@@ThatAnnoyingBird The pachinko stage is dumb as heck, but Phil doesn't help his cause when he's clearly too busy blaming the game or Nintendo to actually try and figure out what he's doing wrong.
For the future, you might want to include a counter for number of times he accuses Mario of sentience, "He's choosing to do this!". This isn't Sims Phil, the character you use in video games typically only does what you tell it to do.
My favorite: "that was bullshit and the game knows it!" he speaks as if the characters and the game itself are out to personally attack him and ruin his experience.
@@Doomshroom8 Nah. Phil has actually shown over and over before that he isn't that smart. Of course, he thinks he is smart, but that is just because he likely is a narcissist.
@@demonicloaf2100 The only reason I say that is because Phil has at least admitted to being terrible at games in the past, and the fact that this does make him decent money. It's a living to be sure, I don't know if it's one to be super proud of, but it's a living.
How does someone who plays games for a living die so many times on the FIRST secret stage, think mistakes are "glitches", and almost DIE to a goop piranha? Not even I fucked up that hard when I first played. Oh wait, it's DSPig. Not surprised stream chat held his hand either. Shameful
I legit managed to 100% this game back when I was 12, which took me months, sure, but I still did it anyway. This sad excuse of a "gamer" dies THIRTEEN times on the first secret level and blames it all on non existent "glitches" and the camera, which can easily be changed with the C-Stick, by the way. Nothing is EVER his fault at all, while it is the opposite, in fact.
He also has no idea what blocking animations look like, complains about "lag", and calls people spammers when he does the same boring crap over and over
For the noki bay one, all he couldve done was just swim underwater everytime he landed in the polluted bay. The game uses bitmaps to keep track of goop with a corresponding model to hold the bitmap. so its always on TOP of the map, or in the case, the water. So all he needed to do was swim underwater to the nearest shore of land, only taking 2 damage from when he landed, to when he got out. Hell, even i knew that trick as a kid. But leave it to phil to do things the hard way, never learning a damn thing.
And his Pal B U G M A N the entire game uses bitmaps to use goop placement. It was a pretty genius way to save memory and time instead of doing everything by hand. Mario sunshine is a game that has a pretty rare extended and very different development cycle. Originally, to get around the island, instead of warps, a train system was used and SOL coins was the currency to get around. They where around the early isle delphino that was shown around E3 and the town model for that took YEARS to find. Not only that, but the towns you can see from other stages in the distance? They actually use early models of their respected levels. For example, if you look at ricco harbor from bianco hills, youll notice the heliport is replaced with girders that match of of the early screenshot of ricco harbor. Plus, in development, the pinna park was connected by land it can still be seen in the final game. The DOLFIC posters that as the boo drawing in serinna hotel uses an early map of tbe game and you can see that the 'tail' is connected to the island, thus proving the train system. Also, the part where isle delfino is flooded, the town actually uses an early build of the level, its not the same town you get warped to. Its actually unknown WHY they had the town flooded in the first place. In context, it dosent make any sense. Why have an entire town flooded, use an early build, then NEVER use it again? Why not just have an event where you just chase shadow mario into corona mountain? Why have a flood in the first place? Wierd choice. Kinda feels like that part was rushed right? Well, speaking of Corona Mountain, was once planned as having episodic levels like the other stages and was ment to have a bigger layout with some of the other special stages, 13 of which goes unused but i guess it was cut cause of time constraints. But that wasnt the only thing that was cut. Multiplayer mode was found, but in bits and pieces. It didnt get too far in development. My best guess is that it eas a competitive mode where one player was mario and the other, shadow. It was proven you could pick up one another and throw each other around, so its speculated one would make the mess, and the other would chase after him and cleaning up the mess they made. I can go on and on, but you get my point. There are TONS of ideas that was never used and got removed or replaced. Its pretty damn interesting. If given the original time they where planning instead of rushing the game ahead of schedule and finishing their original plans, maybe sunshine couldve been way diffrent.
It took months and months to setup! *fans had to threaten me with unsubbing in order to even play the game at all, made excuses constantly as to why i couldent get the game*
THEKINGOFDIVASVLOGS the game usually is expensive tbh. At least every time I look. Maybe if he got it from someone or he went to an old school game shop. But that shit can be expensive 😂

All the people who grew up and beat this game without too much trouble must have just imagined it. Phil has singlehandedly proven the game is a buggy piece of shit that drops input constantly and doesn't explain anything. It's amazing that Phil was the first person to make this discovery.

You know. This is the ONE game. Where it became obvious to me that Phil isn't an average gamer. He's utter shit. He's barely on the level of ten year old me, and I wouldn't even say I'm as good as the average gamer. Thank you for the THIYDP but good god this was a nearly three hour long heart attack inducer watching him fuck up so damn much.
My opinion: Super Mario Sunshine is very far from a masterpiece game. It's also certainly not Mario's best 3D game, by a few games. But what's also true in my opinion: Super Mario Sunshine is a very good game anyways, despite the fact that there are frustrating parts of it at times. I think Phil is way too critical of it.
I gotta tell you Outsyder, you're doing God's work. Im sure you fully understand the utter joy one gets from watching a grown man get upset at a game your children have already beat in 30 hours with significantly less deaths. The mario playthroughs have been such a joy to watch, so much nostalgia and the fact that this man has such a hard time with things that real gamers can spot from a mile away makes this such a joy to watch. Your editing is top notch and the counters have me dying. Never stop doing what you do, you madlad!
I watch DSP because it makes me feel way better about me being bad at games. At least I don't stream it and refer to myself as a professional gamer. I wouldn't be able to compete with this anyway. Phil is savant-level when it comes to sucking at games.

