Rust-Oleum Hammered Spray Paint (Copper) Refinishing a Cast Iron Birdbath DIY Project

Upcycle project with this bird bath I got from the thrift store. Wanted to give it a new look and keep it out of the landfill. Trying out the Rust-Oleum hammered paint in copper.

Yeah naval jelly and a wire brush first. Then rinse it a few times so the water isn't tainted with any off gassing. Nice piece tho

Nice color. Is that safe for a birdbath? I mean will it leach into the water? Also there's a great rust remover you can use ahead of time by Loctite (naval jelly).

Yes from what I researched this spray paint is safe for the birds. Never heard of that but I will keep it in mind for future rusty projects!

There are chemicals in paint. Perhaps just doing the out side only. Also iron rusts furthrt breaking down the paint
