Miyako in an interview with Distorted Sound mag (in reference to Above the Black Sea and Under the Red Sky), "I wrote both as a kind of love letter to Rachmaninoff. I love his Piano Concerto No. 2 and I’ve dreamt of being able to play it on piano with the backing of a full orchestra one day, but my skill isn’t quite there yet. So instead I wanted to create a kind of ‘guitar concerto’, and this turned into the tracks Under The Red Sky and Above The Black Sea. For this reason, these two tracks are very personal and important to me."
This song is from the Battle Against Damnation EP, i love that EP! I think this is the first song from that release that you reviewed. The Crusade and this song are good, but Break the Wall and Under the Red Sky are some of Lovebites' best imho.
The first time i listened to this song the chorus put me off, but i like it a lot better now. I still like the other bits better though.
When you compare the 2019 and 2020 live shows its crazy how much they grew in confidence, especially Miyako and Midori. Im very excited for the 2021 release!

Haruna is such a fantastic drummer: she is not flashy but steady, smart, powerful,. She steers the ship rhythmically very efficiently and expertly. And her foot work is unparalleled.

Dave bro finally managed to remember all of their names. That alone makes this video worth watching haha. There are still some amazing songs live that he didnt react to. Daughters of the Dawn show is probably still my favorite (i have them all of course). We want Winds of Transilvania next, its official video so its not gonna ba a problem hehe. Great reaction and great job on the names! Interesting little piece of trivia on the names - while the others perform under their given names, Miho uses her surname as her stage name

I listened this song today on a premiere of the Memorial For The Warrior Souls live and its absolute fire how good it sound now can't compare! One of the best live concerts I ever heard and its not an overstatement at all! Incredible they sound now better then ever!

The 'Daughters of the Dawn' concert (2.07.2019) from which video was taken was only Lovebires 9th. public concert.
One of my favorite tracks, such an under-rated song. Miyako's intro and in-song solo have so much feel. There is gifted / talented then there is Miyako.🤘
Yes Lead singer is Asami, 3 m's on strings Miyako (guitar and piano), Midori (guitar) and Miho on bass, with Haruna on drums. Asami doesn't have to worry about the crowd after the first song they are at her mercy. As far as this song to me this is their B side song and it's not a let down it's just not a Holy War or Thunder Vengeance level. I don't think it's even in my top 10 by them but I still love it and your score is fair but just a touch low to me maybe .2 or .3 difference seem to be our +/- range.

Hey guys shout out to all the new fans. Great to see the channel growing so fast. For new members or even people who have been here since the beginning, if you are on the fence about joining the silver or gold tier on patreon my advice is if it's affordable for you it is well worth it. I have been a gold tier member literally from the beginning and not only do I get 3 requests per month but if it's a video Dave has seen in his personal time away from the channel like with my comfortably numb pulse request he gives me a heads up and asks if I want to change it. He will alert you the month prior so you have plenty of time to really plan which 3 songs you want played so you aren't rushed and if after you make your selection if you change your mind a few days later and want to swap out he lets me. No questions asked. Not only do I get 3 requests per month but he has been playing all 3 the first week or so of each month so every few days one of my songs pops up for the first week. It's really great and I've requested some really long songs and DH always comes through and doesn't try to get me to change my request to a shorter song. I understand not everyone can do it. The great thing about the fan base now is its become so diverse chances are someone that is a member will request a band or song you would have requested yourself. :) the greatest thing about joining is I was the first member and the first thing Dave wrote me was asking if I was 100% sure I wanted to do it and that I wanted the gold tier. Great review again. You've finally got their names right, great work. About the lyrics, It is heart breaking for old Japanese people. I feel like thinking of my lost son, but all of my kids are well and alive though. The lyrics are a kind of restrained. A tragedy tends to be over emotional and over done but this song is beautifully restrained.
And talking about "over doing", there are many top rock/metal guitarists who covered Freddie King and they all sounded funny. They over done it. It is like shooting out in Italian western movies, over did it and became kind of funny. Miyako loves Gary Moore, she covers him a lot, even with piano sometimes. But she never overdoes it, even more restraining than original Gary Moore, and that sounds perfect guitar to me. She sounds so "real". It is deadly difficult for an artist to restrain and control him/herself in solos though. Have a good one.

It depends on the song. If it is a two part harmony it is always Miyako singing the harmony part. That is why Miyako doesn't leave her mic stand much.
Other times it's Miho and Miyako doing backup vocals.
Midori joins the other two singing backup on other songs.

This is part of their trilogy about the end of the Second World War. This song is written from the viewpoint of a Kamikaze pilot about to go on his fatal mission. Imagine the challenge of doing songs about this in Japan. I love how fearless these women are.

You know, if you want to mention the band members' names, and realize that you have trouble remembering them, you can always write them down, and have them in front of you off-camera. That way, you can look like the genius that we want to believe that you are.

It’s a shame that the Bloodstock footage has questionable sound, because the girls played wonderfully. I agree with most people in the Wolfpack though, Bloodstock should be used only as a desperate last resort. The best footage of them are at the Zepp Tokyo, the Daughters of the Dawn, the Live studio and of course Wacken.
Hello Dave, I realised that the version you eventually found is not the version i hoped you would watch. If you ever have any free time, have a look at this version of Above The black Sea. It is from 2018 hen they played in Germany. You will see that Midori and Miyako are on different sides of the stage back then and Midori, in my view with her long black hair, looks much better than her present look. ua-cam.com/video/vl5UUwlt5ZY/v-deo.html Lovebites found it was better to have the piano set up on stage left, so Midori and Miyako switched sides to make it easier for Miyako to get to the piano.
