excuse to go and test drive and buy one today! I really enjoyed this review. Thank you. Happy trails. IEdward in Irvine California

I’ve got one on order so I will be doing a review when I get it. From what I’ve read, the Xr150 will be more trail, slower roads where KTM Duke 200 is good enough for highway too. You can’t beat Honda reliability but KTM makes a great product too. If you can ride both go for the one that gets you excited more. If you get the XR let me know!

If you do it right the Duke 200 very much will walk itself with the clutch out. It will stall every time you do it from a stop but if you walk a little while letting the clutch out at the same time she'll walk on her own. Especially down hill once you get it going it will keep going. And the bike has ample power to walk itself clutch out because I have done it and I'm 6'1 and weight around 230ish.

I could be wrong about this Stats, as I only looked up two sources. You said the Duke 200 weights 275lbs, correct.? I see it listed at 140kgs which is 308lbs, right.? The 2020 Duke 390 is listed at 149kgs, which is 328lbs. Do you think this is a significant difference.? I say it's not.! Next, I looked-up the seat height to be 823mm, which equals 32.4" (did you said it was 31", I need to re-watch this video) Did you know the 2020 Duke 390 is 830mm, or 32.6" again I don't feel 7mm difference is that significant. The Duke 200, has 19 kW or 25 HP, while the 390 has 32 kW aka 43.4 HP. The Duke 200 has the old 390 gauges (not the new fancy colour TFT display) The old 390 headlight, (with no heat-sink) so for me, the Duke 200 is NOT WORTH it. Give it 3-years, when we will start to see some used, perhaps then it can be an option as the Used Price should be far less then the Used Price of a 390 Duke (which is only 373cc, I know) I wanted the Duke 200 to be similar to the Grom in weight (225lbs) and seat height of 29.9".

    • @leeridefar
      @leeridefar  2 роки тому +1

Weight difference is no significant. However every pound counts the lower the weight.
Seat height is 31.9in. The point nine did not come through in the audio enough. Is a stand sporty bike height. Only the Z400 is lower at 30.9in which isn’t much but again every bit counts.
The TFT display is nice but if you’re a newer rider. Stop looking down :)
Given the popularity of the Duke 390 and the Duke 200 being unknown. There are deals there. Better value for the Duke 200 Currently.
Both the Duke 200 and the Duke 390 are not bikes riders will ride for a long period of time. They’ll ride it and move on.
Good points to bring up Angel!

Anyway you could do a Duke 200 vs 390 video Lee.? I have owned a; Grom, CBR 125, VanVan 200, Konker KSM 200, DR 200 as well as every 300cc Class Sport Bike and also KTM RC 390. Based on this, I think I have a pretty good idea what a 200cc Sport Bike should be. The Duke 200 is a FAIL bcz the seat height is a bit too high and the weight is bit too much and the Price is much too expensive (but should be reasonable in about 3-years as a used Bike)

You must keep the revs much higher than every other bike to avoid the stall. KTM runs a very lean fuel map. As a beginner bike this will be frustrating for the rider. They will get used to it.

Lee, I feel it's currently NOT WORTH IT, and a let down model, here in Canada. One of the biggest factors for me is the Price vs Value and this scores very low for me. I'll never buy a brand new bike, as they deprecate so quickly the day they leave the dealership, so I don't know the MSRP's of any motorcycles. Did you say they are $4000 brand new with 0 kms out the door.? Did you say you paid $3000 for yours? How many kms did your have when you bought it.? I dont see ANY USED at all, here in Alberta. Let's compare it to the Duke 390; I can buy a 2015 Duke 390 for less, however the Duke 200 was only available in Canada in 2020 I believe, so to be fair, lets compare it to a 2020 Duke 390...