You know this guy must’ve read some magazine when he was younger that bemoaned beginners traps and delay. Now he uses them to seem like he has an editorial merit or that he can accurately critique.
Maybe not a magazine, but there are plenty of people/articles he could be parroting the phrase from, and I'd be willing to bet a couple buckarinos that's all he's doing.
I loved this game when I was younger. I will fully admit, I struggled with it since I wasn't used to 3D platformers as a kid. But I doubt I struggled as much as he did. I wish he'd stop complaining about everything because it's hard or didn't go his way. Edit: And the idea of him playing Pikmin 1 or 2 horrifies me. I can beat Pikmin 2 with no deaths, but that takes TONS of resets. Those games are MUCH harder than 3.
Big ups 0utsyder! I always return to this one because of all the counters going on. Not to mention how entertaining it is to have all of his excuses for each death. Truly an excellent piece of kahntent.
Holy shit the Pachinko part was painful to watch. Sure it can be a bit wonky but its nowhere near as bad as he made it look, never had trouble with it outside of the first playthrough. EDIT: OK the fail at the end made the entire section worth it.
Personally, I think the fact there's a death and coin reset at the bottom is a bit much. Feel if I was designing it, I'd have, either a, strike system or you take damage but are shot back out to the launcher. But I suppose when you consider the other levels are all, make a lot of accurate jumps or start it all over again, it's probably about on par? Might have been a nice idea to for that section, zoom the camera out to give a, little mario ball perspective
I almost just quit this TIHYDP because the counters got out of control and i did too much editing late at night. Going to try not to do that next time around.
Hey no I get that completely. When I saw how many counters you had for this I was like JESUS CHRIST MAN! Seriously though you deserve a medal of honor and valor for enduring this...CHRIST!
"i was already past it on the 3d plane," "the momentum of the spin jump i can't control." his excuses used to be so elaborate. i remember his psvr unboxing and setup and he said "the upper right quadrant is still blurry"
...am I the only one who's never had any problem with the pachinko stage? You're not supposed to be using FLUDD during the launch, just delicately nudge the stick to influence which direction you go toward.
I'm pretty sure Vinny or Joel from Vinesauce (don't remember which one) also had an easy time with it. Thanks for the tip, though. Always struggled with that one.
I like how around 23:30 Phil admits that he used to shit on the GameCube all the time and that he had never played it until now. So basically, he was shitting on something he never tried or gave a chance. Classic DSP. It kinda reminds me of how he used to shit on twitch until he realized how much money he could make and how he used to shit on Minecraft until he realized how much money he could make. Lol
I don’t think I’ve ever been this angry at Phil before. He is so inept and incompetent that I found myself yelling at him. “How do people defend this game?” Well let’s see, there’s the tropical theme which is original for 3D Mario, great soundtrack, satisfying movement, memorable worlds, and a lot of cool ideas for levels. But I guess that all doesn’t matter because the physics are wonky.
@@Lobsterwithinternet Literally EVERYTHING about Phail is wonky, and always has been. He's just so delusional about everything. He's also got the worst laugh of all time. Sounds like a dying hyena pretending to be a seal.
Is there ANY game he has actually sat down and learned to play? He just whines and complains and never actually LEARNS the controls, or the tricks with FLUDD, or how to rotate the C-stick. Jesus, children don't complain this much.
A fenced off pit that you can see down that there is nothing there is a beginners trap? OK then I have never known anyone to actually jump over there thinking they were gonna live
actually, in his defense, when I first played that part many years ago, I too thought you could jump in there to find items and stuff like that, given that it's a *lake.* disregarding water being pollutable-as in this area's level named "the secret of the dirty lake"-what kind of a level design is a lake that you _can't jump in?_ doesn't matter that there's a fence to supposedly keep you from entering it, the developers are to blame for a level design like that: a *lake* that you _cannot jump/swim in_
To everyone who has willingly subjected themselves through the entirety of both parts: To restore your own health and sanity, I HIGHLY recommend watching Chuggaaconroy's LP of Sunshine in full. For the fullest effect, i prescribe a full binge of each episode as soon as you know you have free time for the rest of the day. (Please note I am not a real doctor, nor is this meant to be a fanboy advertisement/shill for Chugga. I wanted to say this as a PSA to help everyone relieve themselves.)
Honestly You should have included a Brief Pre TIHYDP segment about Phil Dicking his fans around about not wanting to play it immediately for the Viewer/ Patron's Choice because it would lose him money for months in a Row since he was covering a Nintendo Game at the time and hyped up 'MUH CLAIMED AD REVENUE I WONT GET!' I think that's a VERY Important thing that surrounds this playthrough.
2:23:00 hes technically not wrong there was a baby bowser in yoshis island but its not the same one in addition bowsers kids have been shown before. in super mario 3 i think?...
1:17:54 is hilarious. He had to press jump didn't he, he couldn't just let Mario fall right on top of the star LOL. Of course he has to lie and say he did nothing wrong and blame the game physics when HE pressed the jump button. HAHA EVen he knows it's bs because he has a smirk on his face which is a first for him right after dying.

