I've seen Godzilla Minus One 15 times. I love this movie, if i weren't traveling i'd go more. I miss the dramatic tension on subsequent watches but it's definitely one of my favorite movies. My theater's trailer time is closer 10-15 minutes
I’ve seen the film 4 times!!! My new record for any film in theaters! And, I’ll actually be seeing it with my family over the holidays! I’m so happy, not only is this my dream Godzilla film, but is achieving numbers and acclaim I never thought would happen!
I've seen it 7 times. Now, most of those, the theater wasn't too busy. But the exception was that 7th time. Despite it being the third weekend, and despite going to see it in Butt-Fuck Middle of Nowhere, Texass, the theater I saw it in on that viewing was packed. Like, it was almost completely sold by the time I got there to buy my ticket. Really incredible that a Japanese movie only available in subtitles can do that.
I've only seen it once, the theater actually playing it in my area is 50 minutes away. However Japan has released a black & white version of the film for theatrical release? I'd go in a heartbeat! I'm a long time Goji fan, my boyfriend went with me. He'll tolerate Godzilla for the most part, but has never watched a Japanese kaiju film with me for the full runtime. This man's eyes were glued to the theater screen the entire time, and he didn't even complain about subtitles! This film is so darn good that my easily bored boyfriend was invested! Thank you Toho!
I'll say this. If Minus One is going to be the basis for future movies, I'd love that. Compelling human characters, monsters being evil beasts and representations of a character's grief sounds fantastic.
@justagundam..... compelling human characters , is that really what most people want in a "Godzilla" movie ??? Yeah it was fine in this case but thats not why I went to see this movie .......
@williamwilkinson6665 Yes. There's gotta be some amount of human protagonists, unless Godzilla starts talking like a cartoon dog. If they are compelling, it adds more stakes to the outcome, and makes it more enjoyable when the big G isn't on screen.
@@Puzzles-Pins ....of course there are always gonna be humans in Godzilla movies and nobody wants talking monsters but i just find it amusing and ironic that 70 years and 34 movies in to the franchise and only now is getting critical praise and it because of the "human" characters ??? for me i wanted to see the movie months before it came out , i avoided any spoilers of reviews so i didn't go see if based on the hype of the "HUMAN" characters..... if the acting was horrible i would have still liked it for the great Godzilla scenes ........
I’ve seen it four times. Twice in imax, once in Dolby cinema and once in a normal theater. Twice I saw it with family, and twice I went just by myself. I’m the big Godzilla fan in my family so when I went with them I spent a lot of the film checking their reactions and seeing if they enjoyed it. I went by myself just to enjoy it without any worries about others and free to focus on the film. This is literally the Godzilla film of my dreams. I’ve been hoping for over twenty years they would do a retelling of the first film taking place back in the original time period of the 40s/50s and that it would really nail the human toll Godzilla takes. Even then this film shocked me, not just how perfectly it fit my hopes but that it even surpassed them. Even seeing it four times the characters still get me tearing up every time. I may see it a fifth time this weekend with a friend who has only ever seen the 1954 movie.
Watching the reactions is super fun. Keep spreading that godzilla bug around. Hopefully others have opportunity to be infected like we are. Lol. It's just a great time to be a Gfan. And ya....MINUS ONE is a 10.
According to the site Box Office Mojo, Godzilla Minus One is at $70 million worldwide so far...and counting. Come on $100 million worldwide. C'mon you can do it Goji!! 👑😁
Seen it once so far. I’m gonna see it again tomorrow with a friend, he’s never seen anything Godzilla other than the 2014 and 2017 film. I think he’s gonna be in for a shock.
Been twice in Imax and loved the experience. My first viewing was highly emotional. So having that second showing really allowed me to explore the charector of Koichi and find some of the more subtle details around the movie.
I've been twice. Loved the second showing more than the first. I think this movie gets better the more you see it. I'm attempting to get multiple of my coworkers to see it as a group so I look forward to having more people to talk to about it. From what I recently read, Toho re-released a black-and-white version in Japan, and oh my goodness, I want to see that so much. Take my money!
I've seen it four times and it's true, the film improves with rewatches. I still get emotional with the characters and the Godzilla scenes still feel tense. It's so well made, each time I notice more and more details I missed or little character interactions that humanize everything.
