I got a SW .30 SC Shield EZ back in April 2022 & 1400 rds Federal Ammo, Fits my hand great! Looking forward to summer in IN.
The only video on UA-cam performing this test that everyone has been wanting to know. Thank you! SUBSCRIBED!
Thanks for the video fellas! Matches what we've felt shooting the 30 Super Carry! 30% should be VERY noticeable to anyone who spends a decent amount of time at the range! Subbed.
thanks for sharing! I love the idea behind the 30 SC, I just wish it had more guns. It's been 2 years, and we have 3 guns, and the last was a Hi-Point carbine from May 2023.
I already shoot .40S&W, I don't need another expensive round lol.
But I won't lie, I am sorely tempted by these $300 Shield Plus 30SCs. OR, smol as hell, 13 round flush... if Smith & Wesson would make a M&P30 I bet it'd have 20+ rounds in the mag and I'd buy one as soon as it was announced.
I always wanted a .32 ACP +P+ and then Federal makes .30 "Rowland" 😅
I really appreciate the video highlights a lot between a 9 mm and a super carry
Very informative, professional, and backed with technology. You guys nailed it!
not blind tested. shooter shouldn`t know what gun he is holding
Lookin forward to seeing more from you on this cartridge!
Thank you. We have plenty more coming.
.30 Super Carry was the answer to a question no one was asking.
Hahahahahahahahaha
You dang right
Yessss. Ballistics of the 30sc against the 9mm. I'm intrigued
They are around the corner!
Thanks for the information!
I have both !
That’s dope! And thank you for the kind words!
I don't get why they don't called it .31 super carry
Never felt unarmed with a .32 ACP, the 30 SC looks like a nice jump up....I really want S&W or another big name to bring out a new pistol design in the 7.65 x 25 Tok.
Excellent test, surprising results. Looking forward to future results with this.
I watched a video where they did the same comparison. A camera was looking straight on from the side. They showed a slow motion, side-by-side view, and the 30 super carry clearly had less muzzle flip. Seemed to correspond with your data quite well.
Love the Shaft theme running in the background!
Thank you. You just proved what I've been saying and 9mm fanboys have been denying. I'd tell them it's a mathematical impossibility, with their difference in projectile momentum, that they have about the same recoil. They just outright refused that information. But now, you have given me empirical data to cite whenever someone wants to block their ears.
That's because so many videos are out saying 30 has less recoil some say more recoil some say they are even this is one of the ones to say .30 has less
ua-cam.com/video/1MG9ragNhQE/v-deo.html
@@johns3153 Understand that it's a mathematical impossibility for 9mm to have less, unless it's a reduced power load.
@@vlogfriendsutopia i actually like more recoil tbh i have 22MAG 32ACP 9mm 40S&W And i carry 40s&w
@@johns3153 I carry 45 ACP/45 Colt. I don't mind recoil either.
@@johns3153 Same, i carry a pocket Howitzer.
More recoil is not better for quick, accurate follow up shots.
It might make you feel manlier, but you're not.
Super dope vlog Ken! Very informative data numbers to back it up too!
Great analysis. Thanks!
Even better if you guys used the Shield Plus for the evaluation instead of the Shield EZ. The Shield plus is a much better gun and obviously destroys the EZ in capacity with 13+1 in the 9mm and 16+1 in the 30sc Shield plus. You guys are one of the very few UA-cam videos where the recoil for the 30sc is touted as being 20-30% less than the 9mm. If the Federal engineers themselves claim there is less recoil, then to me there has been an ulterior motive by many of the UA-camrs to talk down the 30sc cartridge.
I bought a 30sc Shield plus as soon as I saw one at my LGS. I already had the 9mm Shield Plus for a year. Nobody can convince me that the 17rds of 30sc HST in my Shield Plus is less effective than the 13+1 rounds of 9mm HST I already had in my 9mm Shield Plus. To top it off, my 9mm HST's have been 147gr, which according to Federal's data on the boxes of ammo, have 21ft/lbs LESS ENERGY than my newest 100gr 30sc HST's. The 30sc HST also expands and penetrates just as good as the 9mm HST's.
Everybody talking this round down is just a fudd that doesn't appreciate new technology in the gun world. If S&W can add 3 to their stack and a half model, then the other engineers at Glock, Ruger, Sig etc, can add 3 extra rounds to their stack and a half models like the 43x, Max9, CR920, 365X and XL, Hellcat, GX4, etc.
Why exactly does it bother the gun community so much that they get more rounds of 30sc in the same size gun? The original Shield had 7rds of 9mm, and the new Shield plus had 10rds, Three more rounds of 30sc in the Shield plus is the same ratio, yet I've seen so many idiots on youtube make the dumb statement that 2-3 extra rounds wasn't enough to make a difference. Those 2-3 extra rounds is the entire point of the stack and a half market that was started by Sig with the release of the 365. There is no reason so far that this 30sc round should be criticized by anybody.
