Fantastic video! The biggest difference I’ve noticed between our style of boxing in the U.S. vs other nations always seems to be footwork. I have a few questions: 1.) After watching your (very interesting) video clip, it seems to me that Joe Frazier and George Foreman didn't use the American style, did they? 2.) What do you think is the reason that there is no American heavyweight champ at the moment? 3.) Roy Jones Jr. appears in your video and he was of course flashy, but he uses a style that can't be replicated. In fact, many coaches would even advise against trying to copy Jones Jr. style. He was just so fast and so athletic that the normal rules of boxing didn't apply to him for a long time. Or what do you think about that?
2. Talent pool depletion. Big young athletes have more exposure to football and MMA. Plus there are more highschool football teams and MMA gyms than pure boxing gyms.
Its interesting that even the style of boxing is a political complextion of a countries identity. The flash and brash style is exactly what characterizes America as a whole and soviet system is heavily focused on the science. I think it lends to their physical traits as well. Russians are naturally taller and make great outboxers Mexicans are shorter and wouldn't be as effective at range Americans fall in the middle and their style reflects it!
@skillrboxing I would argue the hallmark of American boxing is power. in the way it’s used kinda makes it fall under flashiness- lots of headhunting, and emphasis on the the biggest lands. This doesn’t really fit the Philly style though so I’d get why you wouldn’t include it fully. The names are insane. Not all around talent but pure power: Tyson, wilder, foreman, hearns, j Jackson, McClellan, Marciano, tank, shavers, Louis, Dempsey…it’s goes on and on…. having a friendly rivalry w Mexico ( toughest and very powerful punchers) might create some some growth in power and chin for both nations boxers
The real question is what happened to American boxers? We used to rule International competition and now it's hard to find a serious boxing gym in any City
Well, this conversation should be a little bit more specific, because the majority of the examples that you can use are black American boxers. Muhammad Ali, Pernell Whitaker, boots, James Toney, Andre Ward, Bernard Hopkins, Floyd Mayweather, Tevin Farmer, are all slick black boxers. Now it’s certain boxers that are more slick than others. You also have black boxers that aren’t necessarily slick. That’s what I think of when you speak of the American boxer. Shane Mosley isnt really slick. Neither was Devon Alexander, or Errol Spence. Those two more so are stiff. It has a lot to do with our rhythm. The stylishness of it boils down to our physical charisma.
This is cultural appropriation to call it the western-style when we all know it's only foundational black Americans who fight like that whites don't fight like black Americans so it's the Black American style of boxing not the western style
I don't buy the flashiness statement. Smokin' Joe Frazier, George Foreman, Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield were not flashy. Neither were Rocky Marciano or Joe Lewis.
Nice to see you break down the American boxing style. But I’ll be sticking to the Soviet boxing style, not just for the long-range but for the disciplinary aspect. 🇺🇸🇷🇺☭

Boxing didn't originate in England. It started in Ethiopia and Egypt then it became a olympic sport in greece. It died out after the fall of rome then resurfaced in England as prize fighting. England created the iteration we use today but the sport of boxing was created way before that...
@skillrboxing i agree, but saying it originated in England and not bringing light to where the style of fighting actually came from can be misleading. Aside from that great video.

While else mexicans embrace the hard preassure style as expressed in their culture
It's not the American style. Black white Americans don't fight like that is the Black American style
I think it lends to their physical traits as well.
Russians are naturally taller and make great outboxers
Mexicans are shorter and wouldn't be as effective at range
Americans fall in the middle and their style reflects it!
Good point @@JustinHampton-l5j
plss make a video about FILIPINO BOXING STYLE breakdown
lmfaoooo
Philippine style boxing next please
In my opinion American boxing simply boils down to, keep calm and adapt.
I’d love to see a Roy jones brake down
Could you do a video on Oscar de la hoya
Could you do Puerto Rican style, pls?
FINALLY!!!!!💚⚡️
The real question is what happened to American boxers? We used to rule International competition and now it's hard to find a serious boxing gym in any City

I hope we get Japanese style next!
Can you do a Rocky Marciano suzie q breakdown please 🙏
Do puerto rico next 🇵🇷
I classify the American style of boxing by if they have a US passport or a green card.
Roy jones jr breakdown please 😢
Beating up on underdogs only is the new American style
BLACK American boxing
YEAH! 😎👍.
WOOOOW!!!! So fuck!ng amazing!❤❤❤❤
This is cultural appropriation to call it the western-style when we all know it's only foundational black Americans who fight like that whites don't fight like black Americans so it's the Black American style of boxing not the western style
Make 'em miss make 'em pay.
I don't buy the flashiness statement. Smokin' Joe Frazier, George Foreman, Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield were not flashy. Neither were Rocky Marciano or Joe Lewis.
I think the flashy aspect is because that is how you make money. No showmanship = no show lol
Nice to see you break down the American boxing style. But I’ll be sticking to the Soviet boxing style, not just for the long-range but for the disciplinary aspect. 🇺🇸🇷🇺☭
You going to have tough nights against american black fighters
For me, bivol is great!
Bivol x bbv really showed what the Russian style can do during the first few rounds!
It's a strong basis, but you may benefit from incorporating other techniques as well!
tevin farmer breakdown?
But I will categorize the style as ultimate safety ultimate punishment. And ring Control .
Do the Asian style of boxing next
In USA we wouldn't call but showmanship we just say have fun but yeah this vid is accurate

Awe man we’re talking about American fighters & you ain’t have Terrence Crawford in any highlights???
He is my favourite as well ❤
Boxing didn't originate in England. It started in Ethiopia and Egypt then it became a olympic sport in greece. It died out after the fall of rome then resurfaced in England as prize fighting. England created the iteration we use today but the sport of boxing was created way before that...
The sport of boxing as we know it today, with its rules. Of course there was bare knuckle/fist fighting way back.
@skillrboxing i agree, but saying it originated in England and not bringing light to where the style of fighting actually came from can be misleading. Aside from that great video.
