I love this topic and how you explain it. But can you please do a total noob tutorial?? I'm completely hooked on how you do all those things but I don't understand most of it. Like from where to start, to do a simulation. That kind of stuff, specially the terms used. Thanks, love the vlog.
Hi Christian, I’m a 16 yo school lighting tech from Perth Australia. I love these videos they are super interesting and helpful! Our school had used an avolites tiger touch desk for years and we are now upgrading to a MA. We’re still in the process of deciding between a Dot 2 or a MA 2/3. I love seeing how you do things at a professional level and learn so much from what you do. Even things like how you lay out your desk can be really helpful. Thanks again and have a good Christmas!
Thanks for the depth into your playback setup, you always seem to do so much when I have trouble fitting a small rig onto 24 playbacks definitely looking forward to more in the future.
I really liked that you show'ed how you done your setup. The problem with mostly all tutorials is that they only shows how a function work. they often does not show how to use different functions together in a show situation. Please do more videos like this. Question: at 7.03 Do you mean bpm sync strobe? Please do a video how you did that beautiful color and gobo layout.
I fell in love with your channel from the first video I saw but as an aspiring LD this concert grade stuff is making my head spin! I am also working on a school installation right now and the controller that I want to put in simply escapes me
congradulations on getting a wing! you deserve it and you will love it, makes a big diference in speed. hope that will mean more programming tips and videos for us!
I'm new to GrandMA and have a lot of other computers on the network. I was interested in what you said about MA sending all the packages all the time. Maybe you could talk a little more about that? And its always interesting to hear how ppl have there console set up for fast programming or live show jamming. Really good video!
Instead of a Go+ button on your Intensity-faders you could use a goto-button to chose an effect directly without going thru all chases, which are stored in the Sequence.
Great tutorial man! I wuld like to see your in depth cue and chaser creation video and maybe showing us how to use them in reaction to a song? Best regards
I'm binge watching your channel rn so I'm full of questions😂😂 I'm 13 years old and starting to get some gigs Would you recommend for me to purchase an MA2 node or an MA2 command wing? Thanks!
Can you talk the thought that goes in to designing for a concert. I've done lighting design for theatrical shows, but never concerts. It's really interesting. Great video.
Hey man, love the lighting videos. Could you explain more about your layout view that you use for busking, or a resource available to make a custom one like that?
+Ryan Crane I try to keep that one a little bit of a secret. Basically it is macros that trigger different sequences and then copies images into the image pool. I might make a more in depth video soon :)
+Christian Jackson So just a crap ton of macros that you import into layout view? and each one triggers another cue from a list so it turns off the other cue? either way would love to see :)
Hey Christian, gread vid, great rig! Have you ever tried using BOMAC (Bernd-Ott's-Midi-to-Artnet-Converter) instead of Bomes Midi Translator on the Midicon's faders? DMX/Artnet Faders have the great advantage of not jumping to the actual fader value on the first touch when changing pages on the MA. You have to pick up the current executor value first. For me this is very useful when you work across multiple pages without the benefit of motorized faders...
I’ve been doing lighting for about 12 years now started in theatre and I’m now in more live events, I learned on ETC boards and more recently the Hog 3 and a little bit of 4 is it really just learning the language of the MA that’s different? From your videos it seems like effects are generated much easier and are more detailed on MA than Hog so I’m definitely interested in learning MA more than ever now. Thanks for your videos!
First off, good video. Dig the setup. I'm probably going to regret asking, but I've been trying to figure out the MIDICON memory recall buttons. ie, What is the process for saving something into those banks. It's driving me nuts.
Had you thought about just using Remote Desktop to access your onPC via your surface, when out and about. This means it's not a part of your MA session; just "remotely viewing" that of your laptop.... Won't slow down the MA session at all... We use this everyday in our setup.
+Danielwalters6 I have thought about using this, but I also want to use it as a second independent screen so it is better for me to have it in a session, even as another user in some instances.
Hi Christian, thx in advance 4 all great videos. One question: is there real difference between NSP1 and NSP2 in 4port mode (MA2)?? Some people said that main processing power in those units is only used in MA1 mode, and in MA2 mode they only act as artnet node plus parameter dongle, is right? Regards.
You need 2 touch screens and keep the one you have so you have 3 screens.. I would of built my own com instead of the laptop but cool man.. The wing Faders are cool little guys.. I like em..
Have you checked out the MidiCON Pro? It's really expensive (around $3k), but seems really nice compared to the original MidiCon. They added mechanical key switches, so now it's similar to an actual MA console (I really don't like the feel of the buttons on the original midiCon), and also the Pro has motorized faders.
Hi Christian, ivr been warching a lot of your videos. I wonder if i can connect 2 korg nano control? and not conflict each other especially everytime i start MAonPC? thanks a lot bro. 🥂
I just ordered mine! Can you explain what happened with all the international stuff please? How much was shipping and taxes and customs stuff for you? Was it a lot?
This is an awesome setup. Have you ever used or considered the MA dot series as a smaller console? I don't know much about it, but it looks like a cool smaller desk that comes with all of the goodness that goes with MA consoles. The MA onPC looks great, but I worry about running shows from a computer unless it's dedicated solely to lighting. The idea of having a windows crash during a show makes me anxious just thinking about it. Love your videos by the way, I look forward to every new post.
Does it run the full MA software, or is it scaled back? I've seen retail prices at $9,995, so that doesn't seem back for a stand along console with touch screen built in (even if the screen is small).
Hello bro, How to operate MA2 cansole her connection patching programing and startup. So please make a playlist of full details video then we are learning easily in Hindi Start of her basis knowledge.
Hey Christian, quick question about your executor buttons for position / movement / etc shown at 5:55. I notice you have them set to "Go" and not "Toggle" ... so how to you have them turn off the other executors in the same row when triggered? Is there a macro you reference in the cue cmd that turns other executors in that row off or is there an option setting I don't know about that does this?
hello very good video I started the same way you have the midi config of the elation for example to share or how you mapped it thank you very much I mapped it at the time but I used it for a node now I wanted to add it to the wing = D
S2240T is the best touchscreen to match the size if the wing and encoder allignment. i have tried a few sizes, finally happy with this one. the only thing I am working to add is the different stand, i like it when it overhangs the wing
Eugene Gonchar just looked up that one, the stand on it is pretty hideous. look up the s2340t. yea the screen is bigger, but the footprint of the stand is so much smaller. plus it's a USB3.0 hub as well
the standa are identical, i have both screens, and even though s2340t is slightly bigger i find 21.5 inch more portable than 23 inch... the encoder allignement is good enough on both.... As a comparasis, i did use a 27" all in one with the same resolution, and besides encoders being less alligned, it also didnt benefit me when I had to carry this thing arround
Eugene Gonchar how come when I search "Dell s2240t" on google images it has a big silver stand that folds like a triangle? is that not the monitor you said you have? the s2340T has a black base with a collapsible arm for folding, not a silver triangle scissor stand. the s2240t also doesn't have the USB3.0 hub built into it. they are very different monitors, but both are touchscreen. the 22 is VA where as the 23 is IPS display. I'm not sure you are thinking of the same monitor. google image search both models and you'll see what I mean
+D-Squared oops, you are Right, s2340t was my prefference, because of the base, but they seem to not make them anymore, and even for IPS i am not willing to pay 700+$ for a refurbished one as searched for google
hi christian..love ur videos..im planning to buy the elation midicon..can u tell me using which software did u configure the buttons and faders on the midicon..is it bomes? and can u also make a new a new video on the same?..thanks regards anugeeth
+Joshua Lopez all MA software is free. To unlock the software and be able to actually communicate with devices in the real world, you need to buy MA hardware. No other device will work. Whole setup you see in this video is about $9000
I know your that kind I picked it up after the camera started showing the server box you were still talking ab adjusting your layout an playbacks but I'll ask please just do show video on basic programming like layout playbacks all those things I'm a avolites user but wanna know about MA please
Hello, you are my reference in programming if you can tell me or make a video of how it sets the wheels of the midcom elation, because I do not know the cmd that I have to put to spin them through mid controllers. anyway thank you. Hug Diogo ventura - Brazil
+Guy's Sound and Light Not in the so far future, Prolight & Sound doesn't seem to be preparing for it though. (I built the MA stand, nothing hinting MA3). We've had the MA2 since 2007 ish though IIRC, not sure if it's up for renewal though.
I thought MA3 is out already? I was working with Lleyendecker in Vienna and Amsterdam and the guys there had a Grand MA3 console iirc, I might just be confused since I am just a stagehand amazed by lights lol
I wanted to ask if you ever had any issues with your Enode 8 pro. I tried getting in contact with Elation and asked about the port settings and nobody could give me any information. All they kept telling me was to leave it in default settings. That was very upsetting that they sell a product and have no information about the port settings included in the manual.

