WHAT A GREAT COMEDY BIOPIC !!! JOHN DENVER MAKES ME LAUGH!!!!! THE TREES, THE ORCHESTRA, THE CUTTING DOWN OF THE BED, AND THE SONG THAT ANNIE DOES NOT WANT TO HEAR. NO WONDER RCA DROPPED THIS GUY!! HWAAAA HA HA HA HA HAAWWWW
He flipped out when they cut down all those trees. That's very true. As John Ford once said, "it ain't the way it happened but it's the way it should have been."
I read somewhere that Annie hated this movie...and I have to agree..it's one of the worst movies ever made..she said that it didn't portray John at all how he really was as a man... although he was a very complex person and he did have his demons like we all do he was really a loving and caring man ...she just thought it was atrocious and embarrassing....😏
I think I know why? Is because it was back then 1980s it change the people gets tierd of listening to John denver music and the people think his music are not all conutry they are soft rock well it doesn't really matter if he sings soft rock it's how he plays it and how he sings it his music is his music I don't give a shit what the people think.
Rusty Taylor Nope. Here's a letter from John's brother, Ronald, after the release of this movie. " In watching the CBS television movie, "Take Me Home, the John Denver Story" which aired Sunday nite last week, I must say I am tremendously disappointed. This was not an accurate portrayal of my brothers life, nor are the events and people included an honest depiction. The people responsible for this, chose to incorrectly portray John Denvers life for reasons I cannot imagine, (personal gain?) not to relay the truth of my brothers life! I know this is not the fault of CBS, none the less, I would have preferred an honest portrayal of my brothers life, the good and the bad! Our dad, though indeed hard on us, always supported John in his dream. Dad and Mom were the ones who let John quit college, and go to LA, where they imposed on friends, for a job and a place to stay for John while he attempted to get his start. Our father never gave my brother a hard time about the name change, though he had every right to do so, and the phrase "Howdy Doody is famous" was never spoken. The relationship between our father and my brother was great, and though they had difficulties when John was younger, (what children don't most of the time) those had long since been forgotten before Johns first TV Special, not just before our dad passed away as shown in the movie. Our father was very quick to relay how "proud" he was of my brother and his accomplishments throughout John's career, as well as his love for his son! Nor did John write "Annies Song" just before he and Annie divorced, as we are lead to believe in the movie, for the purpose of attempted reconciliation, but many years prior to their difficulties. Ask Jerry Weintraub about Hal Thau's involvement in John's career, versus bookkeeping! Hal owes all that he has to my brother! For him to say in the Memorial Service he felt like John was the brother he never had sure makes me wonder, "How is our mom doing Hal?" As there was supposedly no will, do you think she is being taken care of as John would have wanted? The only good to come from this "TV Movie" is a certain exposure of my brothers music, in prime time!"
Thank you Reddish Brown for posting Rons' letter. This movie is an abomination and disrespects John and his family. Wish someone would make a movie showing the truth regarding John, his music his commitment to his family and fans, his activism. And in the correct order of events and songs composed. Yes, including Johns good and not so good points, but be accurate for everybody's sake. This movie here is rubbish.
@@paulineh4019 I wonder if Ron was being a bit too hard on some people here. I really cannot say how I'd feel if my brother was dead and somebody made a movie about his life. Well, there will never be a biopic about Matthew, the recycling facility owner and dealer in wood, glass and cardboard, but I think I'd never be happy with any movie about my brother, even if it stuck to the facts, had everything in the right order and featured an actor who actually looked like him instead of someone who is merely dressed up to look like him. Also, the movie may have been made prematurely. I suppose it was done so soon after John Denver's death because they thought he'd soon be forgotten. They were wrong, they could have released the movie in 2007 and people would still have known who that guy was. Now, as of 2020, I think it's too late. There still is a loyal fanbase, but it's not large enough. People have been asking for re-releases of old albums or an album of unreleased material (it exists!) for a couple of years, but it has been written off as a bottomless money pit. -- I think the best thing you can do is read the book (I have, and I don't regret it) and listen to the available music.
@@DellaStreet123 Hi. I have read the book. I think Ron said it best, an accurate film is needed to be made. This film made John and his dads relationship to be skewed, not true. Johns fanbase in 2020 surprisingly is growing, with younger generations coming forward who appreciate his music and ethos. Didn't know about the large number of unreleased songs. Hopefully someone will realise there could be money in releasing them or a wealthy fan of Johns music will make it their cause.
@@paulineh4019 If you take the book as a measure, the main problem was that Dutch couldn't express his love for John, at least not the way John expected him to. I think Dutch did love John, you don't jet down to retrieve your runaway son if you don't care for him. And not only did he respect John's decision to drop out of college and pursue a career as a singer-songwriter, he gave him some cash and said he'd accept him back. I guess if my father had run away from home, his father would have told him not to bother come home and to get out of his sight if he decided not to comply with the plans he had for his son's future. In many aspects, Dutch may just have been the way his generation was. Think of the bathtub story, for example. "That's not to play with." Awkward situation, but not a real family drama. However, I found it disturbing that, when John won Dutch over for the macrobiotic diet, Dutch claimed that drinking was the only thing that made him happy. Ouch, that's pretty sad. -- I'd love it if all that unreleased recorded material would finally made available to the public, but I have little hope.
John Denver you should not let your anger out on your wife if you want to let your anger out come to me and I will help you let your anger out by holding you down while you get mad while you fight
The timeline is so out of order! He met Cassy in 1986, they married in 88. This stupid, inaccurate movie has them meeting in 1989 ! Arrrgghh, get something right!
No. This is an inaccurate depiction and very dramatized. John’s mother cried when she saw this movie (because it’s _that_ bad), and I think his brother cursed at it? I forgot. I only remember that he got angry about how his brother was portrayed.
What a rollercoaster ride of emotions
Love Again By John Denver R.I.P
@08:38 Funniest scene in the entire video.... and extremely satisfying!
It's so sad that he always loved Annie but it didn't work out
If you have the money you can buy grown trees and have them planted. The trees come on a huge tractor trailer right to your house or property.

This is nothing compared to reality. He went in and cut absolutely everything they owned in half!
He flipped out when they cut down all those trees. That's very true. As John Ford once said, "it ain't the way it happened but it's the way it should have been."
How dare she let them cut the beautiful trees down!!!!
Dang this is good! You saw that bed in half fool! Get after it JD!!!
I have it on DVD 📀 I just recently got this movie for 1 dollar 💵 tree 🎄 it's a awesome movie

John denver made 100000$ and 100000s$ for the record copeny greatest hits is the best albums in the history of rca.
@06:51 - OMG John Denver's gone KWEER!!!!!
He didn't love Cassandra!
RCA dropped him and then even Annie had enough of his syrupy, drone ballads.
John Denver you should not let your anger out on your wife if you want to let your anger out come to me and I will help you let your anger out by holding you down while you get mad while you fight
Do not think anger is a issue with him anymore, he died in 1997 in a plane crash.
The timeline is so out of order! He met Cassy in 1986, they married in 88. This stupid, inaccurate movie has them meeting in 1989 ! Arrrgghh, get something right!
so it turns out that he was a very immature and selfish person

ok but that was dramatic asf
Leave it to biopics to dramatize everything and give a real-life person a wholly different personality.