I have seen Minus One only one time in theaters but do wish to see it again. At this time, it is still playing in theaters near me. As an aside, I received my Godzilla Minus One dorsal plate promo keychain in the mail today! I'm super excited to finally have it!
I've had friends that I would never expect, coming up to me and asking me about this movie, they've heard so many good things about it. People that I would never imagine being interested in a Godzilla or Kaiju movie.
3 times so far. Planning a 4th viewing in cinemas in Australia that is. Hope a sequel happens. Seeing it in black and white would be interesting. Love this film a lot. It's definitely my favourite of the year. Would be amazing if it won the VFX award in the States. I'm not sure how I feel about it being dubbed, Shin hasn't last I checked. Can't wait to see it again and watch it at home
I saw it again today (12-21) they moved it to a smaller theater but that's okay. It's STILL here! so I am happy with that. They had multiple showings today. I think I enjoyed it better the second time. I did hear about Godzilla minus color and really really want to see it!!! Sounds amazing!!
Finally getting to see it this weekend. Haven't done spoilers, but I have to say it's really amazing to see a Godzilla film get this level of acclaim in my life time. It just makes me happy.
I went on opening night; there weren’t that many people there. But we were all bawling and cheering out loud by the end. I was almost appalled by how amazing good this movie was - just a stank-face of astonishment that I was comparing a Godzilla movie to the classics of Japanese cinema generally.
I’m so freaking excited about the success of Godzilla minus 1 I would love to see a black and white version of this movie, really take me back to 1954 Godzilla
Hi I am in the Japanese film industry and was in N America before that. Wages are about half that of the US but living costs are way lower. So you could say that Godzilla would cost 25-30 million in the US
6:05 Godzilla Minus One originally had only a four day runtime in VERY few selected cinemas. However, even before the four days were over, it got exstended to atleast another week and played in almost every bigger city. I went to see it three times since Decembre 1st and most bigger cinemas had a two week runtime. I also think that this week there are also very very few cinemas in cities like Berlin, which still play it once this week, but otherwise the runtime is mainly over. There is a website listing all the German cinemas, which played it as well as their websites, though I can't post it here on UA-cam or else my comment will get taken down again. PS: If they do a sequel, I hope they're gonna name it Godzilla Zero, because not only would it make chronologically more sense, but it would also reflect how Japan and Godzilla are even now.
Straight up not a major Godzilla fan but minus -1 is movie of year hands down .. oscars are you paying attention.. i hope so .. amazing and ingrossing movie . Just WOW!!! No bullshit go see it
Great reporting man! Such amazing news! Never in my history of being a fan did I ever expect success for Goji like this! I really hope that a -2 is on the way
It’s always good to see an another video from Dman 1954 talking about more updates on Godzilla -1.0. Thank you Dman for continuing giving us more updates & I look forward seeing minus one for my 3 time. Quick question Dman 1954, will you make another video about Godzilla -1.0 but only this time potential sequel!? I would love to hear your thoughts on this. The best Godzilla youTuber of all time! ❤
I just saw it for the second time; this time I took my offspring, who hadn't seen it yet. I did a lot of sideways glancing to check reactions and they were all I could have hoped for. We had a great and lengthy discussion afterward that extended through dinner. I'm kind of proud my G-fandom has extended to another generation, though they don't have much patience with the sillier Showa-type films. This one got them sniffly. Success!
Love these stories of generations of friends and family enjoy the film. Thanks for writing in. Not the same thing, but it sure was a thrill seeing my wife so captivated by a Godzilla film. Minus One in so many ways was such an early Christmas gift to G-fans and fandom in general.
Same here, I went the first time with my siblings and mom. She doesn't like Godzilla movies in general but she loved this film and was ready to see it a second time immediately. We got my dad to go the second time and he had scoffed at first when we asked if he wanted to see it. He changed his tune after the movie finished, though he still joked that it was missing baby Godzilla. I watched him throughout the film (he's older so he falls asleep a lot during movies) he never nodded off even once. That is the highest praise for the film in my opinion lol
I seen Godzilla minus one last weekend and I have to say without doubt one of the beat Godzills movies of all time. Let aline best movie this year . The story, the characters , the acting , the special effects i mean you couldn't ask for a better original Godzilla movie . Don't get me wrong, I love the monsterverse and legendarys Godzilla is my favorite looking godzilla , bit as far as story and almost remake like of the original Godzilla .... The film is still running in Germany it has been running since its opening. Peppermint anime who is doing the distribution in Germany, Austria and Switzerland was quick with the extentions. We have dubbing and subbing both in the theatres
I live in Poland, I saw Godzilla twice. At the moment, the box office is 79.5 million. I am very happy with the success of this film because I think it is the No. 1 Godzilla film.