Olá eu sou brasileiro e vim aprender com você algumas coisas dessa mesa de iluminação, porque em meu país não encontrei muito conteúdo, eu quero pedir para falar mais sobre essa mesa!
Can you maybe give me a Link for the Bome scribt, got the same Problem but dont have time do program it. Would be great ;D. And thanks for the video, pretty nice one.
But are you really using the last dimmer fx cue in the list or are you using the same over and over again because clicking through ist looks not very nice isnt it?
You have placed 15 dimmer cues in an excec.Do you use cue 15 very often because you have to click throug 14 other before you see it. Clicking through them looks bad either ..
+TechCraft You can go through the cues while the fader is down so there is no output. Or you can do what I do and add a .3 second fade time between cues so it is smooth. Or you can pre-select a cue for the next go by using "load"
Hi, can you output unlimited amount of artnet universes with grandma2 onpc + commandwing combo or are you limited to 2048 parameters (4u) without the nsp?
Hi. Do you have "Session Collision" while using tablet with wifi?I have very often this problem while work from my laptop on stage. Its realy make me nervous... I try different routers, but even I have good signal I still have network problems :(
+Christian Jackson well how can you use a elation e node with it Ik how the bomes works surprisingly but does the extra node actually give you "outputs" or is it just duplicates of your main outs or something
Nic Pagan The enode communicates via artnet. I have as many artnet universes as MA grants me. It depends on which MA hardware I have connected. Right now I have 4096 parameters unlocked in MA, and I can spread that over 256 universes if I like.
I love this topic and how you explain it. But can you please do a total noob tutorial?? I'm completely hooked on how you do all those things but I don't understand most of it. Like from where to start, to do a simulation. That kind of stuff, specially the terms used. Thanks, love the vlog.

