So, Rascal can bounce, rev roll and has a beach/pirate theme level called Buccaneers Beach Either it's just a coincidence or they took inspiration from Pac-Man World
@@speed3414 There's a remake? Whaaaaaat. I was gonna play the PS1 version, I still have all my old Sony consoles and they're in good condition but now that you mention that... I am not sure. I might get the remake.
This demo was RAD, and while I think I prefer the slightly more structured levels of Spark 3, jumping around and playing it (Even with my potato of a computer) Was really fun. One thing I do have a critique on is the enemy hijacking mechanic. It's neat on paper, but I honestly don't see much of a point to them. They feel somewhat clucky, and the few that are fun seem like that they come with a caveat.
Not all of them. Adventure and Frontiers have the tightest turning I have ever see, I'd rather play them than Spark or Rascal. Plus, they have more content. The only ones I'd consider are Lost World, Forces, 06 and maybe Heroes. Either way, the indie and officials are all quality games. It's all down to preference for most of them.
This game looks very fun, but a bit of a criticism I want to give is that gaining high speeds seems way too easy, of course this the first stage of a demo. But because speed seems so easy to achieve and it being so over-powered, it seems it will be very hard for the game to challenge you in meaningfull ways. This is something I felt in SA1 aswell in which the spindash was so over-powered and so easy to use that it basically removed any challenge out of the game (jank aside) This is where I think Spark 3 held the best balance, Spark is powerful enough to allow for cool skips, but also weak enough for the level to provide good challenges. Even then, this game looks super fun, definitely gonna buy the full game!!
Multiplayer reminds me of an old MMO called TalesRunner I wish racing platformers (Platform racers?) would make a return (fall guys is close?) Rayman Arena was pretty cool
Spark 3 story is... something. (I honestly don't know if I wanted something like 2s self serious but still positive out outlook or stick with 3s crazy twist.) It does make me wonder what they will do for 4

just played the demo. Its the best sonic game since sonic adventure 2 by a mile. I hope they meet their hubworld stretch goal. I've never supported a kickstarter before but I'm considering this one
I played the demo and can confirm that this is a fun game with lots of potential. But I'm not gonna lie, I do wish the levels were less confusing to navigate and more focused, and the game had more of its own identity because at the moment, it does kinda feel like its "just a Sonic game but with a character skin mod enabled". I feel like it should be more of its own thing to stand out.
Kind of agree here, I think moveset is going to be pretty crucial for that. Rascal rolling is kind of almost just like a Spin Dash in exact application. Least with Spark and Lilac their variations spice it up a bit with being able to halt your momentum and suspend yourself in midair before going in a different direction. Not something I see Rascal doing but I understand why.
I kinda disagree with your last statement. Like yeah the game feels like a Sonic game cause that’s the whole point, but it’s not like there’s nothing here that doesn’t stand out from Sonic. From high jacking opening up possibilities for new types of level design, the health system working very differently from any Sonic game, Rascal being able to swim whereas the water would definitely kill you in a Sonic game, the level design being almost entirely not automated and focusing more on being open, etc. It’s very close to Sonic, but I don’t see how that’s an issue since all art is derivative anyway, nothing is completely original including Sonic. The devs set out to make a speed-platformer like the older 3d Sonic games and if that’s what people want either because they’re dissatisfied with new Sonic games or because they want a new speed-based platformer to try out, then it doesn’t need to be anything more than that. As long as the game is fun and well designed, nobody will care how similar it is to Sonic.
Ohhh! It's Sonic GT devs. No wonder stuff I was no fan of in that game are in this one. It's fun tho and will be picking it up when it releases since it's the closest to Sonic gameplay I crave (this, P-06 and Spark 3).
This game honestly feels so great to play. But I do have one request. Gabriel, PLEASE add the drift. I CANNOT make those turns without it. If you can go inside and outside turns (not just outside!) then you have nice turning. My suggestion is either use another available button, or activate it when turning hard in ball form.

I love everything except the rails, and tbh that's on the Sonic genre as a whole. I think the last time rails were done right in a Sonic game was in the Adventure ones, even though tilting towards the sides made you fall off, it at least provided some interactivity beyond jump to the left rail or the right rail, and more importantly, speed had a much bigger impact when you boarded them. It just looks really strange to me to have no speed, jump in place and touch a rail, and then you slide along it with a determined speed, as in... where did this speed come from? Anyway. Lovely game.
I have this idea for a fan game I want to make where the boost is changed into three charges that at add small burst of speed to get you started on a run but it won't put you to your max.
