- I deal with Reverse Motion Effects this week. It is something I have incorporated into my films for over a decade now. Its a fairly simple technique that can produce great results if done right.

Turning the final remake shot into 4:3 to match original made me chuckle.
An important detail even some professionals somtimes overlook is the timing. Often you can tell whether somthing was shot in reverse by the way it accelerates or decelerates during the shot. You gotta keep in mind the nature of the forces being applied to the objects in your intended scene, things like whether it is constant acceleration or just a pulse, if it should increase strength with proximity or if the flying object slowing down for a "soft landing" etc.
So simple yet so cool. Schmoov bro.
Appreciate, was really one of the first camera tricks that I incorporated into my films.
Agreed.
Awesome!
The hits have started to increase, so people seem to be sharing. Took a while, but much quicker than most of the effects you will see on this channel.
That is awesome... love it!
This is cool, but how do you actually reverse the film? I guess today it's easy with everything being digital, but I wonder more about older movies. Like the scene in Carrie where Sue puts the flowers at the grave, or the bookstore scene in Top Secret. I don't get how those were done.
The most simple effects seem to really work the best.
Any basic editing program will work, all you need to do is put the clips in reverse. We used Final Cut Pro.
Great description and good points made Tiago. It's not an exact science but scientific principles need to be taken into account to pull off this effect.
Thank you for this. The best
Really good stuff, just tweeted you're link!!! Very impressive at you're age. Keep up the great work!!!
that is so awesome !!!
Really enjoyed this one :)
Spot on that!
Nice, glad u appreciated that. 4:3 is back!!! Just look at what won best picture in 2012.
Good job!
I think the easiest way to do it "right" is to actually first imagine and mimic catching and then noticing your hand and body movement, then try to reverse it to get it right, then throw it in that way,
May even record a video of catching, then watching in reverse
That's good advice !!!
@@ShanksFX1 Thanks
The idea was stolen from Twin Peaks Red Room sequences where they walk and talk in reverse.
this guy should make a feature or atleast an indie film...
No problem, it's still a effect I always use when I'm in a pinch!!!
Very nice stuff! Really found a lot of the tips useful. If you wouldnt mind checking out my short film Grab Bag. 5 of the shots in it use the reverse effect and Id love to get your opinion on how it came out.
what program are you using for the reverse effects? pls help!

how do I can erase the rope ?
If the camera doesn't move and there isn't a lot of background movement, shoot the same scene twice, one with the keys and one without. Then in your video editor, make a mask around the key and lock and put that over the key-less shot.
you look so young
Haha, yep, those where the good ole days!!!
Yea...Well "The Artist" winning that for me was like "Shakespeare in Love" winning over "Saving Private Ryan" in 1998. :)
if we get inspiration from your exellet work is t concedered like a" stealing " ??????????
if that was the case everybody who ever did anything creative ever would be a thief.
"Key components"... I see what you did there
nice shit man. You wanna smoke a dube some time?