keep that network dongle for large gigs, also hide your Wireless SSID's so that other people's mobiles don't ping off them and drop your device off.
Hey Christian! Just wondering how much the wing is?? Can you connect it to 3D? And where did u buy it from? Thanks bruv love ur videos!!

Hi Christian, ivr been warching a lot of your videos. I wonder if i can connect 2 korg nano control? and not conflict each other especially everytime i start MAonPC? thanks a lot bro. 🥂
Nice set up Brother! Can you explain how to set up the enode8 correctly???
can you do a video on setting up MA 3D the way you have done it in this video? Also if you can show how to build your color picker in the layout view
Hey Christian! Do you have any tips on how to make a good stage on 3D?? Thanks bro!
This is great! Please do more videos explaining how it all works!

Hello bro,
How to operate MA2 cansole her connection patching programing and startup.
So please make a playlist of full details video then we are learning easily in Hindi
Start of her basis knowledge.
Have you had good experience using the surface pro at a show where you only have an MA lite or something like that?
Recommend you the Road Hog Console.
How do you assign images to your sequences?? Like what you've done with your bitmap sequences?
Hi christian...Which program do you prefer grand MA onpc2 or dot2?
This was very very helpful!! I loved it

hello very good video I started the same way you have the midi config of the elation for example to share or how you mapped it thank you very much I mapped it at the time but I used it for a node now I wanted to add it to the wing = D
Curious as to why you didn't just buy it from ACT and avoid customs all together (and have it shipped with a US Edison plug)?
+Luke Stratton Designs hey Luke! Because it was $1500 cheaper :) love your videos.
Christian Jackson thanks! That's a great reason haha
Very nice, im saving for one myself. thanks for showing this setup! cheers!

