3:18 Great video! btw the best method to make ants move out is simply water, attach the formicarium and place something that SLOWLY drips water, they will instinctively move out while it starts flooding, this is especially efficient for colonies that made their nest in soil like yours.
I personally think that the best nests are made by hightechants because they not only have a humidity sensor which is not very common among ant nests but their build quality is second to none.
The "best ant farm" to me really varies by species. For sone, such as my harvester ants, a sinple box full of dirt is a better enclosure than pre-made formicariums like this.
I think he means display formicariums. These really are the best for non wood dwelling ants because you can have species tailored ones and customize the humidity yourself.
@@zachutchinson1995 Unfortunately not, it's a UK based shop, but I think you can buy them still but shipping could cost a lot. You should definitely keep a look out for other retailers though because they are definitely amazing setups. Hope that helps!!
Finally an ant channel that isn't ants Canada. I can't stand that guy. Thanks for keeping your videos interesting and to the point without 45 minutes of filler, fake drama, shameless self promotion, patronizing tones, or pompous mediocrity. Wish I could find more ant channels like you.
good vide i have just gotten my first ant queen with 4 workers and a few brood camptonotos mini nigraceps its very cold in victoria atm she has not layed any new eggs and they dont seem to want to eat honey or meal worms
im currently planning to get funnel ants but im not sure about the care for them can you give me some tips? as i am currently a beginner and when i said currently i got auto corrected to cumlord okk….
I had two ant colonize and all the ants escaped went to the bathroom and there were two ant colonize just chilling years later we moved no one else new were they lived

nice one completely demolishing their nest and dumping them into a new container while simultaneously talking about ants being sensitive to stress. you sir are a pathetic ant keeper. this is not how you move a colony to a new home
In my opinion I’d say these types of ant nets aren’t the best, ants really like to dig in their nest so I’d recommend putting dirt inside of it so the ants can dig in it

Without a doubt my favorite nest so far!

Yeah but can you still watch the colony then except for the ones on the outside? (sorry im verry new and dont know much yet)

@@TheAntKeeper all good man
i just got a sugar ant colony like yours last night. how long does it take for them to feel comfortable to go into their new outworld and hunt?
The Wakooshi Saturn nest is my favourite ant farm, but these do look very cool. I will definitely test these out in the future, great video man 👍
I have seen a few wakooshi nests that look amazing… is there any retailer in aus that sell them ?

Will you be posting again it’s been a year
When you catch a queen ant how often do you feed it.
Once it has workers once to twice a week.

Try varying the food to something different or moving her to a warmer area if it's cold where you keep her. If it's warm than make it a bit colder.
I would try and put the setup your using close to some sort of heat source, it works every time for me!
Hi I just caught a queen ant but I have one problem, how do I know if my queen ant is colosteral/semi-colosteral or not
Join my discord and post it on the general thread, someone will know what is it and I'm sure will be more than happy to help!

How are you keeping the nest dark dose it come with a red cover?
Hey, I didn’t get a red shield. Instead I made a cover with aluminium foil. It’s been working really well since then too
Awesome video!
Nice to know I’m not the only UA-camr in Australia.
i had a ant farm and the queen almost escaped and i shutted it but the queens head was in the way so the queens head came off...
Sounds like Marie Antoinette during the French Revolution if you know what I mean 😉
Oh my god
Did it die? Cause sometimes it can have a mutation where it grows back 2 heads
Uh that's terrible :/
if she died it would be sad :\/
have you tried antscanada antfarm's or ant dimension's antfarms?
I haven't yet! there's a few nests out there I would be interested to try

Do you have a discord server? I would love to join!
I have a large carebara diversa colony. If I put them in a ytong nest my house will be overrun since that species can chew threw ytong
Yeah that would not be fun to fix!!
