Days after the EP's release, Lovebites won the 2018 Metal Hammer Golden Gods Award for best new band. They performed in Germany at Wacken Open Air on August 4, and in England on the main stage at Bloodstock Open Air on August 10. Another Great Reaction GMG. What a great driving song to introduce themselves to the world Metal Community! After this performance they were invited to tour with Dragon Force in 2019 in England, and followed with another European tour. Miho was Over the Moon during this performance. As I understand the chronology, The Lovebites EP released May 24, 2017, got Metal Hammer's attention. They released "Awakening from Abyss" October 25th, 2017, played London November 2017 (Hyper Japan & Underworld Camden, phone vids on u2b), Metal Hammer attended. Their Battle Against Damnation EP, ('promo'd by Asami here) was released on June 6th, 2018, awarded "Best New Band" (no gender qualification) June 11, 2018. Play Wacken Open Air, August 4th, smaller stage, noon on last day of 4 day festival(!) LOVEBITES woke them from the dead! This impressive performance got attention of Bloodstock (played 6 days later) who moved them to Main Stage when an act was needed to fill the "Suicidal Tendencies" spot due to their plane delay. Yes, Midori not blond, yet, & other side of stage. Playing Wacken was Miho's original goal as a metal musician, mentioned in her "withdrawal" letter.

I've seen people call this part of a trilogy, but I've never seen the band refer to it that way. Asami has specifically called "Under the Red Sky" the sequel to "The Apocalypse," both of them are about the Hiroshima atomic bombing, but as you said, "Above the Black Sea" is about the various Japanese suicide units from World War II. At best, I consider this a "gaiden," a side story, to those two songs. Wacken was their second live release. It was never put out on Blu-ray, only a DVD included with a different version of their third album, and was specifically mentioned by Miho in her farewell message as a favorite memory. You can see them win over the crowd as the shows goes on. There's a lot of close camera shots throughout and not only does Midori not have blonde hair yet, this is the last live release with Miyako's light brown hair and Asami's dress that looks like it could fall off at any moment.

Yes, this concert was a milestone for Lovebites and Miho’s dream come true. I really love this performance and the DVD is included in the “Electric Pentagram” CD; it is about 40 minutes long and the video is amazing. A couple of months ago I purchased this CD and also the Blue-Rays of the concerts “Daughters of the dawn” (2019), “Five of a kind” (2020) and “Heavy metal never dies” (2021). I bought them in Amazon Japan; quiet expensive ((including shipping to Mexico) but really, really worth it. Amazon Japan delivery service is just outstanding. I might be exaggerating, but to me those concerts are ones of the best in metal history, and I would dare to say in rock history. I discovered Lovebites two and a half years ago and I’m still in owe. I’m well aware that music is a very subjective matter.
Awesome for checking out the live at Wacken video over the Daughters Of The Dawn version. This is a great example of an earlier performance from them Lovebites formed in 2016 but their 1st release (The Lovebites EP) didnt get released until May 24th 2017 and later that year their 1st full length album was released and then their 2nd EP (Battle Against Damnation) was released early june 2018. That makes 3 releases in about a 1 year span and each release was insanely good. And they made it to Wacken in the summer of 2018. That didnt go unnoticed with Metal Hammer and that's what lead Metal Hammer awarding Lovebites The Best New Band of 2018. The fact they accomplished that much in such a short span and were able to do it live that well so early in their career
I was already a fan back then and I wanted to go to Wacken that year just for them. Unfortunately for financial reasons (Greek economic crisis) , I was unable to attend. They played first that day to an already packed place ( it was in a big tent because it was rainy weather) and actually VERY few people were aware of who Lovebites are. The vast majority of the audience thought that a Japanese female band would be similar to BABYMETAL and so they went to see Lovebites out of curiosity. At the end of the performance, the WHOLE crowd chanted their name and wanted more.
I don't know how many people were there to watch them at Wacken, looks like at least one thousand. A few weeks later Lovebites played in a small club in my neighbourhood city and there attended maybe 150 fans. But still LB gave 100 percent. That's what I love about them.
