How good is the drummer to be able to stay so laid back in the pocket during a live performance?!? It’s such a natural tendency to increase tempo when playing live but this guy just OWNS it. Such an unsung hero of this band in my opinion.
This right here is my all time favorite AIC song.... THIS VERSION; not the original, not the one done on MTV's Unplugged and not any other. I played in a band called Triggered and this was the one of a few AIC songs I really wish we would've covered but never got around to. To you Layne, please know that you are most definitely not forgotten and no matter what anybody tries to say.... YOU ARE STILL HERE and nothing against Jerry Cantrell but no matter who he gets to front AIC they will NEVER EVER EVEN COME CLOSE TO EVERY SINGLE THING that YOU have done with AIC. And quick shout out to Susan Silver.... you ma'am are without a doubt a LIVING LEGEND and the reason why bands like AIC live on but most importantly..... your late husband. I can't, I just can't 🥹.
One of the best rock songs ever written. The ambiance of the guitar riff puts you in the Vietnam jungle. (For those that don''t know, the song was written about Cantrell's dad's experience in Vietnam).
Maybe Staley's voice was something else in this recording. Fucking spine chilling. Sublime version of The Rooster. Thank god for the people who post this stuff for us all to hear.
Well said. Imagine this recording being locked away somewhere and none of us getting to hear it. That would be terrible. Something very haunting about Layne’s voice here.
I remember the first time I heard "Would?" in high school. It felt like Layne's voice was reaching out from the 6th dimension. It was more human than human. One of the all-time greats.
This people is why the Glasgow Barrowlands is considered the best venue in the world by many artists and music fans alike. Small venue, great accoustics and a massive heart. I'm so proud its my local venue. Hope to see AIC back here someday soon 🎸
Stoked I found this version! I remember first hearing it & hadn't seen Layne Staley before yet, so when I finally saw him I thought "THAT amazing, powerful voice is comin from that little fellow?!?" Such an inspiration! All of them.
First time i heard this song was in Knoxville when they opened for ozzy layne was wearing a cast on his leg..needless to say they blew ozzy off the stage ! Since then one of my favorite songs and bands
If I could pick any song to go live the moment in it’d be this performance this song this day moment for moment. I wish I could have experienced what his voice sounded like live, at this time of his career at that. This guy influenced me more musically than anyone else in this world and I’m a drummer. I will always be connected to this band
This is the only song that hit me so hard, I remember exactly when and where I was the first time I heard it. I was working for a landscaping company driving to a job site in the truck and was hooked right away! I didn’t know who it was (the band) but knew I had to find out! Told everybody about it! Pivotal moment in music history for me! Thank You for the upload! RIP LS
I was there! So many excellent concerts at the Barra's around that time. RIP Layne x FNM, Fishbone, Ice Cube, Public Enemy, Joe Satriani, Black Crowes, RHCP, Seputura, Anthrax, Pantera, Megadeth, Prodigy, Ministry, janes Addiction (best show ever), Primus, Living Colour among the highlights of my early 90's barrowlands shows.
Anyone else here think Alice In Chains should have only ever done live albums? Their studio stuff is awesome, but it never had anywhere near the nuance of feeling and richness their live stuff does.
I'd love a live album from them. We have that compilation one but I'd like a full setlist to be released. Unfortunately they had to stop touring in 1993 because of Layne going to rehab, I'm glad they kept him in the band though. Other groups would have replaced him and kept going.
I love the line, they were like some apocalyptic machine every night. Said Layne was the most powerful rock singer he had ever seen. In same class as plant Mercury n Rob Halford, that is some serious company n well deserved! This is absolutely ridiculous! It’s a shame not more professional recordings of them live from this time. Almost no lallapalooza recordings or footage n he was in his prime as was band!

Sean is an amazing drummer. He's the hero of the unplugged show.
I totally echo your sentiments brother
None of the grunge bands had bad drummers.
Black Heroin from Afghanistan to former soviet union to Scotland
Black tar heroin circa 93 would have been amazing via afghanistan via former soviet union to Glasgow Scotland 1993.
Layne’s voice here is just off the scale. Phenomenal.
Right?
Layne's vocals was just out of this world... what a legend.
This might be the greatest live version of Rooster I've ever heard
The one in the Netherlands is great too :)
Allen Michau unplugged is amazing too
Check out Seattle,1992
Allen Michau laynes bellow comes from his nuts! Got dang man!!!

the sheer fucking power of that yeaaaaaaaaahhhh is mind blowing at 2:25
I read your comment before I that kicked in so I was ready, and it still blew me away.
It one of his best yea's imo, They could have been as big as metallic if he was still here.
You know a dude's legit when his voice is as good or better live, as it is in the studio version. God damn! RIP Layne Staley, such a loss. 😢
The National Library of Congress needs to preserve this
Layne Stanley’s voice is amazing no matter what
The way he hits those low tone “Yeaaaa-AH”’s screams just smacks you right in the face, what a experience it was to see him live in his prime. Fuck.
Jesus Layne. I miss that boy still.
I was at this gig and still got the ticket stub. Wish I could remember it 🥴
Awesomeness
I also went to that show, absolutely brilliant gig. If only Lane Satley hadn't gone downhill so quickly after that tour.
Its usually the best gigs you can't remember!! ;-)
Aw Bummer

Better than the studio version! I'm dead serious!
Was gonna say the same thing.
The Barras is a magical place. Brings the best out of artists.

Live sound engineers deserves a raise
The guitar and drums sound nasty
I was still a toddler when the Grunge bands first hit the seen. I wasn't able to fully appreciate their impact on the music Industry.
If aliens came to the world and asked me for an mixed mp3 CD, I would definitely write this song on that cd.
Damn Layne was freaking awesome and this song is amazing
This person better never end their channel. I hope it lives on forever.
People say the beauty of everything fades over time and in most cases they are right. This song is the exception to that rule.
holyfuck that first “aw yeah! “
thanks for uploading.
Best version of this. Fight me
What a sound!!Top of their game here.

Wow amazing performance!!
BEST Live audio I’ve ever heard. LS amazing vocals…chillz
This version is more haunting especially at the beginning. Layne's voice was mystical back then.
I was at this show. If I close my eyes I’m still there.

Amazing.
Them boys - KNOW " HEAVY " !
If only they played there 3 years later, was a 13 mini munchkin in 93 so couldnt travel down from Aberdeen
that makes two of us. I was listening them since i was 11 :D
this is unbelievable
And why is this version excluded from like all streaming :(
Thanks Alice In Chains Fans II GREAT AUDIO!
This is one of those "you just had to've been there, man" moments
Anyone else here think Alice In Chains should have only ever done live albums? Their studio stuff is awesome, but it never had anywhere near the nuance of feeling and richness their live stuff does.
Nope. They were phenomenal in studio.
This is no reason at all, just don't listen to the studio recordings then...

Layne's voice is like a deity
Mark Lanegan said it best....regardless of what state Staley was in, he would get up and fucking kill it ever single night.

This version is fucking outstanding.
Yes. This is the version from their best of album.
Why is this not on this album on Spotify?????!?!?!?!
Es esta la version excluida de todas las plataformas de streaming? Live at the moore
So is this maybe (if not AIC, but Layne, vocally) their best live performance? Every song from this set is better than the next
Does anyone know why this song is left off on Apple and Spotify on the live Album?
Wow!
any pictures of this gig?
This gig was recorded for Radio One, don't think there is any filmed footage.
