Hey Christian, whenever I change my fixture type from dimmer to the right fixture, the patch goes away and changes to "(-)", do you know why that happens? Love ur videos btw!
To also get the layer name, open the .xml file with a text editor, search for the phrase "Layer Name" and replace all occurences with "Layer name" (no capitalization in "name" is the important part). At least it is a workaround until capture fixes this issue :)

Have you been able to import multi instance fixtures from Capture to MA so that their 3D data gets imported as well? I was struggling with some Sunbeam 100FCs today and had to eventually import them in a 3-channel mode and then morph to the pixel mode I was going after. The XML does have their 3D location information, but MA2 doesn't seem to be able to handle it on a multi instance fixture. The way you do this (import as dimmers and change the fixture type) kind of solves it, but I would want to be able to import directly to the correct fixture type, especially when working with big rigs. And by the way. Specifying the fixture type numbers in Capture works just fine just as it does when exporting from Vectorworks to MA. You just need to pre-import the fixture types to your show file first. The syntax I use for this is: cd editsetup cd layers import FILE.xml
Yeah, but the amount of time spent importing the fixture IDs before hand and arranging them properly I would say takes more time than just importing as dimmers, plus like you said it keeps multi instance fixtures from getting messed up. Most of the time multi instance comes out okay that way, but many times I just leave the 3D close enough and make my layout views precisely with the arrangement of instances I want

At work we use Martin K10 and Mac 700 abow the stage. For spost we use 4 encor. And for backraun and the side we somtime ute colurdhas at setra. You can't. You can only import fixtures that have been exported from Capture unfortunately. If you need a fixture that isn't in the Capture library then you need to request it from Capture them self.

Hi Christian, I exported Patch from Avolites Titan One to XML file, and expecting to do the same as your tutorial in this video getting the same result but it wasn't. After type command cd 4 >> enter wich is select and open Layer Folder containing XML File, I typed List the result is red Warning No Object Found For List. I just realized the XML file that exported from Titan One have different informations apart from XML file provided/exported by Capture. So, is there any chance some how we can import Patch from XML file from Titan One to MA2? Thanks in advance. on ma2 on pc make a new show and create an empty layer in the patch. export the layer (button below in the patch window) with a name, say "hello". Now in the "Fixture_Layers" folder you should see your xml file exported from capture and also Hello. Open your file with a text editor and copy all the text then open the Hello file with the same text editor and paste the text from your file over the text of Hello file. now use the procedure explained in the video importing the Hello file. hope this helps
Unless you have some sort of MA hardware then unfortunately it is impossible to visualise MA2 with Capture. This is so you cannot output to fixtures in real time as this is illegal without MA hardware.

Looking at this now, it DOES do the layer names! A bit cluncy but better than layer 1

The software is free but if you want to output to real fixtures you need ma hardware that unlocks parameters

Very nice Video :D. But i have some connection Problems to connect GrandMA on PC and Capture on the same PC. I can´t controlle the fixture in Capture.
Do you have MA hardware in your session to unlock parameters?
