You can also use vinyl hose that works perfectly (... actually better than the Fluval hose) for fitting over the connection tubes of the Clarifier HOWEVER, make good that if you're going to use vinyl hose that there's no kinks or pinch points along the tubing.
Looking forward to your biocenosis video. I've had one setup in my 75g Hap/Peacock tank with Fluval 407 for about 5 months now and have been seeing great results after initial 3 months of tank operation. In medium stocked tank, after 3rd month I was only seeing about 10ppm nitrate increase after 1 week. Been about a month since i've actually measured nitrates so I will have to see if it maintains closer to 0ppm Nitrate now over the past month. After seeing 10ppm max increase weekly, I've gone to biweekly 25% water changes where initially I was doing weekly. I made it from plastic ADA interconnecting plenum pieces you can buy on Amazon, and a modified skimmer connected to a Hygger dual sponge/media air lift filter which gives it a low turnover rate (~20 gph). Mix of Special Kitty cat litter and red flourite. Then a poly landscape fabric over that, as I have about 3" of Cichlid Sand above it and didn't want it to migrate down into the biocenosis media over time. Basically how Dr Kevin Novak recommended in one of his many videos on the subject.
Great video! I have one of these, ordered soon after release. I really love it. My goldfish tank would start to cloud up at about 5-6 days after service. Now it’s still clear at two weeks! Before I was running dual AC70’s. I got the Fluval 307, and soon added the UVC. I still do water changes every week, but do filter maintenance about every other week. I may be able to go even longer between filter maintenance actually. Time saver!
I like the form factor of that Fluval device. Much less bulky than the last UV thingy I had. Thanks for the review, glad Fluval keep sending you things.
I will be interested in the update down the road. I use a sun sun 3000 on a 47 gallon custom tank. It has the UV sterilizer and I have to say I like it. I use this tank as a grow out for my livebearers and I have noticed a difference in water clarity and fish diseases.
I went through a sterilizer era awhile ago. I tried the Green Machine and a filter that had a sterilizer built within it. Also the bare bulb. All had limitations of one sort or another. The bare UV light is the cheap route and does the same thing but can't be put where any of the light will shine on fish. I had it in the type of tank where the filter was hidden in the back area. For me, the sterilizer didn't eliminate any of my aquarium's type of algaes at all. I think it might only work for green water (?) algae that creates the fog in the entire tank. I think perhaps the sterilizer might mess with good bacteria but I don't remember if it does. I was disappointed in all of the types of sterilizers...none eliminated the algae I had. I've never tried to use the one you have in this video. Visually it isn't too big as some covered bulb type of sterilizer. Sounds like it also lasts a very long time
I'm interested to see how it interacts with your tank. I liked your presentation, not such a big fan of the fluval animations, but thats fine :DD looking forward to your next video :))
Wow I love how that thing works!!! I also love how its in-line. I've been looking for a reliable heater that I can just hook up to the hose. Anything I can pull out of the tank I appreciate!!!! Thanks a ton!!!!
I put 2 of these uvc on my 2 fluval 207s for my 75 gallon tank I had the worst algea outbreak they cleared my tank up in 2 and a half days awesome product from fluval my question is would the water flow from a fluval 407 be to strong for this uvc???
Hello, I have a 90 liter planted aquarium, there is a Jbl e 701 external filter that turns 700 liters per hour on it. With this product, is this UV filter enough for a planted aquarium?
Its installed and working on my 43 gallon tank I made a few months ago. Its the episode where I put the canister in. I didn't put it in right away because I was saving it for that project.
If you want to see it attached I have it installed on my 43 gallon. In a video called “planting and finishing up the 43 gallon” about 21 minutes in. I knew this project was coming up but I didn’t have the tank at the time to install it. So I saved that part back. The short review is it’s working as Expected. I have the timer on for a short time during the day and my water stays very clear. I do still get some algae but it seems calmer than other new tanks. Hope this helps.
interesting and great unboxing. I do like the design of this. Being in line is definitely the best way to utilize a uv filters in my opinion. I have a small green killing machine (a real small one -3 watt-it clips onto the overflow of an HOB) and use it a couple of days a month. I have had some good results with it. It is definitely something I'm glad I have on hand! I just don't think it's going to last a long time. It's also why I would consider investing in something like this. I too have learned not to throw my instructions too far anymore myself 💯🤣 So far, I like the design of this and love that it has a built-in timer. I have been known to forget unplug or turn things off before 😢🤣 It will be neat to see what kind of results you have with this unit! I'm looking forward to your projects coming up. Thanks for another great video I hope you and your family had a happy Halloween! I hope you have a very blessed weekend!! Thank you for sharing! 👍🌿🐟🌿💚
PS this month I can't wait to get me a shirt and be able to show my support that way. I think it'll be quite snazzy especially on Father Fish's stream in the mornings! Thank you again for sharing👍😁
I assume the bulb is not serviceable on purpose, due to risk of leaking if it opened. I assume the led timer goes out when the bulb stops working. It looks like the water makes 4 turns at 90 degrees in a very tight space. I’m wondering how noisy this is, and if it creates water noise.
D I just bought the clarifier vc clarifier now myQuestion is can I connect it to a powerhead and run it like that cuz I'm not being able to fit it to my floor FX6