I agree. And you’re correct the recoil difference is more apparent in the shield plus because of the design of the gun. We have footage covering that coming out soon
I think the motive is that 9mm fanboys don't want to admit that 30 SC does 9mm better than 9mm.
The compact stack and a half or compact double stack actually I think it more originated in the Taurus millennium or G series guns. They were smaller than a Glock 19 but bigger than the single stacks. The Sig 365 is only marginally smaller than a g2c or g3c with similar capacity. It's also a better gun in about every way except that it cost about double.
The sub-compact 9mms have two things going against them that people don't really want to talk about. The 380 is actually talked about being snappy when in the truly small guns, that often have a sister 9mm very similar in size and weight. So small single stack 9mm are bordering uncomfortable for many shooters in the recoil and control department. But most importantly and often overlooked is the fact that most 9mm defensive ammo becomes far less reliable at the reduced velocities from those shorter barrels. The 30SC should recoil only slightly more than a 380 but due to the higher pressures and higher velocities while having a smaller area to initiate expansion with similar total energy at impact, compact carry guns should have more reliable terminal performance than pocket 9mms.
So as said somewhere else in these comments, these 9mm fanboys are being salty because 30SC does 9mm better than 9mm does.
@@bryantitus6634 Do you think caliber 5.7x28 would be suitable for a compact design ...?
Add the EZ 380 for data against the EZ 30 SC PLEASE
Dope information you always give bro!🔥
Thank you bro! That means a lot. There’s a ton coming down the pipe
@@ProvectusGroup might have me converting over to the M&P family soon!
Haha you wouldn’t be the first lol. Keep me in the loop and I’m expecting you’ll be at the Range Day in July?
I have seen the pistols haven't seen much ammo though would like to see it in the MP compact for those that love capacity it should be a win
Agreed. I have a shield plus on the way that’s chambered in 30 Super. With 17+ rounds, and a little more gun to absorb what little recoil is here I’m hopeful.
I've seen 30sc HST and federal range ammo at my local gun store in the Tampa area, as well as 30sc range and HST at the Tampa BassPro. I've also found 30sc HST online at several vendors like PSA, Primary Arms, KIR ammo, etc. The self defense prices have been pretty much identical to the 9mm HST prices, with the range ammo being similar to 380 pricing.
Good stuff.
I like the 327Federal that the 30SC is based on. I hope it finds a market and flourishes.
Nice use of tech to support perceived notions of use.
It won’t find a market. A dude at BassPro told me nobody is buying .30, but still buying 9mm.
It probably will find a market. It's a relatively new round. It took .40 S&W a while to really take off but now it's pretty common.
I have a 327 magnum,👍💯 like the 30 super carry one of my next pistols
Seems odd that forgotten weapons and tfbtv crew all can barely tell the diff or not at all when they shoot 9mm and 30 c
Video editing and Production value is on 🔥 Fire!! Keep up the good work ken and J.!!! Awesome 😎
Thanks broski!! We appreciate the kind words bro!!
I see ammo available. Cheapest non bulk 9 is 40cents 30 is 50. Not too bad.. I doubt I will switch but if I was starting fresh this would be one to consider.
Update Nov. 2022 ... the 30 super carry MA approved has been listed. Could be a 2A christmas if s&w can get some here.
(Original post) Interesting. More interesting for people outside MA. Let me know when I can add the 30sc to my EZ collection. Btw, a S&W authorized stores (non MA) has a 30sc prominently displayed. Feels fine.
I'm guessing this isn't available up there? I thought you guys could have 10 round magazines?
@@ProvectusGroup you may be familiar with the latest congressional firearm laws. We here in MA were the test dumbies for such laws. But, wait, it will get better! Wait for the upcoming federal "approved" firearm legislation. Just ask S&W. How much it costs and how long it takes to get a firearm modified and tested. Once done, it needs to be approved, after a public safety hearing, of course, when ever they get around to it. Let's not forget, if a model is made in more than one color, each color needs to be modified and tested and approved. Same for S&W's standard and performance center models.
Did I mention the governor's appointed position of director of the state's safety division has a new person. He has yet to update (add to) the current state's approved firearms list (last update was Feb 2022 when the SA hellcat [new in 2019] was finally approved). The last 6 year's average updates are 10 months apart and average 7 new listings. Approximately, less than 10% of the firearms on the approved list are presently being manufactured. We don't wonder why S&W are leaving MA, we wonder why it took so long to leave.
I lived in CT in the late 80s and had a license. My understanding was you couldn't have any kind of handgun in MA back then. It used to freak me out cuz it would be so easy to take a wrong turn on a country road at night and wind up in a different state.
