I also think that you should only focus on your health and recovery after the surgery! There's nothing more important right now! Take good care of yourself!

Start now contacting people but let them know - without going into details - that you the earliest date you can start is in x-weeks. That's what I would do, but then again I live and work in Switzerland, which works a bit different, also regarding being unemployed, so you have to take my advice with a big grain of salt. Good luck with your surgery and take care of yourself.

I'm sorry to hear that you're going to have surgery. All the best for the operation and good recovery afterwards.

Maybe tell them you have a 4 week period before you can start, and each week you can tell them 3 weeks, 2 weeks, 1 week and immediately 😊

Hi Nate, good to see you. I hope you get through everything well and continue with your UA-cam channel. If you actually come here to Germany next year, you could start a new video series. "I meet my subscribers". You could show who watches your videos, what kind of people they are, what they do, how they came across your channel and so on. I ask myself, even with other UA-camrs, what kind of people watch these videos. I think there are a lot of interesting people there.
I'm kind of a marketing guy, I organize concerts, I'm a DJ (for 40 years), I'm a biker and I live near the Alps.
Well, that would be an idea...

Sorry about the surgery but I am sure you will come out of it in good shape. You seem to me to be an intelligent, sensible and competent person who will find a company that appreciates your good qualities before too long. Best of luck julia

A thing like that HAS TO sink in, 1st. A rule in the german Bundeswehr was: "if you have a complaint about someone: sleep 1 night over how you wanna put it." Maybe a good rule.
Waiting to apply for a new job, when already in recovery mode could be described as: I didn't know how much positive effect the surgery would have. It was only estimations. Now, I can tell you how far I've come so far. And: work in progress, but I can tell you that...(describing your situation).
I didn't want to come here and tell you something that was uncertain that much. I can now tell you what it already brought for me.
I think, this would be a great way to explain. And it's true, isn't it?
You''ve been working in hr. How would you deal with this? You are an expert in this.
When I worked in the metal industry, my rule a bout the quality of a part was always: would I install this part in my motorcycle? This concept always worked, 'cause I'm pretty picky, when it comes to that. But it still allows tolerances.
I'm german and I never "learned" a profession. You might guess that I've worked many different jobs. Mechanics, store managing, goods reciept (and even control), media statistics, right now I'm working as a helper for an arborist (physically so hard, that he couldn't find an employee for years. And I'm 63, by now. At 50, I started seening myself rather in a bureau. Well: things went another direction.)

I don't know much about the American job mentality so it's difficult for me to say if you should look for a job now or after the surgery but from all the stuff I hear about American employers I would keep any health problems a secret. As you said in your last video, you don't wanna be a number anymore. Seems like you have to proof all the time you're "the best and healthiest number" for your boss just to reduce the risk of getting laid off easily. I think I would start job hunting after the surgery.

Personally, i would do some reaction videos for UA-cam to give yourself the time to recover from the surgery but also keep your eyes open for any job openings to see if there is anything that you like. However, don't rush back to work if you are not feeling fully up to it, let yourself heal first. I hope the surgery goes well and that you have a good recovery, you need to look after yourself as well, all the best 🤕🤕

I´m so sorry to hear this bad news, but i think the only part that counts now is your health . You have to wait for the results of your surgery, nothing else make really sense. I hope you have a reserve fund in case of your terrible health system and your unemployment. Now i look part 1, cause i missed it. Take your head up and look forward, life goes on.

Become a UA-cam star? I don't think so UA-cam does not pay that great anymore unfortunately but it's a great suggestion/idea😊
The only solution for you and your family is to move to Europe ASAP the Netherlands my country and Germany your wifes country are not perfect but Germany and my country right now is/are still so much better than America the so called land of the free it's not far from it no offense😊
Other than that a great video well done and thank you Nate👍
Once again good luck with the surgery.
    And greetings from the Netherlands🇳🇱

Start now. I don’t know your job, or how long typically it takes to find a job. At the very least you can delay them if they do come back, you’re on a family trip, you’re taking care of some family health issues (true). Something to keep them warm

Depends on your skillset. If you have really unique niche skills (like there is you ans 3 other guys in the state that can do it )- go for it and be blunt about it - they will probably cheer for you. If you have average skillset but you're just Wery good at it - wait! You will scare them off. And first off all - you are no use for anybody if you are dead - so put your health first!

I'm glad you are feeling better. Maybe shipping off the laptop(s) was one thing off your shoulders; one thing less to worry about.
Have you got a date for you surgery? The sooner the better. It's not a dangerous surgery. The only ting is; Does it work, or not?
I wish you all the best :-)

    Honestly i´d just lie (what a sentence..XD).
I mean cant you just look for a job where you start in a month or two?
Are you obliged by law to tell a future employer that you have medical appointments before you start in the new job?
I think its not the future employers business what you do or not do prior to working for him/them.
