More compulsive pleasant viewing. The sound of water from the bows and wind in the sailes. Blue sky and a fine wee boat. This is the best outdoor activity of all. .
Such a nice feel Roger, we have been following you for a few years now and sadly I am now alone following you. My wife died on October 3rd 2022. I know I am a complete stranger to you but it has been so nice to watch your video, my wife and I enjoyed them tremendously here in Northern California.🙏🏻💔
I have passed Le Faou many times by car and bicycle and went also to Landevennec by the old bridge across the river Aulne! Your video brings back nice good memories from the 70`s! Hope to follow the river one day in my own dinghy, Thank You so much for sharing this!
Loved the opening shot, great way to start your video. With everything going on in the UK and the world at the moment no better time to be out on a boat with just the wind and tides to worry about. Thanks for a great video.
Roger, another lovely video. Why your travels make me feel So calm. I did a solo bicycle ride from South Africa, most southern point to England. Twenty-five thousand kilometres I covered in all. Seeing your compact, efficient organisation brings back good memories. My trip was undertaken three years ago in my late sixties. I am now semi-invalid and your videos bring back good memories and calm. NEVER stop my friend, never. Stay safe.
I love your videos and have been tagging along with you for a couple years now. I think it’s because open boats are built right into my DNA. Here on the British Columbia coast I was raised on a float camp where there was no other kids to play with so I took to the rowboats for enjoyment. My grandparents an my parents grew up here too so they weren’t freaked out at me going off in the rowboat at 5 and 6 years old as long as I had my life jacket on. At 5 off I went to visit my cousins at their float camp. I made it all the way but sure got heck. I wasn’t allowed in the rowboat for a week. I remember a time crying my eyes out trying to rig a sail but couldn’t. Mix Wick the cook came out of the cookhouse to see what my problem was. She got some string and tied the bed sheet to my mast and away I went - it was wonderful. As a kid I got to use many a open boat each one having a very different feel in the water. Watching your videos I can actually feel your boat within me. Thanks for your real great adventures I love every minute.
I fitted a small electric motor to my boat and it is lovely to move against the wind in total quiet, and made loading the boat on the trailer by myself so easy .
Hmmm. You know you have just crossed the line to the "moped kids"? They grow up to be deaf (what?!), noisy engine type of people. You know the kind. Always revving. Always smelling like burnt oil. Always spoiling the quiet of nature. But you will do it electric and happy.
I’m always pleased to see you’ve uploaded a Vlog 🙏🏻I know I’m going to see a peaceful and beautiful truth, for those few of us that don’t want to be attending endless gatherings 🌊
Ahhh! It’s a good week, no it’s a GRAND week when my copy of “The Dinghy Cruising Companion” arrives in the mail AND Roger Barnes posts a new video on UA-cam!
Merci Roger 🙏👍😎
On graveyards... when the USN reactivated reserve ships for the Korean war, they discovered it can cost 75% of the price of a new one to return an old one to service. Add in the costs of properly preserving them in the meantime, which includes creating an airtight seal so you can air condition the interior, and maintaining all the machinery, and you quickly see that it's a luxury only a few (like the USN) can afford. The Marine Nationale is not doing any of this. Those ships probably start their retirement as spare parts donors for their active sisters, then become training vessels, then practice grounds for special forces exercising their ship-boarding skills, then political and budgetary chess pieces: keep a ship "on the books" and you can argue for a direct replacement. Scrap it and the treasury will say "Well, you scrapped it before we let you buy a replacement, so you obviously don't need a new one!"
Hey Roger. I’m just having a nostalgic moment, remembering when you first started posting and we chatted regularly. Loved those times. Now your sooo popular (a very good thing) and growing. This UA-cam thing makes me wonder. I’m guilty too. Anyways just a shoutout to my old virtual friend. Cheers.
Excellent video … ta very much. Your sailing adventures inspire me to use my ground tackle more often … nothing like a peaceful anchorage to watch the world go by! ⛵️👍😀
Thanks Roger again for another great adventure. Nice to see you doing the little things that are often not seen. Could you let us see you step your mast sometime? I would love to see that process.
A great mix of weekend adventures!..but it strikes me Roger, you edit your videos carefully, but for the hint about 'drinking'...!! Thanks so much for sharing, as you do so well ! It was 5 degrees here on the Strait of Georgia side of Vancouver Island (Duncan BC) and the sunshine continues; no rain for three months. Rodney
It looks like this video was slightly higher definition, or a tad brighter. Oh, and the drone shots seem new toe too. I've all of your vids, and many multiple times, but often out of order. Thank for another wonderful video!
What strikes me is how eminently suitable your dinghy is for the waterways you visit. She skulls and rows well, and the sail plan is so easily handled. Now if you were a fit 19 year old "mec", there would be a bevy of bikinis like the other sailing channels! A+ Stevy
For someone who is going to Drs for a BP review I recommend you watch one of these videos beforehand or even in the waiting room. Thanks Roger the NHS should prescribe you. 😃
Maybe with a bit more practice my short trips can become as apparently peaceful and serene as yours ! Thank you for taking the time and effort to make these vids.
Capt.Roger- are you implying the bridge is unnecessary or the traffic is ?Testimony to how rich & delightful is your narration & nature audio, I will admit there are times while my choice is, just enjoying your soundscape, your narration, lapping water over the hull. The modern artsy bridge, the horrible loud music, heavy emphasis on food, is the reason the world is so embedded in a quagmire of disenchantment. Overweight, loud & clumsy we stagger on to the next festival. You, the smart one, tie onto a peaceful shaded shore?, out of the spotlight & in the envy if all watching from the galleries🎈
I am a big fan of all of your adventures. I’ve watched dozens and dozens of episodes. I too enjoy my oatmeal raw with cold milk, I do add raisins. Bon voyage ;-)
I've been wrestling with an urge to visit France (by any means) I was thinking of next Spring but after watching another of your lovely videos it may be in the next fortnight!
Thanks again Roger for another lovely video. We always look forward to getting a new one. You always do a magnificent job in camera and editing. Hope you are OK. You seemed a bit low on this trip. Too much partying at the festivals perhaps? Wishing you all the best and much joy and happiness from Australia
Another great video. I've been bingeing on your videos for a while now. I'm just about to start building a Welsford Pathfinder, and your videos have been an inspiration.
Bateaux, buvettes, binious, et... baladins! Once again a lovely video! Perhaps one day you will sail upstream of your launching point on the Aulne, it is supposed to be nice as well. 😎
I've been all the way up beyond Chateaulin, and would like to sail on more of the Aulne. But you need to pre-book lock passages, which makes it rather a faff.
Carnot understand how you’ve not got more followers. Use to sail the river Whitham Boston UK in a Inflatable canoe with dagger boards as a 10 year old fun times brings back memories when your sitting low in the boat 🤙
More compulsive pleasant viewing. The sound of water from the bows and wind in the sailes. Blue sky and a fine wee boat.