That guy just does not know what he did to Phils ego when he finally beat that stage... He may as well have seriously have actually sucked him off.
themusicman945Ⓥ terrible troll then, since he made himself look worse then Phil by virtue of the joke not landing.
If he wonders why Nintendo won't let him monetize their games, this is probably why. He got angry real quick on that pachinko stage.
Well said.
To be fair, any sane person would get easily angered on the pachinko stage.
I guess that also applies to insane people as well.
@@ThatAnnoyingBird The pachinko stage is dumb as heck, but Phil doesn't help his cause when he's clearly too busy blaming the game or Nintendo to actually try and figure out what he's doing wrong.
In this level the physics, the controls and the camera actually were garbage.
In Phil's defense, that pachinko stage IS BS. Include Phil's usual elite gaming skillz to the mix and it's even more trash.
Forever outsmarted by a children's game.
“Mario, get out of that water, it’s toxic”
Today, I heard the phrase “beginner’s trap” for the first time
For the future, you might want to include a counter for number of times he accuses Mario of sentience, "He's choosing to do this!". This isn't Sims Phil, the character you use in video games typically only does what you tell it to do.
My favorite: "that was bullshit and the game knows it!" he speaks as if the characters and the game itself are out to personally attack him and ruin his experience.

Someone paid this fool 1000 bucks to play Binding of Isaac Yeah, I'm not even kidding
At least its entertaining
I legit managed to 100% this game back when I was 12, which took me months, sure, but I still did it anyway. This sad excuse of a "gamer" dies THIRTEEN times on the first secret level and blames it all on non existent "glitches" and the camera, which can easily be changed with the C-Stick, by the way. Nothing is EVER his fault at all, while it is the opposite, in fact.
He also has no idea what blocking animations look like, complains about "lag", and calls people spammers when he does the same boring crap over and over
I feel bad for mario
For the noki bay one, all he couldve done was just swim underwater everytime he landed in the polluted bay. The game uses bitmaps to keep track of goop with a corresponding model to hold the bitmap. so its always on TOP of the map, or in the case, the water. So all he needed to do was swim underwater to the nearest shore of land, only taking 2 damage from when he landed, to when he got out. Hell, even i knew that trick as a kid. But leave it to phil to do things the hard way, never learning a damn thing.
Reoko aren't there more things like that in this game?
And his Pal B U G M A N
the entire game uses bitmaps to use goop placement.

Wrong. You don't know what autistic means. Don't use words like autistic, cancer and aids please...it merely demonstrates your lack of maturity and ignorance. It's also very insulting and disrespectful to people who suffer from those ailments
All the people who grew up and beat this game without too much trouble must have just imagined it. Phil has singlehandedly proven the game is a buggy piece of shit that drops input constantly and doesn't explain anything. It's amazing that Phil was the first person to make this discovery.
Maybe if he used the C-sticks camera it would be DIFFERENT
Hearing Phil call the mecha bowser rollercoaster fight "a nightmare" made 9 year old me shake his head in shame.
If DSP implemented a controller cam, he wouldn't be able to lie about the "dropped inputs" and "I didn't press that"

Thank you for the THIYDP but good god this was a nearly three hour long heart attack inducer watching him fuck up so damn much.
Dude I played Sunshine when I was 5 and I was kicking serious ass. I don't understand how he wasn't able to adapt to the game's movement.

Phil is, and I don't throw this out often, the WORST player. Ever. This is the bottom of the barrel folks. A barrel full of catfish.
I watch DSP because it makes me feel way better about me being bad at games. At least I don't stream it and refer to myself as a professional gamer. I wouldn't be able to compete with this anyway. Phil is savant-level when it comes to sucking at games.

It's not really that bad at all, it's a little wonky but it's pretty easy to get through.
Might have been a nice idea to for that section, zoom the camera out to give a, little mario ball perspective

actually, in his defense, when I first played that part many years ago, I too thought you could jump in there to find items and stuff like that, given that it's a *lake.* disregarding water being pollutable-as in this area's level named "the secret of the dirty lake"-what kind of a level design is a lake that you _can't jump in?_ doesn't matter that there's a fence to supposedly keep you from entering it, the developers are to blame for a level design like that: a *lake* that you _cannot jump/swim in_

Honestly You should have included a Brief Pre TIHYDP segment about Phil Dicking his fans around about not wanting to play it immediately for the Viewer/ Patron's Choice because it would lose him money for months in a Row since he was covering a Nintendo Game at the time and hyped up 'MUH CLAIMED AD REVENUE I WONT GET!'
