This van means so much to me. My family bought an EX-L in 2005, and it served us well for 13 years, and even was my first car that I drove and really called mine. So overly practical and well engineered, and surprisingly fun to drive with the torquey engine, and barely any issues over 140,000 miles. I don't like the exterior design anymore, but when i have kids, the Odyssey is such a practical logical choice. And I think the redesigned seats with the piping are really quite attractive!
Similar story for me. My dad has driven his ‘07 EX-L for all of its 130,000 miles and barely had any repairs needed. I still vividly remember accompanying him to the dealership to take delivery on March 3, 2007. I remember always feeling so safe in that tank of a minivan. I now have a similar feeling behind the wheel of my ‘19 Accord 2.0T.
after years of loyalty, our 2005 odyssey saved my mom's life in a huge freak accident. They basically had to cut the car in half to get her out, and i'm convinced she'd be gone if she used a different car. its too bad cuz even at 15 years old, it had alotta life left in it...

I have a 2004 pilot with the same engine. It’s really really fun to drive even with 220k on my baby. Still sounds really good and pulls very hard with that many miles. These engines are amazing. They really are torquey idk why people say Hondas don’t have torque I think my pilot has more torque than my relatives 05 highlander and feels punchier. Good cars tho
I've always been a diehard Honda lover. This is the only car company that I grew up with when I was younger. Hondas are built to last, and like he said in the video when he test drove an older Honda Odyssey with 300,000 miles on it it just goes to show you how well built hondas are.
Right, an older Odyssey. Unfortunately for the 5th gen Odyssey, the 2018 and 2019 got the short end of the stick and has its fair share of problems, especially with its 9 speed ZF transmission. 2020 has definitely gotten better and I hope Honda figured everything out for this 2021 model.

JesterX Fan Funilly enough, we traded in our 2017 Pilot 6 speed for the 2019 Odyssey 9 speed. I hope they fixed the jerky gear change at around 21mph on the 6 speed, because it was unbearable. Thankfully, we haven’t had any issues with our 9 speed, so fingers crossed.
When you revved it on the highway I got excited. This thing sounds EXACTLY like my 03 Odyssey would when 16 year old me was gunning it on the i94 Freeway, haha. Love this engine and I know it is bulletproof. The transmission I cannot say the same for. My 03 started clunking into gear 3 so I had to get rid of it but I am glad this engine's roar is still alive! Love that sound
For a minivan, the odyssey has always been surprisingly loud and fast. Easily the second coolest option if your an enthusiast and need to take the kids to school (first place goes to the hellcat durango)

I can’t wait for the review of the new 2021 sienna, Sedona and Pacifica. My initial thoughts are that I’m disappointed they all have big center console blocking the empty pass thru space between the driver and passenger and that the sienna and Sedona have non removable 2nd row seats.
We've driven our '11 odyssey all over the country. The driving position and seat comfort are perfect for long hauls. My favorite part is how well it handles both empty and fully loaded with 7 people + luggage.
I just bought a new Honda Accord 2.0T a couple weeks ago. I agree that Hondas feel great to drive. They feel smooth, tactile, and the car just does what you want it to do. Great review as always.
Well you could pay a lot less if you go for a lower tier trim, I think a base model is only 30k. Though I think the middle trim is the sweet spot and for about 35-37k a reliable, gigantic van like this is great for kids to be hauled around in. That’s what it’s made for after all, it even comes it a vacuum lol
eddo_ mylegoo i don’t disagree though you wouldn’t have to pay near 50 even for the highest rim, I’m sure even with conservative negotiations you could get it for 45k. If I had more than a coupe kids I’d happily pick up an odyssey.
My wife and I had SUV's, her a 2018 Escape and me a 2020 Forester. We took advantage of the outrageous used car trade in values and traded both our vehicles in. She's been wanting a van for a long time and didn't want another SUV, so we ended up with a new 2022 Odyssey EX in blue. At 33 years old, I told myself for years I'd never get a van, but... I never realized how much a van is actually useful. Super comfortable in all seating areas, folding the third row opens up so much more space, and with the second row taken out you can legit put a small couch in it and close the hatch. Because of this, I no longer needed a truck and got a WRX that I've been wanting for a long time, but I'll still end up getting a small beater truck to haul stuff around that isn't suitable for the van.
We used to have a 2019 Odyssey Touring, my mom sold it for a 2021 Rav4 XLE and now she regrets it, I miss this thing so bad, it was a smoother more luxurious driving experience.
Doug DeMuro sucks. I find some of his quirks and features are somewhat informative, but he really isn't very objective and doesn't give much insight about the cars he "reviews". Hell, Regular Cars is way more informative, and his channel is primarily for entertainment. The only automotive UA-camr I dislike more is Scotty Kilmer.
Really good review on the driving experience. I drive the same in my 2021. I’ve had fast cars before the Odyssey, and hands down put this minivan at the top.

