In this video I demonstrate how to use Alchemy's Granular Synthesis engine to create ambient instruments and soundscapes! Well done and instantly usable information. This is the third video I am watching on ambient sounds in logic pro and the only one that explains how to get there fast without a ton of plugins and covers the most important aspects. Now I can get to producing my background music and not worry about licensing since I will be creating it with all my own materials.
This video has been very helpful. Your pace of talking through the different functions has given me a clear understanding of the potential of this plugin. Thank you very much.
Thank you so much! I've wanted to know how to make pads like this for a while, and this was a great tutorial :D. I'm pretty blown away by how much can be done with granular synthesis.
Yea. Great video. Lovely sound, and you should have noted that it just used one of the 4 sources available for this single patch. Morphing the volumes of the 4 sources would add quite a bit of sonic variety to it. Bravo! Love your vids. The best out there.
awesome video. Didnt know alchemy was capable of all this. starting to use logic more again. Question however. Are you able to cut a small piece of the sample you drag in to use instead of the whole sample itself?
Hi, is there a way to affect a program number to the presets in Alchemy so that it becomes possible to use program changes in Logic to change the presets automatically ? Cheer’s. Dom
Thanks for the video! Is it possible to modulate the snapshot control with an LFO or MSEG? I basically created a set of vowel formants assigned to different snapshots, and I'd like to modulate them to create a sort of sequenced vocal synth if that makes sense
I don't believe you can modulate the Transform Pad itself, all of the controls in the 'perform' area are modulation sources/macros only, they can't be modulated with other parameters. However, you CAN use the Modulator MIDI FX plug-in to modulate the X and Y axes of the transform pad. You'd have to add 2 modulators though, and learn them either the LFO or the Envelope in the modulators.
Well, I'm not using Sampler in this video, but to pull up any instrument in Logic, including Alchemy and Sampler, you create a software instrument (Option Command N), then on the 'Instrument' insert on the track, you can assign the instrument you like. When I make videos like this, on a more advanced topic, I generally don't re-hash basic knowledge about operating Logic. I assume that if someone is wanting to create soundscapes in Logic, that they already have the basic knowledge and experience of working with MIDI and software instruments in Logic. You should go check out some basic MIDI tutorials first if you're a beginner, and a lot of things will make more sense.
@@kaidoChess Who's being pretentious? I answered your question, and explained why I can't re-hash the basics in every video. That's it. If I re-hashed the basics with every video, my videos would be an hour long. People complain when my videos are too long, now people complain when I leave basic things out for brevity. Can't win.
Alchemy was a 1000x better when Camel audio owned it. Thankfully I’d only bought one of the Camel audio sound banks so I only lost a couple hundred dollars instead of a couple thousand. 😁I was ready to buy all of them but Apple bought the company. Thankfully I got to useit for another 3 years before Apple wiped it out with their damn updates. That’s my only beef with Logic. 🤬
This might be one of my dream videos in terms of sound design! Such a great timing!

Super helpful man, thank you! I normally use Alchemy's presets for ambient stuff but this opens up a lot of new possibilities 🙏
You should pin this ~

Your little performance in there was mesmerising. Nice! And a really informative video. You sure packed a lot of information in.
Such a great instructor. Alchemy is such a powerful stock plug in we should learn before moving up to 3Rd party plugins.
yes,
You make it all so clear & straight forward, cheers as always!
Andrew Austin,
You use that Granular Synthesis, how you make the samples? external? clear? straight forward? what is it you do?
I Needed this video like I needed oxygen. Been looking for a great tutorial like this for a long time.
this video blew my mind, i took alchemy for granted, it was right under my nose this whole time

Loved it, thank you so much for clear and straight explanations.
Thank you soo much. I'm always learning something here. I really appreciate you going in true depth with this wonderful software
Thank you so much..... This is insanely helpful. You are a very good teacher and a very good sound designer!!!!!

What version of Logic Pro x are you using in this video?
November 2020 would have been Logic 10.6 most likely, possibly 10.5.
I think there may be someone in my cupboard!
How do I even pull up Sampler ??? That would have been helpful dude
