unfortunaely hoka abandoned their unique approach.
They have decided to try and please everybody who didt like their original designs and revolutionary approach of shoe line. On top of it, now they have shoes made of sugar cane and what ever bs that sounds "sustainale" instead of good and durable materials.
If you are a heel striker I understand but if you are looking at more natural walking or barefoot striding I recommend Lems brand. I love my primal pursuits, trailheads and of course the boulder boot is soo light weight and comfortable, unlike anything I've worn before. Anyway, thanks for the video Jon.
Alta quality has declined heavily over the years. I’m rocking Olympus 5, and shoe grip is already peeling in less than 100 miles. Absolutely not worth $170
Inov8 Trailfly Ultra G 300 Max is the best hiker I've used and they are good runners as well. Built like tanks. I don't like the new Speedgoats but love the TectonX from Hoka.
I have a similar problem. I picked up a pair of trail runners after you made your video on how trail runners were the best hiking shoe and ended up getting a Columbia brand shoe on clearance. For me, they're the perfect hiking shoe. I was out hiking 2 weeks ago and fell waist deep in the water in the first 45 minutes of the hike and they were dry by the time I was at my halfway point. Now they don't make them or the next version anymore so I don't know what shoes to get to replace them now that they're starting to fall apart.

Change for changes sakes is always a problem in any industry
I love the feel and support of hoka but the soles seem to last less and less. My last pair of the latest gaviota lasted less than 6 months before the soles separated. And I had very few miles on them since the winter was terrible. I went back to Brooks, not as great but seems more durable

I wish you never pointed out the heel flap thing. I can't unsee it and it's true. It's even on my Hokas and they are just for running

Sums up why I loathed working for someone else and got out of that rat race. Though I’d add the things that actually do need to change more than likely won’t get changed and if they do it usually isn’t for the better.

The shoes look like something Kanye West and his ilk would wear.
I’ve heard nothing but shit about these shoes and I will never own a pair. They will do the trick for trail running (on cruisie hardpack) and then explode after 100 miles. For hiking, forget it.
They also just look like your Mom is following the trail behind you with your Xbox and a lunchables.
