  • Fall Fishing NYC - NOVEMBER PORGY & BLACKFISH - Tautog / Tog in November. What a fantastic fall fishing season it has been fishing for blackfish, striper and the fall porgies in New York city, NY! It is gusting 40mph and raining on this November day so thought I would take the time and do some catch up with the UA-cam. I was working two rods for the tog this day and even caught a big porgy in the mix! I rarely work two rods but seems to be a good thing to do in circumstance and will lay in mind for next season. I am sure there are plenty of porgies and tog to be caught - just get out and try!

    Hi Jerry, I'm glad you're still catching Tog. My friend in Ocean City hasn't caught a Tog in two weeks. He was catching some niece big Tog up till then. I guess the fish will be moving soon with the cold weather moving in. Good luck and have fun, Mickey

    Great video, Jerry; depicting the abundance of life gathered around structure, in the latter part of Fall. Yesterday, during the South blow, our local beaches looked like a scene from a National Geographic nature documentary. Those who chose to brave the big surf and windy conditions, were rewarded with catching as many striped bass as they wanted. I gave it a few hours in the morning, and left them biting, when the rising tide made things a little too sporty. All in all, a great Fall run. Tight lines to all!

      Hi Jeff! I knew it would light up but thought I would sit the day out and miss out. Poked about the bay earlier in the week calmer days had to work the water for a few fish. Certainly was better on frontside. I like how you used the term "sporty!" hope to fish some beach soon! Thanks always Jeff!

    I tried for Tog the other day even with bigger hooks I was getting just a lot of little taps still fun but it’s definitely drying up a little out there. How deep would you guess the water is where you are there?

    • @FishYourWay
      @FishYourWay  Рік тому +1

      Yea I been using the 4/0 regardless then something smaller when I had enough dont mind missing most of the small fish which seems to be an abundance of. Probably swings from 8-20 feet pending on the tide/moon/blow

    Enjoyed watching your videos - especially on fly fishing for striped bass- was surprised to see in this video that down here in New Zealand we have almost identical species to your Porgy but we call it a snapper - probably the most popular eating fish for amateurs and commercial. They are a great fly rod target as well - my best so far is 12 pounds off an estuary beach on a 7 weight outfit: ua-cam.com/video/RPE0kWVOOAU/v-deo.html

    • @FishYourWay
      @FishYourWay  Рік тому +1

      Hi Mark thank you! Thats a nice species if snapper you have there on fly seems so fun too! The porgies here can push to 5lbs. Some years they are plentiful others not so much from shore. Thanks for sharing Mark!