hi just bought this unit. there is no way to know if the light is actually on.no peep sight or anything to see if bulb is on. i have mine attached to clear tubes and cant see a glow at the ports,,,, am i missing something?
How you change the bulb on this. Looks a sealed unit. UV lights don’t last that long so would love to see the data about the longevity of the UV bulb. Plus what rate is that recommend for as it looks way small.
UV works on any type of water as it kills everything that it shines on. even people so don't look into the bulb! www.cancer.org/cancer/cancer-causes/radiation-exposure/uv-radiation.html
It's a shame the units bulb can not be replaced. I'm not into use it up and throw it away. Had the unit been the serviceable type I would have bought several. What's wrong with these companies.
They are all the same . All germicidal UV use “Subtype C” of ultraviolet electromagnetic radiation; internal or external. There are 9 subtype of radiations in Ultraviolet spectrum. The wavelength of C subtype is about 100-280 nm. I nm is 1 meter divide by one billion or 0.000000001 meter. The shorter the wavelength, the stronger the electromagnetic radiation. It can alter the DNA.
@@pecktec My first day review, My tank is a 40 gallons I got the UVC hooked to a Canister Filter Fluval 307, easy setup, no issues. I selected the 4 hours option and I noticed the water is very clear, I can tell the difference. So far so good. 👍
Hi! That's unfortunately not true at all. The Fluval UVC Clarifier is functionally the same as every other UVC Sterilizer on the market, except it lasts much longer and is more energy-efficient. Clarification and Sterilization are synonyms - they both refer to ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI), a disinfection method that uses short-wavelength ultraviolet (ultraviolet C or UV-C) light to kill or inactivate microorganisms by destroying nucleic acids and disrupting their DNA, leaving them unable to perform vital cellular functions.
Design wise is looks like a piece of brick. I'm seeing this will be another source of leak for my canister filters. It'll only treat green water or particles in the water anyway which water change will do as well so i big pass for me.
I wish they made one for the FX4 / FX6 canisters. The tubing is different size I think.
How silly!!! I'm mad now
Only a few years later... but there is an fx version now
I hope you can show before and after (maybe time lapsed?) pictures on how this works in a few months.

Shame theres no 12/16mm version. And dont want to use a connector step down. But the 30000hrs is awesome. Normally most uv only has 5000hrs.

Unless the tubes are made smaller than what they came with ( which I wouldn’t recommend) then it won’t fit on the tubes the fx 6 comes with.

It is new technology, so how does the Fluval 3W compare to traditional UV watts?
Quality video as always.
Hmm it's looks like unfixable unit, I mean when the bulb goes out, is there any access to replace it?
It lasts a long time but no I don’t think it’s replaceable.
Do you think it will still run 24 hours if I don’t plug the timer in? Just connect right to the power supply?
If I have an aquarium with the in/out on same side do I just mount the UV above the canister and use the original pipes for in and out through it or does it have to be mounted to the side
I don’t think it’s orientation is as big a deal as it being in the output so it doesn’t get dirty.
I’d install electric cord up for safety reasons. Not down.
Hard water will cloud up the glass sleeve
Thanks for the video! Spoooky
Wow GREAT video
Wil it work on a Resun canister filter also

Hello, can this lamp open, can the lamp be replaced?
Don’t think so.
I need 1 for my fx6
Hi. My submersible pump of my sump has flow rate 2000l/hour. Is it still ok to install this ? The unit says max 1000l/hour
I think it may reduce its effectiveness if it flows too fast. But I’m not sure if that’s what the limitations were about.
hi just bought this unit. there is no way to know if the light is actually on.no peep sight or anything to see if bulb is on. i have mine attached to clear tubes and cant see a glow at the ports,,,, am i missing something?

I ran down how long it lasts. 30,000 hours.
How do you clean it out?
Use them in koi pond but large
Can you replace the bulb ?
no its disposable after a couple of years.
The bulb is unreplaceable I believe. on other hand, it will last about 6.85 years (12 hours daily). so here you go.
After one year the bulb is not good anymore...
Will this work with my 5gal fluval spec freshwater kit aquarium?
No its made for canister filters.
@@pecktec oh ok. Do you have any UVC recommendations in mind, or practice that I can use for my tank? I’d appreciate your expertise.

Well since it can last several years I think that’s ok. There will be something better before it burns out.
Does this have any effect on brown (diatom) algae?
It’s going to zap algae cells moving in the water. Not sure what effect it will will have on that. Maybe but I’m not sure to what degrees.
just in the USA i cant find any in the uk. and i wanted test it on my FX4. still i will have to wait. looks good thx.
