  • UCLA was opened in 1919 and is located near Beverly Hills, a luxury neighborhood in Los Angeles. Many Nobel Prize winners and Olympic gold medalists have graduated from UCLA, making it an excellent school for both academics and sports.

    Beautiful campus. The music reminds me of the last five minutes of the TV series Lost.

    I should’ve worked harder in school

      Ha ha. I am sure that you have worked hard in your life. Let's look forward rather than backward.

      @@henem_ I’m gonna be honest, I am lazy. Take a typical day during the school year (pre quarantine 11th grade, my academically toughest time). I wake up and drive to school. Most of the time at school I am doing nothing. Listening requires no effort. Only a very small portion of a school day am I concentrating on doing quality work. Most of the time we are given to work, I am dozing off, talking with people, or lightly thinking about my work, but not actually working. I’d say about 10% of my time at school I’m concentrated on my work, which is .7 hours. This is 42 minutes.
      After school I go straight to football. Sure, I work hard in practice, but it’s not really “work” because I love it so it doesn’t take much forced willpower. I get home at 7:30. By 8:30, I have showered, eaten, and rested appropriately. I typically go to bed at 1:30, so I have 5 hours to do my work. I would get it done for the bare minimum to get an A, which would take me about 1.5 hours each night on average. This is with 3 APs. I still have 3.5 hours every single night where I choose not to be productive. This means only 30% of my free time at home am I doing any sort of work (which I am just doing to get it done and get an A). 70% is wasted.
      Overall, I am working hard for 2.2 hours per day, or 2 hours 12 minutes. 21 hours and 48 minutes are being lazy. 92.3% each day is me being a lazy pig. What can I do with that extra 6 hours and 18 minutes during school? What about that 3.5 hours at home? I could double my AP classes and spend 2.5 hours on homework and still have 2.5 free hours. Or spend time during school to make up for that extra hour. This does not even include weekends or breaks. No matter what, I would STILL have plenty of free time, even in the busiest time of my life.
      But no. I’m going to be 100% honest, I am lazy. People like to say they work hard or I work hard, but we are all lying to ourselves. Getting into UCLA is easy, but not many want to do the work. I know I didn’t. I have no excuses. Only now seeing how much UCLA has to offer do I admit my regret. I could’ve and should’ve worked much harder in school. And nobody can convince me otherwise.

      @@medogerty6013 and why don’t you do something about it? If you truly wanted to go to UCLA just go to cc and transfer instead of complaining.. it’s never too late

    • @medogerty6013
      @medogerty6013 3 роки тому +3

      @@icedtea4924 I’m not complaining, I’m just stating the obvious. And I would rather go to a very good college that suits me than go to a questionable cc (there’s only 1 in a nearby town) then transfer to the best college for me. I regret not doing enough for UCLA, but UCLA isn’t the only thing in life.

      @@medogerty6013 ah sry, it's great that you have a good option that is not UCLA. Trust me, things happen because they are supposed to. If you were meant to be at UCLA, you would be. But life has a better plan for you. Good luck with whatever you're doing!