Cheaper than the GrandMA - $78,000
How you you like the Elation Enode? Work well?
Dude an Ascot Case would be perfect and probably around the same price..
Did you send art net from the pc before you got the command wing?
I know your that kind I picked it up after the camera started showing the server box you were still talking ab adjusting your layout an playbacks but I'll ask please just do show video on basic programming like layout playbacks all those things I'm a avolites user but wanna know about MA please
it is time for locking edison plugs.
How do y'all make these work when there is an unlimited number of variations and combinations of lights and screens and God knows what else?
Hello, you are my reference in programming if you can tell me or make a video of how it sets the wheels of the midcom elation, because I do not know the cmd that I have to put to spin them through mid controllers. anyway thank you. Hug Diogo ventura - Brazil
How did you connect the elation Buttons without the bomes Translator? Via artnet or how?
If you want to use timecode, how do you do? Because you are already using midi for the wing. 3:24
Where did you buy??? I cant find a purchase area on their site
when do you think they'll make an MA3?
+Guy's Sound and Light Not in the so far future, Prolight & Sound doesn't seem to be preparing for it though. (I built the MA stand, nothing hinting MA3).
We've had the MA2 since 2007 ish though IIRC, not sure if it's up for renewal though.
***** k thanks..... You built the stand? wow!
I thought MA3 is out already? I was working with Lleyendecker in Vienna and Amsterdam and the guys there had a Grand MA3 console iirc, I might just be confused since I am just a stagehand amazed by lights lol
Good stuff Chris!
Are you using bitmapping for the LED circle or effect engine? It's look greet
+Samuel Lafond both at different times
are those mechanical switches?
If I have a Midicon Pro will it connect to the command wing w/o using both units 5 pin midi ports?
I wanted to ask if you ever had any issues with your Enode 8 pro. I tried getting in contact with Elation and asked about the port settings and nobody could give me any information. All they kept telling me was to leave it in default settings. That was very upsetting that they sell a product and have no information about the port settings included in the manual.
The port settings are really straightforward.... what is confusing?
There is no explanation about the FPS and RESEND. My understanding is that Artnet in MA refreshes at 30 FPS. When its idle it slows down to 2 to 3 FPS. I just would like clarification on the port settings because the FPS goes as high as 40 FPS and the resend has a high value of up to 256. When I contacted Elation in California they never gave me any other answer other than to leave it in the default settings. I am not sure why there would be no written information about this subject. Thank you Christian.

when you said you had synced strobe did you mean synced to the song ? if so how did you do that ?
Can you maybe give me a Link for the Bome scribt, got the same Problem but dont have time do program it. Would be great ;D. And thanks for the video, pretty nice one.
nice setup!
hai ,
this configuration work with out nsp.
Rich nigga got them nexus 2000 2 and a freaking ma I'm sittin here with virtual dj and Martin /enttec 😂
when you get to his level of programming, buying a wing is a logical choise. then you make even more money with it
please teach me how to setup MA2 and elation eNode 8 Pro?
hey buddy how did you get the font smaller on the GrandMA PC?
But are you really using the last dimmer fx cue in the list or are you using the same over and over again because clicking through ist looks not very nice isnt it?
+TechCraft I'm not sure what you are asking
You have placed 15 dimmer cues in an excec.Do you use cue 15 very often because you have to click throug 14 other before you see it. Clicking through them looks bad either ..
+TechCraft You can go through the cues while the fader is down so there is no output. Or you can do what I do and add a .3 second fade time between cues so it is smooth. Or you can pre-select a cue for the next go by using "load"
What is the model of your laptop?
I would love to see more lighting Videos!
i want to buy one but i dont know where do you know where i can buy one other then Ebay
im looking for an artnet 4 port node, im not sure whats ou there so any suggestions please (running ma2 onpc with no command wing)
How do I get MA2 ON PC to send DMX out of a dmx interface been trying to find this out for ages
I want to learn to do this, where can I take a course or study for that ?
Hi, can you output unlimited amount of artnet universes with grandma2 onpc + commandwing combo or are you limited to 2048 parameters (4u) without the nsp?
+SuperTurkumies You have 2048 parameters that can be spread across up to 256 universes.
Could I rent my Quitman out because at the moment not getting any gigs ✌🏻️✌🏻
How do you make that layout view?
Hi i'm wondering how do you configure the midicon with grand ma on pc, i you can tell me it would be great :)
I can do this for almost any MIDI controller for a fee. Reach out to me via email bome@sniz.biz
Hi. Do you have "Session Collision" while using tablet with wifi?I have very often this problem while work from my laptop on stage. Its realy make me nervous... I try different routers, but even I have good signal I still have network problems :(
Never use WiFi with MA net. If you need to have a remote computer to program, use the web remote feature.
@@christianjackson Ah, I thought that you use your ms surface mostly with wifi, so i thought that I do something wrong. Thank you.
What's the benefit of a on pc wing as opposed to like a elation midi con pro with way more faders for 1/10 the price
+Nic Pagan midicon pro doesnt unlock MA software
+Christian Jackson so you can't use ma if you don't have a ma product??
Nic Pagan right
+Christian Jackson well how can you use a elation e node with it Ik how the bomes works surprisingly but does the extra node actually give you "outputs" or is it just duplicates of your main outs or something
Nic Pagan The enode communicates via artnet. I have as many artnet universes as MA grants me. It depends on which MA hardware I have connected. Right now I have 4096 parameters unlocked in MA, and I can spread that over 256 universes if I like.
how to assign midi keyboard in GrandMa 2 on pc????i have Nektar Impact Lx 61 Midi Keyboard please help me......