Once at the red carpet, twice at an imax, twice at a regular format, once at a 4DX and once at a screen X. Everytime of which I brought a friend or family member to see it.
So far I've only seen Godzilla -1 in theaters once but I'm planning to see it again on Christmas Day plus I have a friend who apparently has seen the movie at least six times in theaters
It shocked me. I was gonna watch it anyway, but I'm glad I managed to show this movie here in Italy to people who had never even watched a single Godzilla movie before. Too bad it only got released for a week, and that most people don't even try to give the franchise a chance because of their bias. I wish more people were attracted, just like many went to watch Wonka EVEN if they are not musical fans.
Been three times, hubby twice. introduced three others to it, all of whom loved it. Hoping the rumored black and white version rereleases in the imax near me cuz I missed it the first time and will DEFINITELY go again if that’s the case
@@DMan1954 I just watched a video where they said that, due to contractual obligations, it won’t be releasing in the states, at least not in 2024. I’ll wait till 2025 if I have to, I just hope they release it here on the premium screens at some point 😅
I went once at the Warren IMAX theater and I have been planning on going again. This Movie has been Doing Well because of the Fans and Word of Mouth. People are Hungry for a Movie Without ( In the Words of Critical Drinker) The Message. A Movie with a Real Story.
Don't mean to offend but I can't stand movies being dubbed into American, it always ruins the performance. I'm glad that it's in its original language and I'm glad that there are Americans out there who can read subtitles. It's an amazing movie experience and I want to go and see it again. It was hard for me to book a screening as most good seats were all taken through out the weekend.
I've seen the movie twice now and will try to go see it a third time this Sunday. It'll probably be the last one since I've had Christmas shopping to do as well and my account is a bit drained.
You said Mozambique and Zambia so incorrectly, it hurt. Anyway, I saw it twice. Once by myself and once with my mother. Seeing The Boy and the Heron subbed (all my local theater was offering for some reason) actually convinced her she can watch a movie with subtitles no problem.
4X with my son. Def our favorite G film. So much better than the crap Hollywood is pushing lately. Still love the Monsterverse but -1 is a masterpiece.
Sweet D man I am glad this movie is doing so well it shows that good work is still appreciated and thank you for your work and your Tim in keeping the fires 🔥 burning way to go bro😎
They just overall did a good job. Saw this the first day out. Godzilla was a beast. Passed off at the world lol. I'm sure he will do the next one with even more destruction. Can't wait
Personally, I would love to see a dub version in the theaters. The acting is very good, and I think, reading the subtitles to see what was happening, and what they were saying, somewhat took away that experience.
I watched godzilla minus one in germany, two days ago. So I found it weird, that the movie doesn‘t show up at the box office for that time. Can somebody explain?
Maybe the numbers aren’t being reported in real-time. We might have to wait for the box office run to complete to see updated numbers, because all the tracking sites only report the first 4 days.
One of the very best things about "Minus One" are the Japanese actors! With a dubbed version, you lose two thirds of the acting! I don't see myself ever watching an English dubbed version after experiencing "Godzilla Minus 1.0" in Japanese!
@@DMan1954 I definitely won't. I'll be all over the Japanese language version! I'm basically letting folks know that if they want to appreciate the critically acclaimed acting, then they should hang in there with the subtitles.
2:38 It's not that the pay rates in Japan are that catastrophically low. It's a mix of factors. The industry standard pay is lower but not as much, this is because the living cost is also much lower in Japan, so they earn less and pay less. Effectively, it's still lower, but not as much as it would seem from a Western perspective. This means accounting for inflation, ¥/$ conversion, and standard pay rates: If the movie cost 15 million in Japan, it would've cost approximately 35 million. So they still put the big Disney blockbusters to shame. (By the way, I'm not trying to say it should've been that little, just saying that it's extremely impressive.)
