- Upcycle project with this bird bath I got from the thrift store. Wanted to give it a new look and keep it out of the landfill. Trying out the Rust-Oleum hammered paint in copper.

Yeah naval jelly and a wire brush first. Then rinse it a few times so the water isn't tainted with any off gassing. Nice piece tho

Nice color. Is that safe for a birdbath? I mean will it leach into the water? Also there's a great rust remover you can use ahead of time by Loctite (naval jelly).
Yes from what I researched this spray paint is safe for the birds. Never heard of that but I will keep it in mind for future rusty projects!
My concern is if it is safe for the birds.
@donnabourgeois5003 safe for the birds you say? I too am wondering the same. Let's hope the bird kill count is low after two years.
There are chemicals in paint. Perhaps just doing the out side only. Also iron rusts furthrt breaking down the paint
