Saw them last night in London. I've followed them on UA-cam for years, but never thought I'd ever see them live. Very possibly the best display of pure musical and vocal talent I've had the privilege of watching live. The whole show was flawless, but this song was saved for the encore. Absolutely beautifully sung by both. Allison's voice is quite simply angelic.
It's unbelievable that this is an original song by these two. This song is INCREDIBLE! If it was written 300 years ago, it would still be going around as a popular traditional. 👏👏👏
Saw Alison and Josh at Bath yesterday. Brilliant show. Individually both amazing, together, well I’ve now run out of superlatives. If anybody reading this comment lives with 500 miles of a venue can I recommend getting tickets. Take some friends. Hearing them sing this live is worth the price of admission alone. Josh and Alison: Not sure if you get to read all the comments, but never thought I would get to see you perform live. Thanks for taking the time to come over to the UK.
Well, that was an a cappella delight. I got a sneaking hunch a couple of old choir teachers are crying happy tears over that little number. Thank you both; that was magical.
Their appreciation and mastery of music and writing in such a variety of genres is quickly making Josh and Allison (Bygones) something extremely special. Can’t wait to see where they end up and what future albums bring!
I've watched him grow from boy to man. A child in a classroom, to marriage to start his family. That's his body. His talent, it also grew. The thing is, his talent grew way way bigger than his body. His talent is a giant. I haven't the foggiest how it fits inside him. But don't worry, his $hit still stinks, he is still human, but I can still admire the beauty of his talent. It's on display here - crystal clear to see. I hope he is a Christian cause in a hundred years I'd like to meet him and say thank you for all the good moments he made me have. Some of us need a talent like his when we go thru the bad pains of life. Big thumbs up 👍👍👍
Saw you both in Glasgow. Phenomenal performance. I've followed Josh for about a decade and Allison for a few years. I travelled from England to see them both and would do it again in a moment. Best live performance I've been to from a musical standpoint. Pure talent
Simply gorgeous, beautiful story and beautiful harmonies. I love that the chorus ends in that dissonant note rather than the note my ear wants to hear.
It ends on the relative minor chord, C#m when you'd probably expect E as that's what the rest of the song resolves to. Both work the exact same way though.
Excellent, you two, thank you. That was the epitome of traditional English folk music (whatever its particular origins), sung beautifully. Welcome to the UK; I hope you have a great tour.
@@user-xh1kz7rm4j Yup, that was my point. We know they both sing well - and Josh is a multi-instrumentalist - but the contemporary song from across the pond had much of the feel of a trad English folk song. Quite some achievement. Cheers.
I'm always blown away by Josh's collaborations with so many talented players. I hope he and Allison play together for a long time. Her voice is amazing. Come to Montreal please!
I loved the story telling of the well crafted & thought provoking lyrics painting a scene of natural tranquility. Alison’s vocal qualities are outstanding, & pure In nature, reminding me of the incredible voice of Jacque McShee (Pentangle). Having had the recent privilege of enjoying both josh & Alison perform live at the Komedia in Bath, their original material was both enjoyable and memorable. My only criticism was that the performance had to come to an end. If you’re able to, I’d strongly recommend attending one of the forth coming dates on the UK tour. In my opinion, both Josh (The other Favourites) & Alison deserve to be featured on shows like {Later with Joules Holland’ to give them the exposure they so richly deserve.
Beautifully done yet sad. Gotta say my heart breaks a bit every time I see another lot being cleared for more people to move in... Kudos to Kelly for her creative vision with these videos. Fingers crossed for a Josh, Allison and Carson collab one day!
And I just heard you close your Glasgow concert with this. Really beautiful, I feel privileged to have been there. Thanks so much and hope you both come back to Scotland soon.
That is truly quite sad to hear but the story rings so true. Fantastic song and you both were amazing. I’m 77 and I can honestly say this song brought a tear to my eyes. Well done but very sad.👍👍🥺😢
You should come to Hartlepool whilst you are in the region Josh. I have been following your musical journal since you were very young... Enjoy the tour. X
Josh, You and Allison are terrific together. Great music. You may be one of the most talented musicians of our time. You are a wizard on the guitar. I think you could make it talk. But your talent is much greater than this. Your sense of proportion and timing are perfect and your production and mixing talents are advanced professional grade. You have a good voice too. Allison is beautiful and talented. Her voice is amazing and she is a chameleon. She can be a beautiful Disney “princess” in one piece and a smoking hot torch singer in another. Well done, Allison. Two great talents together.