I shoot the EZ platform in .380 because of arthritis issues. Kind of curious how it recoils vs .380 ??
More recoil , for sure. I have the 30sc.
@@johnkellmer5133 No significantly more recoil. Lil punchier but nothing jarring. Almost like if .380 had +p
We’re going to be testing the 30 Super Carry vs .380 next. We will post results here. So make sure to subscribe!
To answer the question regarding arthritis I’m very curious just like you. If I had to guess I’d say that 30 Super Carry is very close to the recoil of 380. But with the addition benefits of 30 Super Carry it may be worth a try. If you’re close to Atlanta we’re putting on a free range day on July 16, 2022 www.provectusgroup.org/bookings-checkout/provectus-range-day-07-16-22?referral=service_list_widget
@@BrothaGoodReps that doesn't sound bad. Now I'm still curious - I like the speed and my favorite .380 round is the 100 gr HCFN by Underwood @ an advertised speed of 975 fps.
Hmm. Interesting test. Not sure I'm sold on 30sc just yet due to all the 9mm guns/ammo/mags/gear I currently have. Would be a massive change over. But time will tell, I guess. I did sub tho.
You can literally see the difference in how flat the 30 SC shoots. Slide doing the moonwalk!
Lmao you ain’t lying!
Heard your results comments. Couldn't really see nor understand your mobile phn dark screen.
i wonder what the mantis says if you compare recoil of Federal's 30sc with their HST147. the HST147 is supposed to be 326ftlb of muzzle energy

Great video thank you
Very informative
Thank you !
So, bottomline is that the 30 Super Carry is lighter, faster, and has 30% less recoil than 9mm? But, the elephant in the room wants to know how much more $$ does 30 SC cost? Also, I have never seen a box of 30 Super Carry on the shelf at any gun store yet. Why is that?
Right now pricing is right in line with .380. As popularity builds I’m interested to see what happens with the price. Especially if a decent amount of people switch.
I've seen it at Bass pro a few times... Just a few boxes at a time.
Place 40 minutes from me has a whole wall of 30 SC ammo.
Every Academy in Texas carries 30 Super ammo.
you need to shoot 1,000 rounds of super carry the very limited shooting test would not count as reliability
Great video thnx ,at the end of the Day there only 1 advantage and That is capacity, i hope h&k ,glock, sig sauer, walther, cz, beretta and many others jump on this train
I think you guys are great!
SHEEEEESH!💥💥
Thank you bro for the love!!
Very well done vid. Thumbs UP. Subscribing.
I personally don't see the need for it. What is it doing, or can do, that 9mm can't?
If I purchased this caliber it would be exclusively my out of state carry gun. In case I got into a bad situation and the police seized it. I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.
It’s science
new shooter..."what caliber should i carry for self defense ?"
gun store worker..."try 32 acp"
gun guys.."ARE YOU OUT OF YOU EVER LOVING MIND ?!...you shoot someone with that, the bad guy will just take your gun and beat you with it !"
gun store worker.."how about we make it a Magnum and call it 30 Super Carry ?"
gun guys..."oh...that's cool then"

Thank you very much!

Thank you!!
What does it matter?
You need to have a conclusion statement. "In conclusion we found the 30 super carry to be......"
You guys failed to mention in talking what caliber you're discussing. You said it went from such-and-such to such-and-such which is a 30% reduction but you don't say it went from it 9mmm 230 super Carry or vice a versa. Poorly done...sorry
Ballistic gel & chronographs are not real world
The .30 SC is a .25 ACP+p… the end to the caliber debate is carry a 10mm with Norma spec loads and go about your day.
I wouldn’t be opposed to the .30 SC had Federal waited until Covid was over and resources were plentiful. While many popular calibers suffered because of the lack of raw materials to make them, Federal apparently had plenty for R&D etc. No thanks!
.30SC is more like .32 ACP rimless +P+. No one but a complete dope carries 10mm in a microcompact pistol. Your personal interest in the cartridge is apparently completely irrelevant, since the round is selling like hot cakes.
@@ostiariusalpha almost correct, they should've marketed it as a .327 auto mag.which is the very closest technically round.
@@jocasi57 Uh, no. It uses .313" caliber bullets, so it should be .31 Super Carry if they wanted to be technically correct. The .327 FM is just as technically incorrect of a name as .30 Super Carry is.

@@ostiariusalpha More correct than .38!
Don’t carry nothing smaller than my 9mm👎🏻
Cool video but .30 super carry is DOA. Unfortunately this cartridge was developed during an era where shooters no longer care about ballistics. Either way, why would you trade established effectiveness for a couple of extra rounds? It doesn’t make sense.
