    Nice to see you covering the dungeons of this game. Looking forward to your take on The Aurum Vale. Aka. the bane of healers. As well as the thousand maws of toto rak, the copperbell mines, cutter's cry, etc. ARR had a lot of fun and interesting dungeons.

      @@SynodicScribe I like to explain the inconsistencies away with a combo of:
      a) The Echo causes all adventurers so exist on different timelines that all sort of cross over, allowing people to re-experience things they've done, even when it's someone else's first time.
      2) As such, every "Player" is a Warrior of Light, and as such benefits from insane power, ability to rewind the clock in a fight, and the absolute recklessness that comes with that combo of traits. xD

    Ah man. I love to see this. Its really unfortunate that the devs are most likely going to follow on their one dungeon a patch stance, even though I used to agree with them when they announced it. Its just a dungeon, who cares? That's what I thought, but then as I went through ShB I got h e a v i l y invested in Norvandt's history, areas and people. Even with a such a small world, seeing the Ravel, the Well, and the Twinning especially made me so interested in peeling back and finding different, hidden pockets of the world, like delving into the thicker areas of the purple forests, the spires off in the distance of Eulmore, and within Lakeland's castle.
    It doesn't help that we were stuck with nothing but Cosmos for months, even though it wasnt the devs' fault. It really made me despise Cosmos as a whole seeing as it was the only(?) dungeon to do.

    There is a jail in one of the caves wings that has the kidnaped women (mostly Lalafellan/Miqo females) held inside behind a locked door.
    You can relief the guard of their duties aggressively and take the key to open the door. Inside is some flavor text delivered that makes me think that these girls were serving in more ways than they wanted to.
    And canonically since most players rush the dungeon these girls never get released from their fates. Figured Id share this little bit.

      I try not to forget why I’m there. To be honest I’m kinda fond of the early ARR dungeons. They remind me of an all too brief time when I wasn’t known as the WoL, slayer of Primals, bane of certain Ascians and enemy of the Garleans. But instead known as a journeyman adventurer being hired to get the simpler tasks done.
      While I’m a lvl 65 Smn/Sch and Whm Hyur I’m thinking of creating a second character so I can re-experience the simpler times when SE gets around to female Hrothgar. I love cats but refuse to be a Miqo’te because almost everyone is a Miqo’te. Even when female Hrothgar are released I doubt many would choose them.

    With respect, you missed a lot of lore.
    Satasha’s last portion (where you fight the Sahagin and Kraken) is called “The Sultana’s Lap”. Even though Satasha is not in Ul’dah. This is because Mistbeard, nearly 20 years prior, had raided the wedding of the Sultana of Ul’dah (Nanamo ul-Namo’s parents) and made off with a haul of wedding gifts, but also the Sultana herself. It is believed he used Satasha as his anchorage, and took the loot as well as the Sultana there. It’s implied that Mistbeard had… relations… with the Sultana. Whether it was consensual or not is unknown. That is why the area is named so.
    It is also possible that Nanamo resulted from their tryst, meaning she is half-Roegadyn, but because interracial pairings are stated in the lore to keep nearly all the mother’s genetic traits (Hilda being an exception for meta reasons) Nanamo appears as a normal Lalafell.

    • @SynodicScribe
      @SynodicScribe  2 роки тому +1

      I was saving that lore for when I do a deep dive on Mistbeard's character. But since no one was expressing interest in that content I didn't get around to it. The dungeons delves are focused on the dungeons, not characters.

    • @TheSpicyLeg
      @TheSpicyLeg 2 роки тому +1

      @@SynodicScribe Such a pity, since they cleverly hid that lore (or in this case, it was 1.0 stuff) so characters you meet seem light on lore, but they have a surprising amount if you know where to look. Enjoyable nonetheless.

    I hope you do cover the other dungeons. There's a lot of old, forgotten lore from 1.0. Personally not big on ARR recaps telling of "totally not the WoL and friends." since I was expecting more on the telling of what each part of the dungeon meant and how it connected to the story. Like "The Hole" where they keep all the miqo'te and lala sex slaves and the in fighting pirates that were about to make even more sex slaves as you mentioned their atrocities.
    This is all just my opinion and preference though.