You are a complete stranger mate, but I do feel your pain.
@@colrodrick8784 thank you
Thank you Franck. Sorry about the loss of your wife.
How old are you Frank?
Roger is living his life.
Why can't you?
I have passed Le Faou many times by car and bicycle and went also to Landevennec by the old bridge across the river Aulne! Your video brings back nice good memories from the 70`s! Hope to follow the river one day in my own dinghy, Thank You so much for sharing this!
I love the peace and tranquility of your sailings.
Great editing and story telling Roger, really set the scene.
Loved the opening shot, great way to start your video. With everything going on in the UK and the world at the moment no better time to be out on a boat with just the wind and tides to worry about. Thanks for a great video.

Simple life, c'est une belle façon de faire de la voile dans cette belle région. Et sans moteur, bravo 👍
Salutations de Saint-Tropez ⚓
Merci !

Once again, excellent. Thank you for sharing these adventures with those of us who for one reason or another are unable to do it ourselves. 👌
I’m always pleased to see you’ve uploaded a Vlog 🙏🏻I know I’m going to see a peaceful and beautiful truth, for those few of us that don’t want to be attending endless gatherings 🌊
Great little outing and video production Roger. Thanks for sharing with us generously.
I always enjoy your adventures in your small boat. Peaceful with just a tiny frisson of on-the-water camping excitement.
"....a peaceful day... without any drinking" LOL! Amazing how a break between festival days make the next festival attended more fun. Great video.
Thanks for that wonderful piece of film Roger ⛵️
Lovely to see you posting again this morning mate. Tight lines. 👍
Ahhh! It’s a good week, no it’s a GRAND week when my copy of “The Dinghy Cruising Companion” arrives in the mail AND Roger Barnes posts a new video on UA-cam!
As usual its like a bottle of relaxing tonic i was in brest for 4 weeks in August its great spot for boating keep it up thanks again
Oh.. fancy drone shot. Lovely as always.
Camera at the top of the mast. I'm sure I'd lose a drone in the sea...
Thanks Roger, loved the video, the balance of sailing/rowing, festivities then the peacefulness. Bravo, I was with you throughout.
Thank you for creating these
That looked like a fun little trip. Great scenery, and interesting to watch you work your way in to your mooring spot under sail and sculling.

oui, une belle plaine d'eau

How very cool. That little boat allows a very gentle approach to some very quaint and beautiful places. Much enjoyed.
Glad you enjoyed it
Beautiful, thank you...

