When Dan talks about looking at symptoms "through a microscope." I literally BOUGHT A MICROSCOPE b/c doctors couldn't make up their minds if I had an infection (which is diagnosed by looking at slides under a microscope). I lol'd when he said that. I think I'll use my microscope to look at cool things like water bears now haha

I proved it, before ny appointment knees ok, as soon as it was time to go there, knee flared! Like my body was trying its best to stop me attending. When I feel actual danger, Long Covid symptoms such as fatigue, needle-like pain and dizziness flare up immediately.
When the situation calms down, the symptoms slowly subside again.
So this is clearly a perceived danger phenomenon.
That is why the symptoms are the wrong address, instead the situation must be calmed down.
The remaining mild symptoms tell me: Live less stressfully :)

I'd personally drop the "long COVID" label. We use labels because we feel people listen. It was made up my medical industry. Our bodies heal. Post viral is or was up to two months afterwards. Also lots had something else out in their bodies. Pharma covered. My opinion

Same happens with me. Either the situation must be calmed down if the burden seems too big - or when we can - calm our inner feeling towards the existing situation. That has worked for me like magic when the burden doesn't feel all too big. Healing is often about a balance between avoiding what feels too much and dealing innerly with what feels just a bit too much.

With my back, I keep trying to find the pattern of what positions and movements I'm doing that result in sudden stabbing back pain. So far, I can't find a consistent pattern. So, I live in fear of it suddenly striking me down to my knees out of no where.
With my ptsd/agoraphobia, I avoid things that my mind associates with panic attacks because I feel in danger during those episodes.
I love to hear these messages because it reminds me that problem solving is not a good prevailing perspective for helping me to cope with these situations. After awhile, it creates a lot of ruminating and fear of making a mistake.

The pain assessment was most helpful for me, Dan. The FIT assessment left a lot of wiggle room especially when it came to plantar fasciitis. The symptoms with PF, go away and come back at predictable times, and it can be in both feet, etc. Basically every FIT question for my foot issue was answered by “well maybe, but that’s also indicative of plantar fasciitis so I’m not sure.” Now
Because I have a TON of other issues, I can weigh my PF in with those and have much more evidence that this is all TMS. I love and have grown a lot from your work. Just wanted to give you a different perspective on the FIT assessment. Cheers!

Took me three days of fasting and sleeping for bloating stomach and acid reflux to calm down - my stomach is still tense but the discomfort and pain subsided except when I have to bend down and clean the apartment. I'm really sick of this life - I established that I have TMS a year ago today and I feel like I'm still living so small due to the discomfort and pain. I have managed to get out of the house more and go to the beach which I could not do a year ago but I am sick of walking around like an old lady - when I see a 85 year old jog by smiling and waving at me with a skip in their step leaving me in the dust - I feel so defeated.

I'm not living. I'm surviving. I read Dr Sarno's book , an attorney i worked with attended his workshops. The book didn't help. Years later, i spoke with Dr. Sarno by telephone, he told me to reread the book. I was disillusioned. A few years later, still suffering with debilitating pain, i could only get an appointment with the doctor trained by dr. Sarno. The doctor was arrogant. Read me the riot act. Had a Napoleon complex. I paid. Left extremely upset.

It seems like once the brain accepts that one symptom is not dangerous, and you don't freak out about it anymore, it likes to run a "check" on you and see what happens if it puts out another different one...and that can really keep you stuck in this confusing cycle of chasing one thing after the next...unless you are aware that that's what is happening. I think of it as someone standing in one area waving their arms and yelling "hey, look over here" and you notice, but after a few times your like "yeah there's nothing important there, I don't care" and you just kind let it go, so then they move to a different area and starting waving their arms and shouting to see of they can get your attention again... and that's as harmless as it is too, someone standing there waving their arms and shouting, but they aren't hurting anything and they aren't alerting you to any actual danger. So it's fine if you let them continue and do nothing about it. Nothing bad will happen. And they will get tired of it and go away. 😊

Love your work generally but the surveys/assessments are such utter nonsense. Literally every real disease/physiological health condition will score in the lines of it being TMS going by the assesments. All health issues change and fluctuate, sometimes for no apparent reasons, someone's dependent on the day, where you are, how stressed you are, if you alone or around other people, etc etc etc. That doesn't mean it's TMS. I'd love it if it were that simple.