We still have our 2004 Honda Oddessy sitting in our driveway. Only 100,000 miles and everything is going great! Transmission is starting to slip though, so we will see how long we keep it.

This things flies way above new Carnival in terms of driving dynamics solidity road feel and the power. Yeah inforainment maybe dated a bit. Kia is still few years behind this thing.
The weakness of the Honda and Odyssey especially is the transition and the brakes in comparison to Toyota. I used to own a Toyota Sienna minivan and now I own the Honda Touring Elite.

No, its not bad at all. The Ody is way cooler than a passport. It can do all the things, with very little downside. Plus, when you do decide to have kids, what better vehicle to conceive them in?

That’s the only I missed on my 2014 odyssey. The engine did sound nice. My 2020 (and prior 2017) Pacifica engine sounds so course. But I think they improved the insulation on the 2020 so it doesn’t sound as bad as my prior 2017 version.
Thabkfully the Odyssey still has a removable 2nd row. Toyota ruined the purpose of a minivan by redesigning the Sienna to be impractical. Hopefully the 6th gen Odyssey will keep the removable 2nd row (or Stow n Go if Chrysler's patent expires)
I love mini vans because you are invisible on the road! Everyone wants to fit in and look cool. Suv People hate the thought of owning a mini van, but a person who drives a mini van is respected on the road. There is to much ego in the suv. I do not like to follow the crowd. The mini van is extremely under appreciated, yet they extremely over deliver! If you wanted to sneak a celebrity or a high profile person into a certain location, all you need to do is put them in a mini van. The last thing you want to do, is put them in a luxury suv. That draws too much attention. I want to be like warren buffet, to be worth over a billion dollars yet drive a mini van and look stealthy so know one ever pays attention.

Difficult to distinguish which Honda Sensing version since they don't label them 1.0 or 2.0 or 2.5. Ford does with Sync 1, 2, 3 and Toyota with whatever they call their system, but Honda doesn't let us know what version Sensing this is?
minivans are nice but unfortunately there aren’t many options out there nowadays and they are no where as luxurious and refined as most suvs - interiors are only decent at best and there’s still much left to be desired for the ride comfort. with that being said, their only purpose is practicality for large families...
Not sure what suvs you’re referencing but there’s an awful lot of shit quality suvs saturating the market today. Quality materials to dollars spent, this odyssey is every bit as good as most comparably priced large suvs.
My moms, Honda Odyssey has much more tork and quick responsive. It’s a 2010 Odyssey Touring. Why does Honda lower the tork when you get in high speed. It’s quite sad...
This country has gone SUV insane... I still love a solid mini van though.

Sienna is better, also it is a AWD. Doesn't make much sense to me to drive a such big car without AWD.

Not sure what suvs you’re referencing but there’s an awful lot of shit quality suvs saturating the market today. Quality materials to dollars spent, this odyssey is every bit as good as most comparably priced large suvs.
