Samurai Jack is literally an American Cartoon disguising itself as a Japanese Anime. But instead of following generic Anime trends, Jack's adventures are inspired by old school epics like Conan the Barbarian.
"Long ago in a distant land, Aku, the shape-shifting master of Darkness, unleashed an unspeakable evil, until the noble Samurai warrior, later named Jack, wielding the magic sword, forged by the Gods, Ra, Odin, and Vishnu eons ago, stepped forth to oppose him. But before the final blow was struck, Aku tore open a portal in time and decietfully flung him to the future, where his evil was Law. For years, he had traveled the strange lands alone, searching for a new home, helping those who needed him along the way. No matter how much Aku tried burdening him in Despair, Jack never loses hope, and he knew that he would find his way home, and seeks to return to the past, and undo the evil that is Aku, and release it from Aku's evil grip."
I freaking love Aku: his design makes him look like a Japanese dragon (or some demonic thing), which the black-lime-red color scheme with his bulging eyes does extremely well. He is a menacing foe, but there is a comedic side to him (his little sounds when he's surprised/mocking), especially with the facial expressions. THEY HARDENED IN RESPONSE TO PHYSICAL TRAUMA AKU
i don't know, but Aku is actually more messed up than anticipated.
Aku is truly a cruel villain and i love it. he doesnt leave anything to chance. He crushes demongo for failing him, he sends the "boy" to the pit of hate, he teases jack with the portal and just leaves. Straight cold.
I always enjoyed how Aku's minion is basically nothing but bones, but does have running shoes.
9:20
This was my fav, probably in the whole series!
I love the way he says “Fool” 😂😂😂
Despite being the epitome of evil, Aku still comes across as likeable.
Most demons do
I love how he's both threatening yet campy.
Aku the Shape Shifting Master of Darkness and the Archenemy of Samurai Jack
8:25 he just being a bro
also you forgot *E X T R A T H I C C*
8:17 [to Scaramouche]: You gambled and lost, “babe”…
Basically every single line from Aku in the entire series
Easily one of my favorite cartoon antagonists.
Perfect balance of cold and menacing villainy and cartoon humor.
Aku is the perfect combination of (Near) Pure Evil and a Comic Relief.
The person who voiced Aku should deserve an Oscar for their hard work.
Aku is one of those perfect unions of writing, acting, and design.
“E X T R A T H I C C”
2:07 To bad he didn’t know how to “jump good” at this point
Aku, the shape-shifting master of darkness, a villain that terrified us and also made us laugh with his antics and his... GREAT FLAMING EYEBROWS!!!
Aku: will make you laugh one moment, and then immediately remind you.why he is the "shogun of sorrow" with his bloodlust.
Both voices have some good moments. Just Mako has more. And is better. And scarier.
My favorite line from season 5 though will always be: "And insects get...SQUASHED!!!" I wonder if Mako would've delivered that line even better? Cracks me up every time!
@@GothLady1987 Mako can't be topped. His voice was so much more intimidating than Baldwin's
@@bradyryan5105 I bet you wouldn't even notice the change in voice if you didn't know about the change in voice actor
I feel Mako really made Aku. His voice is just so iconic and when he passed it just wasn’t the same.
Can we just appreciate how amazing aku is!? Probably the best villain for several reasons! A perfect nemesis! And of course all the things he has done…. The evil laugh, shapeshifting, and the constant deception!
Some would say he's satan himself
The fact that he just trolled him with the portal is hilarious
This show was ahead of it's time. Aku is pure comedy gold!
7:03 This deserves to become a meme!
7:32 Samurai Jack contracts Covid 19 from Aku?!
6:44 R.I.P. Mako Aku and Uncle Iroh Honor and Righteousness
only aku would start a live broadcast with the intro to the show lmaof
mako voiced aku in samurai jack, then iroh in avatar. he was on cartoon network, adult swim, and nickelodeon. literally anyone will accept this guy as a voice actor, even if he hails from a rival company.
Yeah, so do Grey DeLisle and Kevin Michael Richardson. Mako was hardly unique in that respect
@@BenHopkins1000 maybe he wasnt one of a kind but he was damn good though
Mako was an absolute legend. He *made* Aku.
Gotta be one of my favorite quotes of all time. “I will cure the world of this plague of hope” That line just sounds unbelievably amazing!
5:09-That's all?
With no enslaving, torture, terror or just forcing them to live miserably?
Just build some statues with Aku,then live freely on his world?
Doesn't sound so bad if you have resources
Better than what most villains would do, I guess
It’s called paying tribute. The Mongols did it to everyone they conquered. Even Alexander Nevsky paid up until the day he died
Those were the women’s he had at the time for what felt most appropriate a good villain likes to leave a psychological impact on those they would dominate
Mako was a Great Voice for Aku. I Liked the Way He Says "Samurai". May He R.I.P.
