Mustangs need more power so when they plow thru a crowd of people outside a car show they're only getting thru the first 8-9 people before it gets hung up, but with 800hp that number of people should jump to about 20+
OMG you all made me spit my coffee out during the Aston bit.The new Volvos look awesome! I totally want that wagon. Also RFN was great today! In response to Q of the D, I want a balance of fuel economy and responsiveness for the price. Now with the model 3 coming out, that changes the game. I can get a nice looking sedan that is quick as hell but uses no gasoline for under 40K.
Bought an STi for the sheer driving pleasure and to complete my childhood dream of owning one. Fuel efficiency was never important. Hopefully Derek D goes to Subaru Summer Solstice this Sunday since he'll be in LA
The only thing I give a shit about for MPG is the correlation to SPG. "Smiles per gallon!" Drive something that inspires you enjoy your commute each and every day.

Well considering that I live in California and gas prices range from $3 to $3.50 I really take fuel economy in consideration

For me, the fuel economy depends on what car I'm planning to get. If I'm looking for a 4-door everyday driver, fuel econ would be a very important factor. If I'm buying a truck or sporty car, fuel econ isn't a major concern.

Fuel economy is basically a bonus to me. I don't make huge travels but 45 minutes to an hour everyday and honestly would rather pay a few extra bucks here and there and have a fun car.

QofTheD: About fuel economy. Wanted to buy a daily driver to save on my special gem. Eyeballed a SAAB Viggen, fun, querky, fast turbo with decent fuel economy. But at the last second I ended up with an S4 convertible (V8, 6MT) without fuel economy at all. Happy anyway. My range is limited to 300miles per tank - irk.
Fuel economy is definitely on the list of less important things. The fun factor and reliability are my top 2 priorities. You can never have all three options though, so you gotta pick the most important two.
The only option for all 3 I can think of, MAYBE, is the VW GTI. But I'm with you, I'd sacrifice mpg rather than be a no-personality robot driving a Prius.
I would say for me performance and style comes first and then I look at fuel economy.
Derek D, Erica is a veteran contributor to this show so she has earned and really deserves more time in front of the camera. If not her then you should give A.K or some other member of FLD a shot at hosting. However, given Erica's prior experience she would be an easier hand off on days when you can't do the show. Handing the show off to random people that the viewers have no personal connection with just feels wrong. I hope you remedy this going forward. ;-)
Almost none. BUTT, my avg number is prob 15MPG? Although high MPG is nice
as far as the mpg question goes I don't consider anything that gets south of 25mpg. I like good performance but when all is said and done I still obey laws and drive close to the speed limit too often to be enticed by ridiculous top speeds. 0-60 times are cool but tend not to mean much when you're following someone going 45. I pay more attention to how the car feels on the road and whether I'm confident it can handle well and break quickly so power isn't a huge concern unless it's really gutless.
I guess those short videos didn't last long. Count me in as happy.

fuel economy: extra bonus as long is above 22mpg on regular drive. Europe is at 40mpg - 60mpg and higher on regular cars

fuel economy is on top of my list after reliability
gas is hella expensive, so yea its pretty important, otherwise i would daily a v8 or v10 m5
#FLDQoftheD fuel economy is important but for example the tax and insurance difference for 1 year (in my country) between a car with a 1.4 engine and one with a 1.6 is enough to buy fuel for 2000km and the difference between a 1.4 and a 2.3 is enough for fuel for 12.000km, with differences like that fuel economy is not a main concern, it's more about having enough power (seeing as my 75HP 1.4 petrol car doesn't have enough)

the car is good for me when I drive 500 km a week and I fell it one time... so it's not very important to me cuz cars are OK in getting 500 km..... I care a lot about spare parts and cost of service that's where the money consumes a lot... so reliability is the first choice
#FLDQoftheD the more fun it is to daily drive the less I care about mpgs. People mover = more important. Sporty vehicle = less important.
I own a 2015 Cadillac Escalade and 2014 CTS V-sport and looking to get a 2017 CTS-V. So I don't care about fuel economy but if I did i would probably get a Tesla S P90D since it's the baddest electric car out right now. I like to have fun and I like real engine noise so the Tesla is not on my list of cars I want right now. Not saying the Tesla isn't fun because it is, but I want a loud American muscle car that I don't have to plug in and wait for the battery to charge up if I drive the hell out of it.

#FLDQoftheD good fuel economy is a bonus. Where I live having a vehicle is must, so you're going to buy gas regardless. If I like the vehicle. I am buying it. My last three vehicles required Premium fuel. So whatever for me.

Fuel economy doesn't matter much to me. I wan't to enjoy my rides so I'd rather drive less in an enjoyable to drive vehicle.
I think it all depends on what you want: if I drive to reach my aim, and i don't care about how i get there, i want to go as cheap as possible! But I sometimes even just drive without any aim, and if driving is one of my passions, why sould I try to save money there?
I am a big fan of electric cars but I honestly think that people will drive petrol cars until all the oil is gone, and it doesn't matter if it's one day earlier or later because of my car using more fuel than a modern diesel car.

Most cars get good gas mileage now , my ss gen 5 gets as good as a 01 bemmer.
my car has a 6.0L V8 so gas mileage is not very good but i dont drive to much so its ok fun>Gas Savings

I care much more about power than fuel economy
I see a lot of people buying fuel economical cars and then they jist drive them to Church on Sunday or grocery shopping. Basically they are not buying cars for fuel economy. But because they are cheap cars. such as Sentra, Elantra, Civic etc.
I don't care about fuel economy. I only care about how much fuel I can stuff in my tank.
