Great video. Just to add a couple of tips: Make sure to wear gloves when handling the new light bulb. Grab a pair of vinyl dishwashing gloves from the dollar store. The oils on your fingers will create hot spots on the new bulb and it will noticeably reduce the life of the bulb. Regarding the driver side low beam, you definitely have to at least take the top piece of the windshield fluid funnel off. As far as the battery goes it is very tight but can be done while leaving it installed. I had to get my 13 year old daughter to help me unhook the power source from the bulb because my hands are too big but I was able to take it from there with the battery in. Finally you can sort of see it in the video, but there is a disengage mechanism on the power sources that you have to press to remove it from the old bulb. It is pretty obvious when you feel it because of the grooves, and it depresses easily with minimal pressure, but the power source will definitely not disengage from the bulb unless it is depressed. Plus you don't want to damage the power source by forcing it off as that will be a much bigger expense than what you are trying to avoid by changing the lamp bulb yourself.
Thank you for this! I was able to successfully change the bulb in my Subaru crosstrek! :) The auto place was going to charge me $75. I paid $20 for the part, and it only took me 5 minutes to install.
How is it that my 2013 Crosstrek has a dome-like weather cap over the bulb that's impossible to get out? Did they change the design mid run or something?
I have a 2016 Crosstrek and my low beam replacement is different than what shown here. Commenting to let others know. On my vehicle the low beam is accessed by removing a screw cap and then the bulb is held in by a wire clip. Different bulb and pricey.