I JUST WATCHED GODZILLA MINUS ONE IN 4DX WITH MY DAUGHTER WHO HATES "WAR TIME MOVIES" AND EVEN SHE GAVE THE MOVIE A 9 OUT OF 10!! I THINK IT'S THE BEST MOVIE THIS YEAR AND ONE OF THE TOP 5 KAIJU FILMS OF ALL TIME!
I would definitely go to theaters for a black and white version. i loved this movie. this was the one that finally topped GMK on my favorite kaiju movie list.
3 times. Going again next week. Maybe another even. I hope beyond all hope that the Godzilla -1.0/C makes it's way to the U.S. Even as a one-day "Fathom Event".
Hollywood won’t ever learn The studios think spending huge money leads to bigger box office returns The problem is that the higher budgets also mean more executives level interference and meddling. They want a solid return for a that money spent. That leads to taking less risks, hours of focus groups, shoots and reshoots , etc The end result ? Bland derivative lifeless boring slop I hope Dune 2 is good
I've watched this movie only once as of right now because it released pretty late where I'm at, but I'll be seeing it at least 2 more times before it's out of thaters. Fantastic movie.
Ive seen it twice. I would love to go see it every weekend until its no longer in theaters but thats not gonna happen. I cant wait to have it on physical. I hope the black and white edition is added and id love a steelbook
I've seen it 5 times' should they re-release it in Black & White over here in North America then I'm willing to see it one more time! I'm pretty sure a sequel will happen at this point now' there are talks of a late 2025 release but nothing confirmed at this point in time. Going by either some of the clues in the film or by popularity from everyone' these seem to be the top three monsters so far in which any one of them could show up in the sequel: 1.Anguirus 2.Biollante 3.Hedorah
When you said the 15 mil budget was inaccurate I thought you would say it's higher. But you saying it cost less. I guess outside the U S. A hammer don't cost $200. Well FUQN done. To the producer that passed away I don't want to but her his name in txt or speech!! Well Done sir. I watched it 3 weeks after release and Very rarely I will see it again. I only watch movies multiple times at home. But, I will be back in the theater this week!!
It's been difficult for me to go to the movies a lot lately because of viruses and general life craziness, so I've only seen it once, but I'm a bit curious about the impending Minus Color release.
I watched it three times myself. Then I bought tickets for my sister and two other friends just to force them into the theater to enjoy this great movie.

Seen it four times. But went to see Wonka today and while watching it quickly realized, D$#!, I could have seen G-1 again!
I believe I’ve seen this film 5 times in theaters and I regret NOTHING
Lets hope all these good reviews mean more and more Godzilla movies from both Toho and Legendary and also lets hope Gamera gets going again as well!!
I heard that the Director of this film is planning a sequel, so I'm looking forward to this new Golden Age of Godzilla.
“Planning.” Things are still in early development and there is no green light yet.
Once at the red carpet, twice at an imax, twice at a regular format, once at a 4DX and once at a screen X. Everytime of which I brought a friend or family member to see it.
I am poor as hell, but I have managed to see it 3 times in IMAX
So far I've only seen Godzilla -1 in theaters once but I'm planning to see it again on Christmas Day plus I have a friend who apparently has seen the movie at least six times in theaters
Thank you for a great video. I hope it passes way over 100 million.
Thanks!
I’ve seen 4 times now, the fan event screening, opening day with my friends, the following Tuesday with my brother and then with my mother.
Godzilla Minus One needs to be nominated for Best Picture Academy Award. Best movie of 2023.
Been three times, hubby twice. introduced three others to it, all of whom loved it. Hoping the rumored black and white version rereleases in the imax near me cuz I missed it the first time and will DEFINITELY go again if that’s the case
The black and white cut isn’t a rumor, but it’s also got no official word on an international release
Seen Godzilla: Minus One four (4) times so far!
Seen -1.0 5 times so far, plan to see it more
Best movie of the year. Hell, it's the best movie I've seen in several years.
I’ve even 4 times - standard, IMAX, and two 4DX. 4DX was amazing. What a ride!