Yes - I heard you both singing this in Liverpool, UK, on Tuesday .... awesome performances guys. And I still have tickets for Josh and Carson in Leeds in September - held over from before Covid. It's been a very long wait. Hope you enjoyed Liverpool.
I agree - lovely piece. Sorry to nitpick, but this is more in the vein of traditional English folk music than Irish, and possibly Scottish. (From an Irishman, living in London). Stay healthy and good luck to you.
@@nickharvey7233 Idk, it's very much reminiscent of traditional songs like the parting glass or auld lang syne which are both Scottish and parting glass especially has been sung in Ireland for a long time
@@amayesingnathan I don't see that especially, but, to me, it is 100% like most traditional English folk songs. Always an element of subjectivity here with these things. Let's agree that it's a great piece of music and leave it at that. Have a great weekend and take care.
May we have these harmonies for the next hundred years. We need to preserve these intervals and thoughts… Thank you for being pure, genuine, and most of all… Musical!
so beautiful ❤️ love how you tried something so different than mainstream. reminds me of traditional irish music that my grandpa would always listen to and sing.
Allison Young and Josh Turner are real poets extraordinaire with this song sung so astoundingly in resonant harmony and meaning conjured from the beauty of the natural world and painting the inner-scapes of person-hood! Thanks for sharing your remarkable talents!
Very Special and Heartwarming!! My grandmother (Murray) immigrated with her parents to the US from Ireland at the age of 8. Forward 60 years to the 1960's........ As a young boy in the US, I remember her singing Irish folk songs with the same cadence and intonation as your heart warming song. Lovely acapella from two highly gifted artists that I have admired for years now. You have made my day in remembering my Dear grandmum Deborah Murray....
Saw you guys play together in Birmingham last night. Fantastic concert, I’ve been looking forward to seeing you both for so so long. Please release May 9-12 on vinyl, and also come back to Birmingham again soon! Safe trip back to the states. Cheers!
I would have loved to have been there……I live not far from B’ham. Unfortunately I found out about their gig just after it had happened…….hopefully next time!
I immediately thought this was an old world classic. I could picture Celtic Woman covering this. Immaculate writing and eloquent performance. Thank you.
Josh, I am so appreciative of your amazing talent, and your ability to surround yourself with a vast array of other talent. But now you've teamed up with Allison, and it would appear you've raised the bar even higher. As usual you and yours seem to thoroughly enjoy making quality music together.
Breathtaking. Love the lyrics. Extraordinary song writing. You guys harmonize great together. You have synergy. If you come through Winston Salem NC stop by my Studio/House and stay a while and record a video or live stream. I the old guy who gave you the Dire Straits ticket in Charlotte.
So beautiful, so sad. Exquisite. These young people, Allison & Joshua, & their friends & colleagues, fill me with hope that music will survive the present day of crass commercial degeneration & will inspire us again.
Been following Josh since recording at parents home. Never has ceased to amaze me. And this duet is just so perfect. Thanks. May you have a long life of music making
I thought this was good, to hear it live in Leeds last night took it to a higher dimension, brought a tear to my eye. You rightly deserved that standing ovation at the end of the concert.
Just saw you perform this as an encore, and have arrived home to find this upload. Thank you for an incredible performance, I hope that the rest of the tour is as resounding a success as tonight was!
This entire collab album has been amazing but this is my favorite track by far! I'll be spending this weekend singing and playing this on my guitar 😋 Thanks Josh and Allison!

Man Allison's range is incredible. I'm no expert but she's great with the low notes (see the cover of "Fever") as well as high.

Josh has made some of his best and most creative music with Allison, I'd love them to discuss how the project came to be!
That can't have been easy. This is REAL singing. It was stunningly real and beautiful.