Hi Jean
Yes, the whole UA-cam phenomenon is weird.
Roger
Roger, you're an inspiration to myself and no doubt many more! I hope to one day live full-time on a boat like yours.
Thank you for another fantastic inspiring little film Roger.....all the best.
Thank you, Roger, for another inspiring sailing adventure.
Lovely. Thank you for taking us along.
My pleasure!
Great seeing you again and you're beautiful boat. Blessings to you and yours coming at you from the mountains of Southern Oregon
Excellent video … ta very much. Your sailing adventures inspire me to use my ground tackle more often … nothing like a peaceful anchorage to watch the world go by! ⛵️👍😀
Looks like a fun time, that yellow unitard dude at 13:48 was a bit strange…
Your trips are fabulous, Roger! Many thanks for yet another great vid
Too many festivals - ghastly, and a day without drinking even worse... Some lovely pictures in there, by the way!
Beautiful Sailing, thank you for sharing.
Lovely tune at the closing. Always enjoy your videos. Peaceful easy feelings. Much appreciated. Thanks for being here.
What a life when you need a day of rest from drinking! Was there last week, surprised how warm it was, now back in dark cold Sweden.
Truly a joy.
A delightful memory of summer to enliven a dull damp autumn day in North Cumbria.
Thanks Roger again for another great adventure. Nice to see you doing the little things that are often not seen. Could you let us see you step your mast sometime? I would love to see that process.
superb video Roger. life in France looks like its suiting you well.
How delightfully encouraging, to hear that it is still warm and pleasant in dear old France. You have made me feel so much more optimistic.
I so much look forward to your videos.... cheers from Seattle USA.
Lovely pics, Roger.
Thank you, thank , thank you for sharing....!
Thanks for a great day out Roger 👍

Wonderful footage and so many ILURS! - Thanks as always Roger!

Wonderful,a favourite spot of ours.
Well edited Roger thanks I sat back with a burger and cold drink and enjoyed every minute

Another great one Roger. Thank you!!
Hi Roger, Lovely video, how I pine for the Summer already!!! What was the French boat with white sails dragging at about 07:55 ?
continually inspirational, thank you
New Vid Day..fantastic..Will watch with coffee later. Cheers Roger 👍👍
Thanks Roger for your inspiration. You make it look easy. Good on ya mate.
Marvellous as always.Thanks.
Wonderful
Another great voyage Roger,
Footprints in the sand 👌

Bloomin lovely.
Greetings from the Chesapeake Bay Roger,
Another wonderful post of what sailing is all about in a true classic with a minimalist approach.
More please
Preserve the Chesapeake!
Great stuff. Thanks
Delightful. I am here in the office on lunch and this is perfect!
Seems to have been a plethora of Ilur! With love, Ken
Lovely video, Roger. (Monsieur “Le Rosbif”)
Dude, you're totally awesome. That says it all.
Love it, Thank you
😆 at 11:55 I shouted at the screen "Argh! Don't dunk the camera!"
It didn't look wet when it came back aboard, though.
Waterproof GoPro...
Another great calming video. Really does inspire me to make more use of my Drascombe Lugger - maybe even sleep over on her.

The bridge links the Crozon peninsula to Brest. The presqu’île is so sleepy it’s surprising it generates much traffic.
I am a big fan of all of your adventures. I’ve watched dozens and dozens of episodes.
I too enjoy my oatmeal raw with cold milk, I do add raisins.
Bon voyage ;-)

Hello. I think I was just tired. I certainly was not tempted by another noisy festival!
Another great video. I've been bingeing on your videos for a while now. I'm just about to start building a Welsford Pathfinder, and your videos have been an inspiration.
BTW it was your interview with John Welsford that convinced me to build one of his boats.
Bateaux, buvettes, binious, et... baladins!
Once again a lovely video!

What kind of boat is it? Love your sailtrips😊
☀️I was waiting for a your video👍
Yellow man at 14:00 having a great old time!
A "very showy and unnecessary" bridge. As a fellow architect I agree. Almost a húbris bridge.
I remember the old bridge it replaced. Which was much more restrained.
Many Ilurs!
Great aesthetics overall until we get to the yellow unitard guy at 13:50.
Thank you for another fine video Roger. Do you live in the Brest area now?
EXELENTE, DESDE SALTA, ARGENTINA
And that….ladies and gentlemen is how a proper sailor does it.
Magnifique vidéo. J’adore…
A lot of rowing and tacking but I am sure that the partying was well worth the effort.
Carnot understand how you’ve not got more followers. Use to sail the river Whitham Boston UK in a Inflatable canoe with dagger boards as a 10 year old fun times brings back memories when your sitting low in the boat 🤙
Yes, encourage all your friends to follow me!
Carnot had a lot of great insights about the thermodynamics of heat engines, but I don't think he really understood the algorithms of UA-cam.
