Nice storage idea. I have 1 to maximise your pegboard. Drill holes in the middle of 4 holes to look like a dice's number 5 center hole. Measure the diameter of your peghooks. Get hexnuts 1.5 to 2 times that thickness. Put the nuts between the pegboard and your furring strips on the wall. Now you can use ALL the holes.
@@rattlingaroundthegarage you're welcome, but there's 1 big obstacle: you'd have to take all your tools off the pegboard and put them up again. That's a pain in the butt I'd prefer to avoid myself.
Great work, it looks pretty slick. I’ve had the same idea with large cardboard shipping tubes collected over the years. I’ve also used the hollows of cinderblocks that make up my steps into the house.
@RonTodd-gb1eo That is a really good idea! I'm going to do that! I've been storing my cables in a box but it's turned out to be a pain in the ass. Thanks for the idea!!
There are really strong small cardboard tubes in plastic wrap. Glad makes the strongest tubes. I cut and hot glued a bunch for different items in one drawer of my desk a couple decades ago and they still work great. Cut with a hacksaw.
Plastic pipe for the win! I also have a series of 4” pipe mounted upright in a row across my tool pegboard. They hold all my commonly used pliers for quick and easy access. I put 1 leg of the pliers in the pipe.
I was totally thinking about doing something like that! Right now my pliers are mounted on the pegboard that way they're designed to be hung, but it's a highly inefficient use of space. Your approach would be much better!
Unline most of my ideas, this one turned out GREAT! I have a modification I'll be adding to another section of the shelf, hoping to do it and shoot it this next week.
Great video, awesome idea. Also, I was waiting to see if that light blue can on the top right side of the shelf was going to make it through the whole video! It was close, but it held on!!!
Great use of the space! Question: Do you think it could have been done with hot glue only? Then maybe screw the assembly to the bottom of the shelf? Kinda looks like a Pan Flute!
Great minds think alike! I'm working on designing something exactly like that. You bring up a good point though: I do a lot ot things to help me shoot better video but don't share a lot of that; I figure no one would be interested in that.
@@rattlingaroundthegarage I am in the process of building a electronics work bench and ham shack. I will be using the small tubes to hold various items under a shelf...Thanks for that idea!
@@Ezzell_ Looking forward to seeing what you design! I dream of one day getting into the electronics side of it all. I always seem to make a hash of it when I try.
Love this stuff! Let me see, i have 9 square inches of space, what can I put in there. I spend countless hours messing around in the shop move things around and gaining another 6 square inches. Not sure if i am efficient or just a little nuts 😂
@@rattlingaroundthegarage absolutely i have stuff in the rafters in mi workshop, only 6.5 ft high but I am always looking for space and find it. I love your channel and hope to learn and laugh. I painted my pegboard white so the tools stand out and the place seems brighter. I'm subscribed-!
@@carmgitto Super-glad you're enjoying the channel. I used to have my pegboard white but it felt sterile to me. That said, with it black, the place is darker. No winning, right?!

That would totally work! Sorry I didn't think of that before, but this is all new to me. Thanks for the tip!!

@ronyerke9250 Yeah, I'd have to sort of do it all over again, so for now I think I'll run with what I have.
Great work, it looks pretty slick. I’ve had the same idea with large cardboard shipping tubes collected over the years. I’ve also used the hollows of cinderblocks that make up my steps into the house.
I'm going to steal those ideas! I've also decided to use the round cardboard cement form tubes to organize my wood. Future video!
i have used smaller tubes to store cables.

@@Rein_Ciarfella That's a great idea! I might try that in my toolbox drawers. They're a mess and need a better system.

That looks amazing. Super functional. Also, I think cutting PVC helps clean pitch off the blade.
I didn't know that--that's cool! Now to Google what "pitch" is. 🤣
i will be using this idea!

Really good idea and looks awesome.
I've been using it almost everyday and love it. Have some ideas for improvements. Future video!
Nice. Wouldn’t have thought of the hot glue. Thanks
It worked a treat

🤣🤣 Yeah, I noticed that on the playback as well. Nothing like adding a little suspence to the deal, right?!
Looks good!
Thanks! Been using it a ton already!

Yes, could totally have been done with hot glue only. I even tested that after the fact and felt pretty silly to have screwed them in.
Very neat.
Thanks! Now thinking about what to do on my other shelves. Would like to think of something different, but if it works, it works!
How about pvc pipes of 1.5 to 2 inches wide ...fold up cords such as usb, power, mic, random wire.....and store them in the pipes.

Embrace your constraints! Granted, 9 square inches isn't much, but it's something to work with.

Made it a lot easier!
I like it too.
Thanks!!
The black pipe is called ABS not PVC. But nice job.
Thanks! I had no idea. Of course it makes sense--different material for a different use. I'll have to update my jargon!

Oh thanks for the ideas.
It's an MG, but you're right, they're all pretty much the same car. 😁
