Dude, thanks so much for this video. I ended up buying the same uv and it's working great. I set it up just as you did and I haven't had any leaks (knock on wood) at all.
thx for this video I was always looking for a way to deal with the algae build up and I used UV's before and they worked really well but I hate how most of them are combersome and was patiently waiting for Fluval to make a inline version for the FX series
Great video. I have a Fluval FX6 as well. I ordered and just received the Jebao 36w UV Sterilizer. When you connected the Fluval rubber hose connector to the clear valve stem of the uv sterilizer did you cut off the small top piece of the clear valve stem? Thanks again for this informative video.
Am interested to know. How does this affect the flow rate output from the filter. I thought the main problem with the UV Sterilisers was that the flow rate off the FX6. Pushed too much through the UV unit for it to be effective in its operations?
Nice. I knew it was possible but on a search for the right parts so,,,,,what extra part did you use? Perhaps offering a kit as your method is proven. How is it going after 11 months???
I have another question you are only person I’ve seen do this .I have a 125 gallon tank with cichlids .my problem is I only have enough room for an 18 watt . Saw a pond uv sterlizer from pond guy that I liked .in your opinion would the 18 watt help with parasites and keeping water clean or would it not be big enough wattage . Thanks for your video
It will work, just may have to cut back on the flow as a 18watt may or may not be rated for the gph of a fx6. Whatever uv you buy should indicate the correct flow needed to operate correctly.
I’m curious why are you running 2 fx6? My 125 is under construction and I plan on getting a Fx6 also a uv sterilizer for a FOWLR plan on copying your canister uv set up just wondering why 2 filters and should I get 2?
To be honest, I noticed no loss in flow when comparing to my other fx with no uv. I tried to keep my return line short as possible. I also used the 1inch inlet and outlet option on the uv sterilizer so it didn't reduce flow. Thanks for watching!
@@rvaaquatics8097 to confirm, you split the out or return line in two between the UV correct? The intake line doesn’t get touched at all? Essentially, the filtered or “clean” water goes through the UV prior to returning back into the system?
Hi im interesting to buy fx6 and install the uv How is going still working fine? And the flow it Will slow alot becouse uv mostly are 500lh and fx6 is over 3000lh? Please Best regards Johan Malta
Yes, stock hose. I cut it down about 2ft section from fx6 to intake side of uv, then from output side of uv to tank was the remainder of the hose. In order to help seal the ribbed hose since you will cut the end off is order another set of fx hose ends. I linked it now in the description off amazon. Good luck, it's easy. 👍
@@rvaaquatics8097 Is the bulb changeable? If so, how would you change it? Wouldn't there be water still through the tubes and sterilizer when trying to change the bulb?

Is it still working for you
I searched Uv for fx4/fx6 and your video popped up only one. Found that uv on Amazon $86 ordered that bad boy and it’s working like a champ on my 125
Are you running it 24/7? Thx

Fluval is still making one for fx series
@@greygoose117 Really? Any idea when that would be available?
Thanks super helpful
Thanks for the video. I wonder how I would hook up an aqua 40W since their in/out are 2 inches. Your tank looks awesome!

Would you still recommend this uv unit for an FX4?

Nice set up where did u get hose ends to connect to us sterilizer .
Link should be in description, thanks for watching!
Hi what kind of rubber did u use to connect ribbed hose to uv ?
How long do you leave you uv light on?
RVA? As in Richmond VA?
How much flow did you lose you think? I have an fx6 and want to do this
