Once I found turkey roasting bags...I never looked back! It works GREAT every time. I really liked the way you stuff it with onions and celery...adding sage and poltry seasoning. I will add that this year for sure!!! I always slather the turkey with butter inside and out...put it in the bag, cut slits in the bag, put in oven and let it cook...works every time! No messy pan the clean up.
I do the same. The cooking bag is the only way to go. I do exactly like Karen with butter and seasonings and celery and onion in cavity. Bag keeps turkey very moist.
I've been cooking turkeys all wrong all these years. I always thought you have to keep basting the turkey every 20 minutes or so which makes it so much more complicated. It seems by covering it with tin foil it was self basting. It looked moist and browned perfectly. Now I'll try your version this Thanksgiving!
No not at all.I did the same way you did.Karen put all that wonderful butter under that skin and I think that what kept it moist.Im going to make it Karen's way for a change. It looked so good.
My grandma and mom always put a stick of butter and a potato in the cavity of the turkey. And they ALWAYS got up early at 3 or 4am to put the turkey in the oven to have it ready by noon. DELICIOUS!!!!!!
Love turkey. I bake my turkey in a baking bag. The turkey stays very moist and browns nicely. Using a bag contains everything and makes cleanup a breeze. Love how you present, very easy to follow. Thank you!
Watching you make that turkey makes me excited for next month. Love watching you and Mr. Jones enjoying the fruits of your labor in that kitchen. Thanks for always sharing your talent with us. 💗
@@KarenJonesFoodFamily Oh yes it was delicious I did not put butter Under the Skin this time though I wet brined it. I like to use fresh thyme and rosemary in my turkey. I stuff it with celery, onion, carrot and an orange. I rub herb butter under the skin and tie it up with butcher twine and put it in the rotisserie oven. It's so moist and flavorful. Yours looks delicious Karen. 🙂❤️
My dad made his dressing with sara lee or any brand dry bread cubes that come in a bag, along with ground giblets and chicken liver cooked. He added chicken broth, celery ,onion and diced small apple and of course seasonings of parsley, sage, thyme s&p, garlic and onion powder. It was truly a Thanksgiving staple.
I made my first turkey last Thanksgiving just like you showed us. It came out perfectly. I hope it wasn’t beginners luck because I’m making another one this year! Thanks for sharing this with us! I’m ready for Thanksgiving!
I love how clean and careful you are with this turkey. I’m a nurse and I’m so afraid of salmonella poisoning. I always use gloves when dealing with poultry.

Great looking turkey, and all the other dishes looked wonderful. I had forgotten about the side dish of English peas. I had that many years ago, and they are truly delicious, as well as easy to prepare. I really enjoy your videos, so glad that I found your channel, God bless.
Looks really good Karen, we put bacon on top of our turkey while cooking and remove it as it gets crispy, and replace as needed so that every one gets crispy bacon as a tease! This makes a great gravy.
Hello Karen I just , seen your video for the first time this morning, and I just absolutely love you . The turkey looks delicious. And your kitchen is so perfectly decorated. I'll be continuing watching your video's
Years ago I gave up on cooking a whole turkey. Now I cut it into pieces pat dry, season and cook in a deep cookie sheet. Cook about half way with skin side down, butter and seasonings packed on, then turn it skin side up, brush with butter in the pan to finish. Pieces come out much moister and are easier to cut than when you do a whole bird. I never stuffed a turkey anyway so baking it on the side is no problem
We have always made our turkey sauce Ms. Karen. We marinade it for a few days in tomato sauce, orange juice, one beer, onions, and lots of spices. It’s so good.

I think it's such a good idea to show how you do everything, for maybe some viewers who have not made thier own Thanksgiving Turkey. I also Season my butter, I just think it gives more depth of flavour. I also add Orange slices , as well onion slices and a bit of celery ...and half a stick of butter, lol. Thank you so much. Your ideas sound delicious. I don't like to stuff the turkey either. I usually have clear gloves, I prefer them for looks. Thank you for being in my kitchen with me. ❤️😋
I’ve started wearing gloves to keep all the goop from getting under my fingernails. I do that with meatloaf and even biscuits sometimes. I cook my turkey whole, basted with seasoned butter and covered in foil until the last 45 minutes. I uncover it to let it brown good. I cook mine at 325 for 15 minutes per pound. Same with my ham. This looks so yummy. I’m fixing the ham this year, my son ordered a wild turkey from D’Artagnan Foods. They have the best duck breast and Guinea legs too. Expensive but once a year is worth it. You enjoy your scrumptious looking turkey. Yum!! ♥️
I cook my turkey the same way butter under the skin but I put a stick of butter in cavity too makes delicious gravy..and I cover with a foil Tent ..that's the way my mama taught me 😇❤ everything looked delicious 😋

