God do I miss the Burlington Northern!
14:10 That little dog is very brave to be so close to the train.
At least it waited patiently until it passed instead of taking a chance running under it😊
😂
That dog is smarter than some humans
Came here for Burlington Northern, but seeing the Milwaukee Road trains and the Canadian were a bonus. Color shots--let alone film!--of the Canadian in CPR livery at the Vancouver Waterfront is very, very rare.
I live 20min from Bellingham, great to see some old footage!
That Milwaukee Bellingham footage is very rare. Good stuff.
Thank you for sharing these videos, its great to see this era in living footage rather than photo collections.
Boy do those vids bring bak the good old days from the 50"s thru the 80's. I worked the 70's till retirement July 31, 2018 & the 1st 25 saw a lot of changes mostly attributed to computers & deregulation which allowed the last 20 yrs 2 wish I'd picked a different occupation. It was not enjoyable or gratifying job then. When I started in 2972 it was a job that u were proud to say that u were a railroader,, but then the railroad turned into a business & they ran it like they wished they didn't need us anymore & there main goal was & is still 2 remove ALL or as many as they can employees from their company. This all started when they were deregulated. Change is necessary but the trail of humans u leave behind is sad. It's all about that mighty $ & that works both ways for both the employer & employee.
In 100% agreement with Ted. Only things different are the dates. July 1978 till Feb 2019.
Congrats to you both. Enjoy your retirement. 6/7ths of the way there myself, some days I wonder if I'll make it.
Great video! I was a young kid when a lot of this power was running on the rails in the PNW, but it is good to see again.
Frantastic stuff thanks for sharing it!
Fantastic footage 👍 thank you for sharing this. Great era. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
Love the GN blue box cars
There’s something very authentic about the BN’s horns, half of them are fouled and the other half are very high pitched.
I bet they sounded better than they do on film
On entire consist : No Tags!
2 of the BN freights had C&S (Colorado & Southern) units leading.
Cool video and channel just subscribed
I worked in many of those places and mainlines, I’m currently working on both the Stampede and Yakima Valley Subs between the Stampede Wye and SP&S Jct, I have worked on the Seattle Sub between King St and Vancouver, WA and the Scenic sub, Bellingham Sub, the former Milwaukee Lynden branch, Cherry Pt, Sumas Sub, Woodinville branch, Prairie Line, Columbia River Sub, Lakeside Sub and Fallbridge Sub, I worked out of Interbay for a couple of years (2009-2010) and Tacoma for a short time in 2014.
Is “Stampede Wye” what they call the wye at Auburn?
If only Pentrex could get a hold of this!
All those fallen flags. Wasn't laser focused attention but of all the roads seen only Amtrak, the Borg and Borg North 1 & 2 are still around.
Awesome
Amazing footage .... I loved it!!! Thank You for sharing this
I miss the Cascade green, I miss the EMD Fs the variety of freights, no boring unit trains, well I really miss my youth! The 70s were a good time in the NW for me.
Here in the BNSF rail yard in Superior, Wisconsin there are a couple locomotives in their original Cascade green doing yard duties with the white diagonal stripes on their fronts. There is also a green caboose that is on the rear of small consists that go around the city 😊
Hard to believe I ride the Empire Builder that has the same cars shown on this film. Considering that, they’re actually in decent shape!
There’s a charm about old 8 mil. Film.
Great old footage, thanks for sharing this!👍🏼
Great video
geez that is some dirty locos
I say, the Milwaukee Road should be revived, all their electric lines reinstalled, and the first transcontinental Electric Railroad line established.
it likes you guys better than devil herself
WHAT! NO GRAFFITI!
11:45 is that BN 2223 or 2222?
No graffiti on the freight cars
Basically no graffiti anywhere. Building walls, bridges, street signs, etc 😂😂
Nice to see trains without the spray painted scribblings of urban degenerates.
Calm down!
You must be fun at parties

This has to be fake or photoshopped/edited. There was no graffiti ANYWHERE!!? Not on the rail cars, street signs, building walls, bridges, basically anywhere spray paint could be applied 😂🤣 j/k. Great video though, thanks 👍
