I’m not gonna lie males who have a problem with black peoples natural hair isn’t ANY of my business. I’m loving my starter locs and I don’t care what anyone gotta say about it
I don’t attract the guys that I don’t want ever since locking my hair … I’m attracting more mature , serious type guys and they are more of my type too 😌 Also I don’t get nervous walking past a bunch of bums in the corner because they don’t be tryna holla all disrespectfully
My locs are quite long (nearly waist length) so I don’t know if that affects anything but I have tons of men and women approach me about my locs and how beautiful they are on a regular basis …however I definitely feel like I get way more of the “how are you today queen” type comments than when I was a loose natural and literally never got that when I was relaxed. People tend to assume with locs (in my experience), that you’re more “woke” and demand respect more … idk why
I feel that my locs have made me more confident in myself. I've always been confident don't get me wrong , just now it's ten times more. I love my babies 😍. I love you locs lady.
One thing I don’t like is ever since I’ve grown my locs for some reason men think I’m just this go with the flow type girl lmao I find I attract some men who just do the bare minimum and it’s mainly the men with locs to or the fake “hotep” type . When they see I’m not that they run lol
I think locs are more on trend in that more people are trying it as an easier way to maintain their hair. Just like some naturals are shaving their head or relaxing. Plus I think almost ever black woman has had faux locs, so the looks been on trend.
thank you loveee🤎🤎🤎 but i’ll let y’all tell it! i be in my own world for the most part. i just feel like “trend” should come with some more real life perks loll and i don’t feel like it does 🥲
This is y second set of locs and let me tell you, I am somehow more attractive with locs, especially when I let them down. I feel cute with them tied up, buuut somehow, I am more attractive when I let them down
I Loveeee your locs. Great video!! I started my locs on like seriously short hair. (I have videos posted) I honestly don’t see why I hear all the time that “starter locs” are boyish. Most people now of days start them on long hair so what makes them feel boyish??? i never heard an actual explanation. I’ve had short hair multiple times when i shaved it the first time yea i did feel like a boy but that’s i think because i wasn’t confident in that hairstyle. At the time and i had nothing on my head 😭🤣 Then I recently cut it off all over again before starting my locs and felt sexy af lol just my experience… plus I’m sure they still wear protective styles. I Literally just put a scarf on some cute earrings and walk out until it grows 🤣 but when the scarf is off I’m still happy with my decision and don’t associate it with feeling boyish. Because i know what comes with this process. What camera do you use? I’ve been on the market for a new one. This one is givinggg 🥰
Maybe because I tend to be surrounded by people of other races a lot but they have no idea what is going on with my hair. None whatsoever. This is my 2nd set of locs. My first set got pretty long and I think all people saw was the length not the locs 🤷♀️ It has only helped me in dating show up as my authentic self.
listen 😭 i remember being at dinner with my co-workers and some how my hair became a topic of conversation 🥴🥴🥴 asking for a whole lecture on HOW IT DID WHAT IT DID 😭LORD JESUS spare me lololol
I've experienced this at work too. They think people with locs don't wash their hair and that it's a "ratty" hairstyle. Welp, there are some people with dusty, ratty dreadlocks that don't wash their hair, but it ain't me! LOL
I thought braids were more dominant in Africa and locs were more popular in Jamaica and America. Like all the sports player in America have locs especially in the Bay Area 70 percent of the men have locs .
there's def truth in this🙌🏾 but i would also say that although locs have been popularized by Rastafarians in Jamaica, locs as a hairstyle doesn't reflect what the majority of the population actually have. One example i know of is that to this day it's unlawful for children to wear locs in Jamaican schools where black ppl make of the majority of the population😢.. Black Americans wearing locs have been popularized among male celebrities, but they don't reflect the reality of the population they represent. I'd say bc of the income celebrities make they're more often going to embrace wearing locs (males anyway) bc they don't face the same issues that directly affect one's livelihood in the same degree or frequency the average civilian may wearing locs. As far as Africa is concerned I think the general public are more likely to wear locs than any other black demographic. that's my opinion though
@@thesimoneestelle yes aside from ball players places like the Bay Area , Down south like Louisiana , Tx and Florida 70percent of the male population wear locs . I say that to say that locs also have a culture here in America too. As you may No lots of ancient cultures here in America wore locs . As a person who has locs and grew up by the Bay Area we don’t view it as trying to look African or Jamaican because it’s apart of own roots here too. I have a 2 in-laws from west Africa and they don’t no too much about locs but favor more towards braids . When I look at the ancient and currant hair culture in Africa I see more braids not much for dreadlocs . Just my opinion from research

I’m 5 years loc’d and loving the journey in the beginning I had people consistently asking when will my hair grow past my shoulders after awhile only mature men would speak and open doors locs gave me more confidence and self love
I wish I loved my locs. I'm almost 3 months in and I've never felt more unattractive in life. I hate looking in the mirror now. My hair has always been super long & naturally silky & now the shrinkage has caused it to be short, ugly and fuzzy. *update* combed them out after 4-5 months
Why do you keep them? You can always comb them out and be comfortable in your hair. Don’t force what’s not there. Best wishes to you on which ever journey you choose
“Naturally silky” “short =ugly” “shrinkage” people like you infuriate me. Curly hair shrinks! That’s what it DOES!! The way my natural hair grow out of my head isn’t ugly, when. It’s short and nappy it’s STILL NOT UGLY! Point blank and the period. Take your self hate and go seek help. What your doing is damaging to women and girls who’s natural being has been demonized for centuries. Take your silky hair and go tf! Annoying asf
I love women with natural hair idc if its locs, afro,or even short curls idc,and locs look feminine on women to me but i guess everyone is different lol
All Women loveee meeeee 😭 but I almost exclusively attract Caribbean men and African men (or old men hotep type) it’s annoying bc I don’t find any of them attractive 😩 I feel more confident & prettier w my locs (im 3 years in) but the attractive men literally look at me last
I feel like locs REPEL people who have bad intentions, truly a blessing!!!! I agree with u!!