We're not crazy about turkey, especially leftover turkey and there's only 2 of us so it's a waste to cook a whole turkey. I have bought a small breast and cooked it in the Air Fryer. It turned out great and didn't take long at all to cook. I like deep-fried turkey with crispy skin.
So very “thankful” that I found your channel Karen! 🥰. I enjoy it so much. Everything looked so delicious! You and Mr. Jones are so cute. You remind me of my parents so much. 💜. Love it when Mr. Jones pops in the video. 😊. I have my Mom’s Cranberry Apple recipe that I bet you both would like. It’s a must have at our Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. 💜
Thank you Karen for this delicious, baked turkey recipe! I think sage and poultry seasonings marry very well together; and I like how you start working in the center of the bird first. Very interesting also is the fact that you essentially apply butter under the skin (top) which allows it to melt throughout. And the stuffing; I assumed you would have to sew the turkey closed, but no. So many wonderful, easy ideas here to try. Really easier than I anticipated! Blessings.
Karen, I bake m6 turkey like you do, but I put slices of bacon on my turkey, so it's covered with more flavor! It's delicious! I make a sourdough dressing. It's made with extra sourdough bread large uncut loaf of bread, melted butter, celery, onion and canned black medium olives and seasoning. My husband, Joe makes a delicious gravy! Yummers now I can't wait for Thanksgiving, so good! Hugs, Suzy
The peas are so simple. Just drain a can of English peas. Pour into a microwave safe dish or a pot for the top of the stove. Add 1 can mushroom soup. Heat and enjoy! ❤️
We obviously don't celebrate Thanksgiving in Ireland since its a holiday unique to North America, so I associate Turkey with Christmas. Have you ever tried roast potatoes? In Ireland and Great Britain, we pre-boil the potatoes in boiling salted water, not to cook them, as they only stay in the water about 10 mins. We cut the potatoes in larger chunks. After 10 mins, drain your potatoes and in the pot they cooked, place the lid on and move the potatoes about inside the pot, so they get a bit smashed on the outside, they'll still be uncooked and firm. But on a roasting pan, using some duck or goose fat that you've been heating up on the roasting pan inside the oven, take the potatoes you par-boiled and spread them over the roasting pan and roast in the oven until fork tender. They will be crispy and golden on the outside and fluffy inside and they pair great with roast meat and gravy.
That turkey looked so good. Since my mom passed away, I am in charge now of doing the turkey and dressing for the family. It makes me nervous because I am not very confident of it tasting as good as hers. Thank you for showing us how you bake yours. Do you use a certain brand of poultry seasoning?

I'm sure your turkey will be delicious 😋. I love pecan pie but I also like pumpkin. My hubby favorite is Egg Custard. Have you ever had that? I have a video on it already. Yumm 😋
@@KarenJonesFoodFamily Yes! My mama made the best egg custard pie. I never attempted one but I might now...lol. Thank you for making me a better cook and it's so nice to share memories of our loved ones through food. We all appreciate you so much on here : )
I have had such wonderful memories come back to me whole cooking. It takes you back home. I just hope my kids have those kind of memories when they get my age. ❤️
We have fried our Turkey, which is yummy, but lately I’ve been doing in the oven. My husband, in charge of frying, brings in the Turkey round about 8pm while all my side dishes are cold.
I also stuff my turkey with a lemon cut in half and an orange cut into quarter’s along with the onion and celery. Just a question…… why do we think turkey’s are boy’s? Never thought about that before. Love your channel.
That is a good thought. I guess just habit. I had the question one time, why do we call our cars/trucks "she"? I thought about lemon and orange. Maybe I will try that next time. 🧡😋
Hi Karen. In watching this video (I am 78 yrs. old), I remember my mother cooking HUGE turkeys for a large family dinner. She (also myself and my sisters) always folded the wings down under the turkey while cooking. She always said it kept them from burning and she/we also stuffed our turkeys. I don't know why this day and age people say stuffing a turkey is "unsafe". I've always stuffed my turkeys like our mother and nobody ever got sick. Wonder why that came out as a ruling? Do you know? Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
I don't stuff with dressing, I do that on the side, but I believe it's not recommended due to time and temp. It's takes a while to get cooked all the way through to the stuffing. I may be wrong but that's what I've always heard. Happy Thanksgiving ❤️❤️
Your turkey looks so delicious! I think there is a difference in poultry seasoning. What brand do you like and use? Also, I didn’t hear you say what kind of broth you poured in your pan. I want to try to do mine this way this year.
Once I found turkey roasting bags...I never looked back! It works GREAT every time. I really liked the way you stuff it with onions and celery...adding sage and poltry seasoning. Thank you!
Did you cook it with the plastic clip on the legs?
Yes. It doesn't hurt it. ❤️😋
I am guilty of leaving that thing in also Karen...lol. But, your turkey looks really tasty and I'm gonna have to steal your recipe. Oh and on my thanksgiving table is pumpkin pie....my fav. Hubby's is pecan....yep, there is always one of those also. Thank you for sharing this....can't wait to try it. Hope it turns out as pretty as yours did. Happy Thanksgiving to you and Mr. Karen : )
Shame on him 🤣 I like it fried as well. My youngest son is the turkey fryer. 😉❤️
Hey I love ❤️ leftovers...lol
Especially Thanksgiving leftovers 😋

Karen how do you fix your gravy?
Easy easy. I'm linking a video for my dressing but it also has the gravy on it. Thank you for watching ❤️

How many pounds was that turkey? You might have said
It was 12 pounds. And delicious 😋
Your turkey looks so delicious! I think there is a difference in poultry seasoning. What brand do you like and use? Also, I didn’t hear you say what kind of broth you poured in your pan. I want to try to do mine this way this year.
I usually use Spice Island seasoning. If I'm not using homemade broth I'll use Swanson or Sam's brand is very good also. ❤️
Are you a butterball buyer and do you buy hen or tom turkeys?
I'm not picky on brand but I don't know if it's a tom or a hen. How do you tell?
@@KarenJonesFoodFamily I think the hen is broader and has more meat on it.
I'll have to wstch for that. Thsnk you. ❤️
