The ending section is very Katatonia, it's a signature sound of theirs especially in the 90's era
For me, this is what swedish death metal magnum opus is. Slaps absolutely perfect.
That ending is actually Katatonia af.
True. Especially the riff
Just wanted 2 write that 😆
Yea, I fucking cried when I first heard it
Akerfeldt has the best "roar" in all of DM.
Not sitting still and rule of cool nonsensical structures are death metal trademarks, especially in a 90s framework. And I remember discussing this on an Entombed reaction, the guitar sound is very characteristic and reminiscent of the 90s Boss pedal Buzzsaw.
All that said, it's really not a band to overhink about, this is really just 5 guys having fun with their roots.
I feel spoiled with Replicant and Bloodbath right after each other! Hoping some Katatonia or Opeth might return in the near furure haha
Such a treasure. They're still around with Nick Holmes as frontman now? Saw them a few years ago at this festival. Very, very good.
28:25 phrase "god's dead, bro" just sends me
it's like bill and ted witnessing deicide
Whoa! [plays air guitar]
I'd love to see a reaction to some newer Bloodbath in comparison. Like "Let the Stillborn come to me" or "Zombie Inferno".
I love going to work while listening to this song
The first riff is 2 bars 4/4 + a stop of 2/4
Their EP "Blasting the virginborn" was IMO better than the entire album this song is on, as Åkerfelts vocals started declining on this one, and also production wasnt as fat. But yeah, last Bloodbath alright album before I lost interest in them
Completely agree. They were my favourite band for a long time, but The Fathomless Mastery was only ok and they lost me after that.
A display of old school death with progressive embellishments. Love it!
It's simply band members with death (and doom) roots who had developed into prog territory. The core here is def death. They formed this band because they wanted an outlet for more old school death (but couldn't "undevelop" 😁)
There's way better songs. Keep listening bro