I‘m jealous😅
Only 2D in my area but still amazinggg i can‘t even imagine how it was in IMAX or 4DX
ive been twice which is a first for me, ive never seen a movie multiple times in cinemas
I just checked my local theater times and they are still showing the film after January 4th. That means i can plan to see it again!
Still love the Monsterverse but -1 is a masterpiece.
ive seen minus 1 once but everyones rave reviews keep it fresh in the mind
I've only been once, but funny I just got my brother convinced that he and his son need to go and I'll tag along.😂🤣 I love this badass movie 🍿🎥‼️
I saw a it 4 times. Wish I could see it twice as much.
Great box office updates! Subscribed (P.S: I’ve seen it four times now 😅)
Sweet D man I am glad this movie is doing so well it shows that good work is still appreciated and thank you for your work and your Tim in keeping the fires 🔥 burning way to go bro😎
i´ve seen minus one three times! And will soon see it a fourth time!
I’ve seen this movie 3 times so far
I’ve seen it 8 times with a 9th and 10th viewing coming soon
They just overall did a good job. Saw this the first day out. Godzilla was a beast. Passed off at the world lol. I'm sure he will do the next one with even more destruction. Can't wait
Personally, I would love to see a dub version in the theaters. The acting is very good, and I think, reading the subtitles to see what was happening, and what they were saying, somewhat took away that experience.
Dubs only work in anime, Kung Pow! Enter The Fist, and Most Extreme Elimination Challenge.
Hard disagree. A good dub can be super valuable in opening the film to more viewers and helping people appreciate the visuals of the film.
Disagree. Subtitles let you pick up the intended emotion and inflection. You lose a lot with a dub.
I watched godzilla minus one in germany, two
days ago. So I found it weird, that the movie doesn‘t show up at the box office for that time. Can somebody explain?
Maybe the numbers aren’t being reported in real-time. We might have to wait for the box office run to complete to see updated numbers, because all the tracking sites only report the first 4 days.
Hopefully future Godzilla, Gamera and Kaiju films continue the quality of Minus One.
I have watched this movie 4 times now. I love this movie and I am thinking about going to watch it again 🤓
One of the very best things about "Minus One" are the Japanese actors! With a dubbed version, you lose two thirds of the acting! I don't see myself ever watching an English dubbed version after experiencing "Godzilla Minus 1.0" in Japanese!
Then don’t watch it if they make one. lol
Would love to see you do a tier list for all the Godzilla/Kaiju films and shows ranging from S Tier to F tier
Hmmm. Maybe someday!
I enjoyed this move so much. Haven't been to the cinema since Tenet and this one sure was worth watching!
Hollywood won’t ever learn
The studios think spending huge money leads to bigger box office returns
The problem is that the higher budgets also mean more executives level interference and meddling. They want a solid return for a that money spent. That leads to taking less risks, hours of focus groups, shoots and reshoots , etc
The end result ? Bland derivative lifeless boring slop
I hope Dune 2 is good
B&W release?! Way cool.
Why did New Zealand get minus one early? We had it on December 1st!
I would love to see this movie again if I had some tickets I've been a Godzilla fan ever since it started
I saw it twice! I loved it even more, the second time!
As a fan of subbed anime, I enjoyed the subtitled version of G-1.
I've seen it 5 times' should they re-release it in Black & White over here in North America then I'm willing to see it one more time! I'm pretty sure a sequel will happen at this point now' there are talks of a late 2025 release but nothing confirmed at this point in time.
Going by either some of the clues in the film or by popularity from everyone' these seem to be the top three monsters so far in which any one of them could show up in the sequel:
1.Anguirus
2.Biollante
3.Hedorah
When you said the 15 mil budget was inaccurate I thought you would say it's higher. But you saying it cost less. I guess outside the U S. A hammer don't cost $200. Well FUQN done. To the producer that passed away I don't want to but her his name in txt or speech!! Well Done sir. I watched it 3 weeks after release and Very rarely I will see it again. I only watch movies multiple times at home. But, I will be back in the theater this week!!
saw it four times!
I've seen Minus 1 three times. I hope the Godzilla Minus 1 sequel is them doing more classic Kaijus in their own movie, like Rodan or Mothra.
Went for the 3rd time last night.
It hasn't gotten boring.
