The one thing I've always enjoyed about the Story Modes (Mostly LBP1's) is how everything is created in-engine. Besides aces and getting all the collectibles, part of the replay value is just seeing how much you can screw with the levels' foundations.
They’re all made in-engine, The difference with LBP1 is that they were fine with showing things to you. They left their pistons and bolts visible to the player (and of course complex logic didn’t exist yet to handle it instead) so it’s a lot easier to understand how everything was put together
15:00 the funny part about this is that the logic you see here controls the 4x area. If you manage to land on it and move certain sensors, you can trigger the completion of the 4x area with only one player.
I managed that without getting out of bounds. Four controllers and some very precise finger twisting. I remember it taking like 10 minutes or so to get it exactly right lol.
@@Darkshock25 which spot? Now that you mention it, getting to the area to begin with requires the 4 button elevator right? I believe what I did was just continuously switching ports to spawn 4 players and cycle through them so that they don't disconnect. I guess a more accurate description would be one controller, not one player.
I find it interesting that most story levels have ways to get out of bounds, but a significant portion of the minigames do not. Probably because the story levels are much bigger, and therefore have more potential places to get out of bounds.
Huge respect for how high quality your editing is. LBP sees so little video content today at all, let alone such creative challenges with such sleek presentation.
I find it really cool how there are little random things you can find out of bounds (like the pistons, random stickers, and even logic). Great video as always!
I remember toying with this idea and thinking about making a video about it about a year ago. I'm glad you carried on what I didn't end up doing, always wanted to see a video on this!
I remember sometime in 2020 I was messing around in copyable variants of the story levels out of sheer boredom, I found out the Darkness uses the blank background instead of the Wedding, and I found that kinda interesting. Not that it matters anyway because the level is too dark to notice any of the background features though
One time I accidently glitched out of the introduction of lbp 3 because I bovines and Newton didn’t catch me, the guy who fell down the hill was there, lol.
The 1st Wilderness minigame's unused sticker is actually an early design for the Collector, and was used later in Little Big Planet Karting as one of the last stickers you collect during the final boss. I didn't know it was actually used somewhat in the release of the first game!
Fantastic work! It's absolutely crazy to still see high quality edited LBP 1 and 2 videos so many years later. I look forward to seeing what else you will make a video on! :)
Ah, it was so nice to see some modern LBP content. I sorely miss LBP and especially LBP2. I miss just being a kid and coming home from school to boot up my PS3 and play this amazing game with friends. Ugh 😔

Hi!! After having this video come onto my homepage, I felt the sudden urge to revisit my childhood game and I'VE BEEN PLAYING IT EVER SINCE. However, it's frustrated me seeing just how many collectables are locked behind 2 player or 4 player challenges. I have, however, found ways around some of them, like especially the crane in the construction site- if I swing it back and forth enough, I can jump onto the platform and onto the top of the crane, getting all the goodies without solving it the intended way. I was wondering if maybe making a challenge video of trying to win as many 2p and 4p challenges in single player would make for a good video? I would definitely watch it!!! Regardless, your LBP videos are soooo fun and I can't wait to see what other videos you make next!!
17:37 btw, there's another "secret" sticker, it being the Hammer and sickle one that appear in the beginning of the 1st wilderness level. I was a smart fella, so I even managed to transmit it to lbp2 and lbp3 by attaching it to my character. I was flexing so hard showing it to my friends :D
great video, Im very greatful that you find a way to make content for one of my favorite games that I can enjoy 13 years after I played it for the first time.
HYPERFIED MENTION!! 🤩🤩 I’m kinda surprised for once that you CAN’T get out of bounds for all LBP1 levels. I bet that for LBP3 though, every level is able to get out of bounds, even without boost boot flying. Wicked video like always!
17:37 ive recently gone though trying to get 100% on my PS3 on both games (since this isnt the one from my childhood) and with it, i wanted to also have all the unobtainable stickers. most of them are just costume screenshots at the beginning of the world, but ive also found a dancer girl in the temples and now this one too! i wonder if there's somewhere on the net that documents all of them but i actually havent looked.
@@BudDinktrap you might not be able to obtain them for your inventory, but you can put them onto sackboy and then onto your moon. so its cool bragging rights i think.
I remember as a kid getting out of bounds in the Meerkat Kingdom, on accident. Can't really remember how though. I think I ended up in one of the decorative holes in the background wall, walked to one side, and fell off the level. First time I had to hold retry outside the tutorial.
My personal guess as to why pistons are at the bottom of those random levels is just that they accidentally got broken off from the level at some point and nobody decided to look down since there wasn't actual level down there, and players weren't intended to get there.
Hey just wanted to say that if memory serves me right you can pull the scoreboard down through the gas in Wheel of Misfortune at 12:25. It's not glued down so you just need an extra player to grab it by the lamp and pull, and then you can respawn down under the gas
You should really do this challenge with the GOTY levels too; Cereal Isle in particular has an insanely easy out of bounds method that I did all the time accidentally when I was little
it could be possible to get out in tie skipping by getting hit with the tie in a very specific way i did manage to launch back out of the minigame area using it once by accident
I miss the week one shirt... Gutted I missed it, got every single other one bar that. Played since day one but the ol man wouldn't buy it for me xD regardless of how much chores I offered to do
this happened to me in lbp psvita's haunted mansion (forgot the name dont remember cleary) in the first level. so when otis comes in and breaks a piece of the mansion off, when the piece is falling down, jump up and you should drop all the way to the bottom of the level
@@-_ITS_-_ME_- Technically they can all be aced by using despawns, but the only other one that can be done without that is Tie Skipping, which isn't faster than dying.
I've accidentally glitched out of bounds in the introduction w/ newton where an ice cube pushed me out! well, you can get oob (Out of bounds) in lbp 3!
If you can clip out of bounds using the snake, im assuming there must be a few frames where sackboys collision/damage is off before hitting the snake that allows him to get out. Otherwise there must be a way with the carts in the mine.
Until 2021 the only way to complete Elephant Temple during a 100% run was to do an extremely difficult trick in that out of bounds area, but it was so hard that the category stayed empty until an easier method was discovered. I talked about this in the LBP Speedrunning Iceberg video: ua-cam.com/video/QE3ODP6CnOk/v-deo.html
Hey, I know this is a month old, and you're probably not going to make an improvements level, but I would like to share that I discovered something by accident in the terrible oni's volcano. For whatever reason, I believe the decorative flying machine has a mysterious invisible checkpoint. Once we spawned it by passing the scoreboard with multiple players, for a brief moment in time, the camera freaked out and killed us all, before respawning us from the scoreboard. I think this needs to be investigated further so the islands aren't a complete bust.
Oh yeah, I've messed around with that checkpoint before, and I do remember it spawning the player in a weird spot at some point. I don't doubt it would be possible to get out using it.
I don't plan on doing any LBP3 challenges, mostly just because I haven't actually played that game very much at all, which is unfortunate because it seems quite a few people are interested in it.

It's all put together in a way that makes it feel like an elementary school art project, taken to the extreme. There's something magical about that.
mm used a pc level editor to create the lbp1 story levels
@@m1ttyyyi dont think that changes the fact they were made in-engine? It was made on pc but I assume they still used the same editor.
