The cabrios weren't built by VW, but by Karman and the Karman paint colours were different to VW ones. The flloorpan is slightly different to the standard Golf. The Scirocco Mk1 & Mk2 were also built by Karman on the Mk1 Cabrio floorpan. MK2 Sciroccos were wax protected from the factory.
I owned a Mk1 Golf Cabrio in Paprika Red in the early 90’s, glorious colour - until some idiot tried to break into it. The guy who fixed it took ages to get the colour match but he did a brilliant job, so hats off to you for managing this today! Wonderful car and mine is still on the road 32 years after I bought it (although not owned by me 😢)
Nice job as always, my preferred method of dealing with rust on the bonnet would be to linish all the paint off, as there are usually more rust spots lurking underneath. The time saved filling all the rust spots makes it quicker overall, 45mins hour to strip that bonnet
I've got an old girlfriend helping me at the moment and she can't believe how much prep goes into just a small job and trying too get a colour match . You did a good job on the rabbit but like most reds don't park it under a street lamp at night lol .
Golf 1's did have a black protection piece on the rear arch, where the cabrio in your video obviously has an improvised one. Thought is in line with the original, execution less so.
Flippin heck, that was a great watch on a rather epic car.
Lewis, every time I watch you I think "I can do that" every time I try I'm reminded I can't 😢.
Always stunned by the absolute quality of your work, incredible to watch. Perfection.
What an excellent job guys, well done.
A job well done indeed. A very pretty car gets the expert care it deserves.
